It could become a classic in it's own right, but I don't see it being a "true" classic, that we mention in the same breath some of the great Oasis songs or some of the great songs of other artists. Which is what I'm trying to say. TIOBI is a classic, but it's a classic in a different way. Basically spaneli is saying that the odds are stacked against it becoming a rock standard. And he is right. Correct me if I am wrong. But bands and artists usually only have a small window when everything flows together for something of their to be a phenomenon. Oasis had that in the mid-90's. Noel probably won't get there again. I like the person that said that this song in like it was plucked out of the air. It isn't forced. It isn't overproduced. It's just effortlessly beautiful. It's been a long time since Noel has written anything that stood alone like this. It may well be as classic as Noel will ever get. This the most organic song he's written in a decade That's basically what I'm saying. It seems like I'm downing the song, which I'm not. I think it's a very beautiful song and a great song and will be an album highlight. I'm just ready to be as euphoric and ready to heap on all the praises of the world as everyone else. That's it. I'm not saying that one shouldn't love it or anything. I'm just stating my opinion. Which I think is the purpose of a forum, I believe...

I'm listening to this song for the 30th time in a row, and I still get goosebumps. Fuck it, I might as well just pick up the guitar and learn it asap. Imagine playing this to a girl.. "Let me fly you the moon...my eyes have always..."

let me just be a prick and say, like the other gentleman above me, that I preferred "forgive me if i spoke too soon". But it's still amazing... up there with TDOYAM

Don't completely agree. Because I think it's a great song, but yeah 10/10 is hard for me to swallow. Idk, maybe it's because I've heard the previous version so many times, but I'm just feeling it as much. I know it's a good song, my ears are telling me it's a good song, but I can't make the leap to "classic". Could someone help me jump? What would you do differently? For one: I'd definitely put back the echo in the chorus.

Still think this won't appeal to fans outside the Oasis die hards like ourselves. Can't imagine being at a party when someone fires this on.

For me its sounds like a song Noel could write in his sleep. And from what we've heard so far it sounds like might have to get the slippers and hot chocolate out when i listen to it."
At some point you just have to look at yourself in the mirror and say: I probably wouldn't like anything that Noel Gallgher puts out at this point. You're a clear, but honest, Liam partisan, and that is fine. But saying "DADROCK" everytime Noel puts something out is self defeating. Noel is a 44 year old Dad, he's not going to try to be David bowie and put out a jungle/let's keep up with the kids album when he's middle aged, and he's never had the voice to pull off full-on rock. So this is who he is...
So if you're expecting him to put out something you like, I think you're going to go wantinig for a long time.

How many parties have you been to where someone fires up Imagine? Some of the greatest songs ever written aren't party songs.

This needs to be used in some movie. Now! I'm certain that would give it the exposure the song needs, not to mention how much a dramatic scene can be upped with parts of this in the backround.
Brilliant, brilliant song

Am I the only 1 who thinks this will sound better live? A very good song, will be a grower. Still to class it the same as TM, DLBIA, WW and whatever is a bit too far. This song will be packed with emotion live. I can't fucking wait to see Noel in Philadelphia in November.

The song itself is brilliant, but I'm disappointed by the production. It plods. It shouldn't plod.

I can imagine this song being used in some chick flick where two couples kiss on a beach at the end. Stupid, but it will give some coverage...

Of course reciprocity is often scattered during the first moments of contact, because I reckon we are too well preoccupied with impressions. No no, no offense at all. I just hope my subsequent wranglings with you from now on will at least make you conscious of your OWN vacuous spoutings, akin to a blue jay's squawking of false excitement once it knew the nuts were all it can get excited about really, like.

I'm not looking for C&A or anything like that but I am looking for more than mid tempo plodders that I believe Noel could put out each week till the end of time. I don't think either song is bad, this is another well written song but it doesn't have the fire or spirit i've always liked about Noel's songwriting. For example Record Machine is a song that soared for me and i'm really looking forward to see what he's done with it. I never mentioned Dadrock in relation to this song? But if you are talking about being a dad etc. look at Weller who still puts out a good mix of stuff. He can still attack a song with the vigour of the angry young man he was. I know Noel can be tender, but thats not all he can be, he's capable of a bigger range than that. I'd just hate the whole record to be along this vein. This is certainly better than the first tune though.

This has some shades of WPTWOTWOMS for me - especially the very ending. Miles better, of course - which says something as WPTW....is a good song - but just wanted to put that comparison out there.
