It's be great if he played it, I've always loved the song.
Not sure it's likely though.

I guess the song's got cult status among some Oasis fans. It isn't loved by the masses of us it seems, but those who like it, really like it. I think it's an alright song to be honest, but I'd rather have them put Stay Young on Be Here Now instead of Magic Pie. And I'd rather hear Noel play Angel Child on tour than this. We've only got one live version of Angel Child (In average sound quality), but countless of live versions of Magic Pie. I may come of as one who don't particualry like the song, but I do. Honestly

this song is nothing short of a magical trip and when you mix the lyrics, the music and the chorus it really does send you on a high
surely the time is right to mix up the set-lists a bit, im sure Noel has a soft spot for this song it just wasnt recieved as great as he thought it would be and thats why it got dropped in 1997
but like ive read on a few youtube comments' 1997 wasnt ready for this song'
are we ready for magic pie in 2011???
I am

I love it, always have. One of the best songs on BHN, and sums up that period beautifully. It's utterly outrageous, over-produced, arms in the air, cocaine grandeur nonsense, but I think it's immense all the same.
^^^ I think that acoustic version shows that there's a really good song in there too.

I thought nothing could spoil my mood on this glorious morning filled with anticipation. You did it, though. The idea of Noel playing Magic Pie as one of his 4-5 Oasis tracks on tour is enough to make me want to scoop my brains out. The only thing that could make me more ill is a "let's get Noel to play 'High Horse Lady'" thread. Scratch that. A "let's get Noel to play 'Force of Nature' thread" would be the saddest capper of all.

He needs to play it live, and he needs to do it with the full blown sound (and not give it the Wonderwall acoustic treatment). I have a real soft spot for this song. It's a cocaine induced epic.
Of course it's not Noel at it's finest, but it gets way too much criticism......

What's with the hate for MP?
I'd rather him play some more rare B-Sides like Carry us All though.

Carry Us All is great.
Love it every time I comes on! And great lyrics IMO.
Magic Pie is alright. But it's probably in the bottom half of the tunes that I'd want to hear Noel play.

Bad lyrics + melody that doesn't really go anywhere + 7 minute plus track + anticlimax after Noel called this one of his best songs ever + kept Stay Young off the album = HATE

Although hate is a relative term when talking about Noel Gallagher songs. If "Magic Pie" were a person, they'd get off with a mocking comment or dismissive wave, whereas if "Swagger Jagger" were a person I'd smash them over the head with a pole ax.

The only good bit is when the second verse kicks in...
The acoustic is a different kettle of fish...
But I would give a left bollock to hear him play Dyer Wanna Be A Spaceman...

I do agree that the acoustic version is much, much better.

I've always been a fan of the bridge in the song, the chorus was always the killer for me.
But I love the live versions, some of the guitar licks Noel would play were just beyond immense.

I forgot this acoustic version existed! I used to listen to this wayyyy back in the day. Dare I say I had a better quality version. Magic Pie was one of my favorites on BHN when it came out. It's got some great lyrics.
Thanks for resurrecting that version. Doubt he even entertains playing this on his tour though.
