You, like many members of this forum, will never understand the difference between fact and opinion. Stop thinking that people are giving it a 10/10 because they're wearing "Noel-tinted glasses". People are giving it that because it's a fucking great song. I've played this song for various people and haven't heard a negative (or even neutral) reaction yet. Some people are givin' it 10/10 cos it's Noel that wrote it, simple as that. Serious question: are you a mind reader?

You're right music is subjective up to a point, but would you be comfortable with this sitting along side Stairway To Heaven, Gimmie Shelter, Like A Rolling Stone, Yesterday, Live Forever? Really? I can understand people loving this song, giving it 9.75 or whatever but a perfect score? One of the greatest songs of all time? I personally don't think so, not even close. It's not subjective "to a point". It's subjective. Period. There's no way to "objectively" judge music. You picked some good classic songs, but music is all about the listener in the end. IIHAG connects with me more than most of the songs you listed. Does that make it better? No, it doesn't. It's not worse, either. For example, if some kid wants to give a Justin Bieber tune 10/10 and Thirteen by Big Star 0/10, that's fine by me. I may not be able to understand a point of view like that, but it's all up to the listener. That's what makes music so beautiful, in my opinion. Music like other art forms is a about being creative. How is putting a young kid in front of mic with a backing created in two mins on a computer to create a song purely for financial gain creative? I think in that case you can be objective about music and say its bad.

Bit of a logical fallacy here. If people were ranking IIHAG 10/10 because Noel wrote it, they would also be ranking TDOYAM 10/10, the Good Rebel 10/10, and Digsy's Dinner 10/10.

Noel Gallagher wrote it and that's the main reason why it's great. I think at a high percentage we're all members of this forum because we love Noel Gallagher's style of songwriting, thus his songs! Except maybe for Beadyeyeunofficial, who's only here for Little James

I dont hate Beady Eye... I just think it was a better idea for Liam to restart something totally different (example : with death in vegas)... All those ancient memebers dont assume Oasis, Noel does it. And in term of songwriting, whaterver Liam said... Noel was the boss and the professional.

This song could fit easly in the tracklisting of the 3 first Oasis's albums and the Masterplan of course.

Solid 8 at least. I like Beady Eye but Noel's pissing all over them at the moment. With the exception of In a Bubble With a Bullet, I agree with you. But I personally think that song is better than TDOYAM, but not quite at the level of IIHAG. IIHAG - 9 IABWAB- 8.5 TDOYAM - 8 TGR - 7

I'm not one to proclaim it as the best song ever. And I'm not sure if it sounds better or worse because its new, and it's Noel. (It has grown on me in the past day).
My verdict at the moment is that -
This is Slide Away. But for Noel.
(Yeah, Liam songs edge it out for me, but fucking Slide Away, not bad going Noel!)

Its a 9/10 for me. This is the first time I've heard it, never heard the earlier versions of it. I think its beautiful. I can't wait for it to start growing on me.

I really wish the backing harmonies were louder, cos that's what Noel does best! I hope you can hear them clearer on the cd quality version.

Love it! Great song. I don't think it's Noel's best anyway... I'd say it's 8 or 9 but not 10. I still think I'll like Record Machine more.
