I wasn't into Kasabian since last month, but now, I'm starting to listen to their albums, their first 2 albums aren't that great, but there are some great songs like By My Side and Running Battle, but WRPLA is great and where the band find itself, next will be Velociraptor.

had a big itunes clearout, only 7 Kasabian tunes survived. its started to dawn on me that i dont like Kasabian as much as i thought i did. I think WRPLA coming out and seeing them in Swindon in the same week made me think they were amazing, but fast forward 2 years and i just dont listen to them anymore

Got the album today. Early review that I posted on facebook some hour ago:
1. Let's Roll Just Like We Used To Massive intro, followed by some kind of nostalgic memory journey with anthemic britpop chorus. 9/10
2. Days Are Forgotten First single off the album. Tom Meighan delivers attitude lyrics, partnered with another enormous chorus. Perhaps the band's best song ever. 10/10
3. Goodbye Kiss 60s-inspired string-spiced ballad. Yet another great chorus. Reminds me a bit of Ladies & Gentlemen from the previous album, but Kasabian never sounded this languishing before. 9/10
4. La Fee Verte Psychedelic number that almost sounds like something from the Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request - except for the electronic intro/outro. Flipped-out lyrics: "Old green fairy what you done to me, I see Lucy in the sky telling me I'm high, I went out for some milk three days ago, I met Dali in the street, he knocked me off my feet" 6/10
5. Velociraptor! Sounds like something off the first album. Energy-packed up-tempo track with a chorus that already feels silly addictive. 7/10
6. Acid Turkish Bath (Shelter From The Storm) Dramatic symphonic intro that makes you think of some majestic movie. Then follows five minutes of psychedelic rock meeting Electric Light Orchestra. Epic, and quite good. 7/10
7. I Hear Voices A fidgeting electronic strand drives this minimalistic number. No, thanks. 3/10
8. Re-Wired Massive glamrock-like thing with lots of attitude. A winner. 9/10
9. Man Of Simple Pleasures Best lyrics of the album. Individualist theme with nice chorus. 8/10
10. Switchblade Smiles Could've been from Chemical Brothers' 1995 album Exit Planet Dust. Quite cool. 7/10
11. Neon Noon Sounds a bit like Happiness from the last album. Ballad about ageing? 6/10
Verdict: I'm quite positive after two listens. Except for I Hear Voices, which I don't like, there doesn't seem to be much of the usual Kasabian filler on this album. Re-Wired and Days Are Forgotten are huge! 8/10

TBH, I love I Hear Voices... Also, Re-Wired is the next single... There's pictured of the vdeo shoot all over the web. The band are dressed in all black... There's a car, a push bike and a return of Noel Fielding as Vlad! My strange guess is that "Vlad" meets the band and takes them back in time through their old music videos on an old time travelling bike

Doing a version of I'm So Tired by The Beatles recently for an acoustic session at OuiFM: Wow! That was amazing!!!! Unrelated question? Was anyone else dissapointed the deluxe album box is white and not black? It was kind of a shock when I opened the package

Velociraptor! is amazing. Goodbye Kiss is my favorite song on that, maybe my favorite Kasabian tune ever.
Days are Forgotten's b-side is mega
Their 2 first aren't that great. West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is terrific.

I prefer Kasabian's last two albums to their first two (although I like them too).
Not many bands I can say that about.

Just listening to After The Gold Rush...how much does the whole "chewing on monkey brains" part of Days Are Forgotten sound like the "I saw screaming and..." part of Southern Man?

I love every song (like, 8/9/10 out of 10, seriously) apart from man of simple pleasures and neon noon.

ok i've given it a bit more spins. I'll say that it is the bands second best album after their debut. I still doubt their ability to put out a truly great album but I'll give this one a 6.5/10. Glad most of you folks are enjoying it Re-wired is one of my favorite tunes of the year though.

I still think Kasabian and West Ryder are better but it sits along those albums well and isn't overshadowed.

I think Kasabian are one of the most interesting acts in the world today. The fact they can go from songs like Goodbye Kiss to Switchblade Smiles shows they have some serious balls. I love the psychedilc side to their music which is something I feel Oasis had a go at but it always felt forced whereas Kasabian are effortless.
