just a bit disappointed... not that much though. I mean, i was expecting Noel to go the Falling Down/The Importance way but i still had hope for something classic. Those songs appeal to some but not to me. Not gonna compare to BDI because this is just one song but man.... Let's hope the bside is better, not to mention the rest of the album

Waste of time for me. Stayed up for hours and now I realize the video is no good in this region. Heard it once live, but now I can't get the song or video.

It really does get better with each listen. Listen again and each time a little bit louder too.

Waiting for the TIOBI/DOYAM mashup. I predict it'll be up by midweek.

Hugely disappointed after the first listen. It might grow on me a bit but first impressions are very underwhelming.

I love it !! and I have the feeling that there will be songs even better on the album... Dont get wrong i dont hate this song but i SOOO hope the above is true. I feel the same after i listened to Bring the light (Dont get me wrong Noels song is far better) but i feel a 'bit' underwhelmed. First new Noel song in 3 years and its 'alright' but not a huge huge hit i thought it might be. When it comes to debut songs off an album i always expect way much more Still its one song, cant wait for the album

well then, here we go. my first impressions... first of all, the video is completely retarded(though the waitress is HAWT) so unless you're a fanboy we can all agree on that. On to the important part, the music. It has that TIOBI sound, a palpable folk sound and just like that song, it's not bad at all. Unfortunately for TDOYAM , there's nothing extraordinary about it. And by that i mean there's not one part of the song that gives you chills or makes you go "ahh yeah... that's why i love Noel Gallagher/Oasis". Again, that doesn't mean the song is not good. Like everything in life, it's all relative, and there will be people(mainly Noel fanboys and apologists) claiming this is the best shit since "Don't Look back in Anger", just like there are Kobe fanboys out there saying Jordan's got nothing on him. LOL but back on point... Just like i thought, Noel wasn't gonna be putting out stuff that was in the same league with the early Oasis stuff, i think it's pretty safe to say that was a given but there were those swearing Noel would "show me" and "shut everybody's mouth". on with there review... the song lacks any serious sense of punch and there is no hook whatsoever... not a good one anyways. I think this has a shot however, to make the VH1 top20 weekly countdown(U.S.) and that would really do wonders for Noel profile here in the states. I feel like this song(and sound) targets an older audience, this isn't Oasis obviously but then again, it's just one song. On the the comparisons... Beady Eye's stuff(not all) was a bit more catchy and sounded more like Oasis. IT goes without saying that we can only judge based on this one song, but that's all we got at the moment. BDI also sounded more like Oasis(and yes, that's a good thing for me) because that's the way it was always gonna be having the same vocalist. If im not mistaken, this is the HFB's first actual(for real) single, this is no promo(free download/teaser) shit, this is the real deal, and comparing this to The Roller(BDI's first proper single) is quite interesting. Even if Noel hates it, One can't help but imagine what "The Death of You and Me" would sound like if Liam was singing it. I have no problem saying i believe it would be 100 times a better song but oh well... I am glad it didn't take Noel 3 years to release something and i am glad that i can say it's good music. I don't know that this will be the best song on the album, i sure hope that's not the case. However, there's a strong possibility that this is the most "commercial/marketable" song, and that would be a complete and utter disaster. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

First off...i have a negative karma because Liam fanboys didn't like it when i criticized BDI(mainly when BTL was released) and now Noel fanboys don't like me cos i tell like it is. Like for instance, when i said i doubted Noel still had it in him to produce masterpieces like Listen Up, DLBIA(and other great early Oasis stuff), etc... well guess who was right? The video is just nonsense imo, is it beautifully shot? sure but it's still nonsense. Second...The initial bit where they show the Cafe's facade and the Noel writing is cool but the rest is ridiculous. Finally, i understand what you're saying about Noel sung songs like TIOBI and others but, i believe liam could've sang this one and it would've improved the song drastically. Kinda like what happened in Lord Don't Slow Me Down.

really like it, but surprisingly i think it was quite predictably going to go this way, noels made quite a few heavily texturted produced tracks that have a very cleanly produced, considered feel, much like part of the queue or as many people have said TIOBI and this fits that bracket, looking forward to hearing more

I have no problem saying i believe it would be 100 times a better song but oh well... Officially the dumbest thing you've ever said, and that's saying A LOT because you say a lot of mindlessly negative garbage. If you don't like the song, there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone likes the TIOBI type song, but there's no way in hell Liam could sing these songs with the falsetto parts. It would sound awful to hear him even try.

Hugely disappointed after the first listen. It might grow on me a bit but first impressions are very underwhelming. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way if you go through the whole thread you'll find there are several people who are not entirely happy with the song. Some are disappointed, some saw this coming, some are in denial, and some genuinely love the song. If you loved TIOBI and POTQ , this is your kind of song/music. If you loved the actual Oasis classics, you're like "this is not bad but it's not that good either"

The earnestness in the way Noel sings that chorus really makes this song for me. It just melts my heart. And I'm a grown man.

it's just classic Noel fucking Gallagher. His melodies are second to none I mean who even thinks of these melodies? They just soar above the chords. This is what i wanted from Noel. It's a bit odd, its kinda groovin, kinda western, kinda jazzy, and that chorus pop stomp A soaring melody. This. I love his ear for melody and this one is no exception. Especially when it gets to the chorus it's so uplifting! And it gets even better the more I listen to it. Also when it was first played on radio 2 at exactly that moment the sun was coming out. And it's been shit weather here for days now. I take this as some kind of sign ;D

It's catchy...ish. It reminds me of older music, maybe the band they were trying to replicate a little bit.
I have a feeling it'll grow on me. Seems a decent lead single, doubt it will chart that well in the end though.
And yeah, the video is cool, but you can really tell his age, and even though we knew the kids of today (me) would never really get into it, it's definitely true now.
And while I'm maybe the slightest bit dissappointed, I'll still be singing the chorus as I go on now.
"...Just call me The Roller I'll squeeze and unfold ya..."
