Fantastic! I love the folky quirky groove, very catchy, great lyrics. Great first tune, nice one Noel.
To those of you not enjoying it, and after us seeing so much of the hate for BDI, I can't help but come to the conclusion that you in fact just can't be happy. Go spin Shakermaker one more time.

Officially the dumbest thing you've ever said, and that's saying A LOT because you say a lot of mindlessly negative garbage. If you don't like the song, there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone likes the TIOBI type song, but there's no way in hell Liam could sing these songs with the falsetto parts. It would sound awful to hear him even try. Exactly. Do you honestly think Liam could even try to sing this? why not? he sings Im Outta Time man... it's just my opinion but if you think im nuts, that's ok. I think whoever thinks this song is great is nuts so there you go.

Seems a decent lead single, doubt it will chart that well in the end though. It'll do better than Beady Eye just because Noel's releasing it as a cd single as well (Which was a huge mistake by Beady Eye not to do). A lot of us buy all the singles (cd) so this should be top 20 for sure I reckon. Digital sales will be crap as most of us will have it ripped from youtube and wont bother with the single sadly. The songs growing after every listen but i dont know, not the huge huge release i was expecting.

And yeah, the tune could of been written differently. It also could of been a fucking twenty minute jazz song, but it is what it is, isn't it? Noel does't need to water down the vocal range of his songs in order to fit Liam's limited range.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way if you go through the whole thread you'll find there are several people who are not entirely happy with the song. Some are disappointed, some saw this coming, some are in denial, and some genuinely love the song. If you loved TIOBI and POTQ , this is your kind of song/music. If you loved the actual Oasis classics, you're like "this is not bad but it's not that good either" I'm of the population who was never much into TIOBI or POTQ, hence my eh first impression

He couldn't sing it. Forget about it. yeah... IOT sure sounds shitty on the album.

I think whoever thinks this song is great is nuts so there you go. I know he sings I'm Outta Time.....but that doesn't mean he could sing this. This song would be physically impossible for him to sing. They would have to lower it drastically and change the entire dynamic of the song.

Aaaaaaaand THAT's why you have negative karma, not because you "tell it like it is". It's because you think your opinion is way more important than it is. Anyone with even a hint of a musical ear knows Liam could not sing TIOBI or TDOYAM. Now please, continue to enlighten us with your amazingly knowledgeable insight that we're too simple-minded to fully comprehend. The super important truth-teller has things to say. Everyone listen! Don't be fuckwads or losers, guys. (You should probably try to be a little less abrasive so you don't get laughed off this forum like you did the IGN boards)

the first thing you can do is listen to the song, no video....
videos hamper songs sometimes...
the song is good... very cool... not epic at first listen

I have to say lgfaver, you're not making any sense. Liam couldn't sing this song. Noel could put it in a lower key, but there would be something taken away from the song if he did that.
Secondly, stop saying that people are in denial if they like it. Someone could very well say that you're in denial for not liking it. Respect others taste.
Thirdly, while there may not be a DLBIA on this album, you can't make the conclusion that there isn't because of one song. When you scream, "I was right", it just makes you sound like a douche.
I think it's a good song. I won't try to get into the heads of people who don't like it, by saying "you don't like it for this reason". I'll just be happy that I like it, and that we have good music. I've had a solid 8 listens, and my rating is a 8/10.

NOW can we please NOT say "What if..." about this song, we had enough of that when DGSS came out...it's been over for a few years now...forget it

I don't quite get what you mean by the alternative versions. If you mean Liam could sing The Turning, yeah he could, because it was written for his vocal range. Look, Liam has a unique voice and he does what he can with his limited vocal range, but he couldn't sing this song as it was written to be sung. It was written by Noel for himself, not for Liam or anyone else. End of, there's no point in arguing about something that will never happen.

I'm really liking it, up for my 3rd listen right now. It is very radio friendly I wonder how this will be played live, with a brass? Would be really cool!

Find the opening lyrics a bit strange, thought instantly of that old song (just found it).
Noels are 'High time, summer in the city....'
That old 60's song is..
'Hot town, summer in the city...'
Okay not the same but i instantly thought of that song when i heard the opening.

i could never hear liam singing this song. he has never sung songs like that and he never will. there are some voice techniques you have to learn before singing some of this. he would never. and it would be a disaster. imagine he would singing this song live. he can't hit the high notes anymore. and he's to lazy to improve

It's Oasis light. It's TIOBI, which is one of my least fave oasis songs. Let's hope the others songs sound nothing like this one. Atleast Bring in the light made me wanna dance, this made put my joint out and go to sleep. Played the video once, don't need to give it a second play...that'll wait till the morning.
