I can see what he means by 'jukebox record', each tune sounds so different. I hear elements of The Beatles, Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane and U2 in there that I wasn't expecting.
The first half of the album is amazing, second half fades a bit but still a great effort.
La Fee Verte, Goodbye Kiss & Lets Roll are the standouts so far.

I hear elements of ... Last Shadow Puppets I think "Empire" is closer to LSP than "Velociraptor!"

Does anyone else think that the start of Re-Wired is a little bit like the start of Underneath The Sky?

Why are so many people hating on Velociraptor the song? It's my favorite track on the album. So much energy and catchy hooks. IN YOUR FACE ROCK N ROLL!

Why are so many people hating on Velociraptor the song? It's my favorite track on the album. So much energy and catchy hooks. IN YOUR FACE ROCK N ROLL! It's a bit of a letdown after the live version, IMO... There's not enough of it, the voice effects are annoying... I don't think it's so much a bad song but more a case of it not sounding how people expected it to from the live version...

I prefer the studio version to the live version, live sounds kinda flat.

The song Velociraptor! lets down the album. Shouldn't be on there imo

The song Velociraptor! lets down the album. Shouldn't be on there imo I agree with you... It should have either been a B-Side or they should have played it more like the live version with the guitar intro and everything... And maybe put a bit of an instrumental gap between each verse and chorus...

It's a lesser Fast Fuse, but I dig the "Voodoo, Vaccine..." part.

Without Velociraptor the album would be a bit too samey, helps break things up a bit and give it some variety imo. Will be amazing live anyway

I'm a huge Kasabian fan and I wasn't sure on the first listen of the new album last night. I've listened to it more today and like most music, it's definitely grows on you. Stand out tracks for me are Neon Noon, Re-wired, Man Of Simple Pleasures and Days Are Forgotten. To be honest though, they've got their work cut out if they want to better WRPLA. That album is fucking immense, and worth the money for Underdog alone. It seems to be universally loved too. That record sound tracked my awesome summer of 09.
But this new album is starting to sound great to my ears. Although I stand by what I said before, Switchblade Smiles is a fucking awful song. (I hated Take Aim on the last album so it's no bad thing)

I finally got a chance to really listen to this album from start to finish today after a busy weekend. The production sounds fantastic as should be expected from Dan The Automator. The album passed my car test of driving around blasting the tunes and having it sound good. Highlights for me include:
- Let' Roll Like We Used To - Days Are Forgotten - Goodbye Kiss - La Fee Verte - Acid Turkish Bath - Re-wired
I can now see why Serge said the comments about 'Wish You Were Here' for the song 'Neon Noon'. The keyboards from Neon Noon definitely sound similar to the keyboards found on the song 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. I really hope they tour the USA this year or next.

I really don't like Switchblade Smiles so I approached this record with some trepidation. But the standouts on this are, to me, better than anything else they've done. If they do more like Let's Roll..., Goodbye Kiss, and Man Of Simple Pleasures in the future I'll always be on board.

Man Of Simple Pleasures for me is definitely one of the best tracks of 2011.

like the vibe of the album overall however i feel tracks 4-6 just lack something memorable and the songs get flat and repetitive. the last half of the album is really good and the first 3 tracks are good but the question marks still remain if they have a masterpiece album in them.
fav song on the album is neon noon followed by lets roll, days are forgotten and re-wired.
probaly rating it just short of 8/10, about the same as west ryder which i think has the stronger songs but more filler.
