This forum is chock full of them. Especially between 2008-2012. I am very pleased to say that I have never met anyone from this forum Well don’t sell yourself short. Some fantastic people around these parts.

It's interesting his partner has forgiving him but he has still been fired from the band. There's no point in Kasabian without Tom.

Good luck to him in his recovery and it's ultimately his partner's decision what she wants, but neither alcoholism nor ADHD explains his actions. That's in you or it isn't. Which is exactly what he said, isn't it. Well, then there's no need to mention it. But he did.

Which is exactly what he said, isn't it. Well, then there's no need to mention it. But he did. But people are just as horrid. They want him thrown in prison (if he had have been, he couldn't have complained, mind) etc. There's just this clamour now from people online who want other people's lives totally ruined. The bloke has issues. Those issues aren't an excuse for what he did – he's explained he's seeking help for his alcohol addiction. If he hadn't had said anything, you can guarantee the same people slating him for saying it would be slating him for not saying it (well is he even seeking help!?) We live in a proper weird society with some Black Mirror-esque requirement to prove yourself on social media. This is just an example of it (the response, not the act itself which everyone knows is disgraceful and wrong). Someone said: "Apologising isn't going to do anything." That's not strictly incorrect, of course. It isn't going to turn back time or undo anything. But then again if he didn't apologise, he'd get pelters for it (and rightly so if he shows no remorse).

He dragged his girlfriend by the ankles outside and abused her infront of their kid. That isn't just a "mistake", that's some fucked up shit.

ADHD? what is the link to domestic violence?

Ozzy osbourne famously tried to strangle wife Sharon while their kids were in the house in the late 80’s I think. Didn’t do his popularity any harm.

The only thing he can now do to atone in anyway is serve the sentence he's got and then also try and help himself get out of whatever place he was in which made him do that. That's different to offeirng an excuse for his behaviour - as others have said, it's either in you or not to do something like that.

ADHD? what is the link to domestic violence? Impulsive behaviour, I guess. But then lashing out in a moment is one thing and a sustained attack in front of a child is quite another.

I feel like, after reading this thread, my Kasabian version of 'Twat or Not a Twat' will be a bit of a walkover...

Read the small print and it gets even worse. Looks like it’s just natural for his character and any sympathy vote is a manipulative ruse. He’s totally finished - hopefully no way back for him.

Don't expect too much from people & stop worrying about them if they make such decisions, they have a completely different mindset. Each to their own, some fancy what's totally unacceptable for you.

Nice example for their kid. Happens all the time. When I used to work in Jobcentres I'd get women from other parts of the country making new claims telling me about the most awful experiences they'd had before getting into a shelter in my city so they couldn't be found. I wasn't even allowed to know the address of the shelters. They'd have new phones. At least 50% of them would miss an appointment with me within a few weeks. I'd look into their account to see if there was a note and see that they'd moved back to their abusers. The abusers often have a psychological hold over them that they just cannot break, even when they do manage to get away. Think about what that means - even when they left, usually after taking a particularly severe beating, they'd have written the abuser's phone number down somewhere for when they changed phones.

Many abuse victims forgive their abuser as their behaviour has become so normal to them that they think that's how relationships work.
He denied what he done till he was shown cctv footage which shows hes not sorry for what he done, he's sorry he was caught.
I'd bet this isn't a one off assault, this is repeat behaviour.
This hits close to home for me and I really hope she leaves him.

There's also the matter of the band moving forward under the name of someone who was present at the brutal murder of a pregnant woman in an attempt to start a race war.

I just randomly started thinking about the song Shoot The Runner with those god awful lyrics "I'm the king and she's my queen, bitch". I didn't like it the first time I heard it, and it sure doesn't sound better now!

Yeah I guess the lyrics themselves aren't necessarily awful on their own, but since Kasabian always sounded a bit "laddy", those lyrics come off worse than they would if for example Bowie had sung them.
