Sure thing, Craig! I'll post on here when I've got it... HFP, most thought that at first. It's a grower

It's a good album but not great - though this is on first impressions and I've only listened to it twice. One thing that grates is the vocals on some of the tunes - lets face it, neither Tom or Serge are great singers, and they fall flat on some of the slower numbers. It's not as good as West Ryder but it could well be a grower on me.

They're not Freddie Mercurys, vocal wise... But I think they are solid enough singers.... But hopefully it grows mate. It's always good to like new music!

fucking hell this album is the definition of a grower! absolutely fucking loving it. YEa at first I was like "hmmmm" but after many listens I like it better than the last one, and I really like WRPLA! I did want more "pink floyd out there" sounds like they keep saying its gonna sound like, but there are some damn good songs on here. and yes, pistols at dawn should have been on the actual album! Now if I could only find a rip of the DVD (im in the USA, it would cost me BIG bucks to import the deluxe dvd version, hope its downloadable somewhere soon, really wanna see that DVD!!)

Listened to the album properly late last night. I've always felt Kasabian had a lot of potential to be a truly great band and put out some amazing albums (do love their dark atmospheric electronic debut though), but sadly after listening to Velociraptor I ended up feeling exactly the same way I did after hearing Empire and WRPLA first time, some good tracks but overall an opportunity missed.
A mate made me laugh when he said hearing the album is like having a 'third wank', starts off well with a lot of potential but sadly never goes anywhere.

True that, I'm not saying it takes anything away from their music, because while there are negatives to the voice, there are massive positives also. That attitude in Tom's voice makes tunes like Underdog and Club Foot for example. A bit like Ian Brown in The Stone Roses and I love them. But the album has a lot of potential to grow on me. It's much better than I thought it would be that's for sure - I was not impressed with the first couple of songs we heard and I was thinking they might churn out another mediocre album like Empire but thankfully that isn't the case.

I may be the only person on this forum who doesn't 'get' West Ryder. Decent album, to be sure, but I much prefer this new one and I stand by my assertion that it's their strongest work yet.

its a typical kasabian effort for me. decent, nothing special. With this being their 4th effort I think I've finally come to terms in just accepting that they are an average band in my books and I'll stop expecting them anything more than that. Their debut still remains their best. They have some tunes and I'll see them live one day for sure but in my humble opinion they won't make an album that will be one of my favorite albums of all time. With that being said I still think the does band pack a punch and I'll give this album a couple more spins just to see if my opinion changes.
i'll admit I'm mildly annoyed that when ever i go on this forum, this topic is the only thing being talked about in the "rock n roll" section though but i'm not gonna do anything to stop that so I'll just shut up haha.

The only problem with this album is... ist's been hyped too much.
Also, can't believe the amount of people asking for the DVD audio. It's out there, just buy it ffs.

I agree, i don't think the DVD or the audio should appear on bootleg sites, especially on the ones by people who love Kasabian. It's an official release, and a new one at that, people should buy it! It's not like a radio broadcast of a gig or audience recording that'd be lost without bootleg sites...

For me, I would gladly pay the price of an album for a quality official live recording of current material. Unfortunately, bands in general just keep releasing DVD's...which are fine but not interesting to me. I can't remember the last time I watched a music DVD, but I listen to bootleg audio recordings daily. So...even if I bought the import deluxe CD in America for a ridiculous price, I would still just have a DVD that I would never watch.

yea, I already bought the digital album. for me to buy the deluxe would cost me an extra $30-$40 on top of that (import for the US) not everyone has easy access to the dvd - just sayin'
Its nice to have a concert from one of your fav bands, just dont have tons of loot at the moment. Interested if they do another US tour at some point soon..

The way I see it, if I post just the audio online, it's almost free advertising for the band... I'm never going to post the video as that is 100% official. I see it as someone will listen to it and then might go "fucking hell, this is amazing! I'm gonna buy the DVD"... Because, TBH, WIZ has done an amazing job on the visual side... And if you haven't watched the actual DVD, you're missing out. Also, I think the band didn't actually make profit from the DVD. I think the extra £2-3 went on the costs, not to them... It could (and was meant to be) have been an official £15 DVD... But they pretty much gave it away. I honestly believe they'd be happy if people were getting the audio for nothing. Gains them more fans Anyway, I've split it all up, I just need to chuck some art together and upload it... But it may still be tomorrow as I had an operation on my right arm, so I've been quite slow as I'm right handed... And my painkillers make me drowzy...
