Some songs on Dig Out Your Soul are well produced - Shock of the Lightning and Soldier On, but some are downright messy. There's nothing special about the early Oasis albums, but it had that echoey feel to it and it sounded as if you were in an arena listening to the band. Dave Sardy's albums sound flat and dull - sound as if they were recorded in the 1960s. I've heard other albums he's produced and it's all dull, dull, dull. No ambition from him at all - safe pair of hands, perhaps why Noel has hired him? Wow...I'd hate to have your ears. DOYS sounds great and I really like what he did with JET on Get Born. Very raw sound but still crisp. DOYS has real weight to the sound. As much as people hate GOYHHL and TNoR, they THUMP like no other Oasis studio recordings. Gotta hand it to Sardy for that. We heard how terrible Oasis were with production when they did it all with HC. I think Sardy did a good job piecing DBTT together and then I think he really hit a home run with his work on DOYS. People claiming DOYS sounds messy must either have shit speakers or be listening to some poor quality mp3s.

I think Sardy got it right for DBTT. Remember, that's the sound the band wanted for the album - so if you want to be disappointed then that emotion should be more targeted at the band. Concerning DOYS, I don't think it's bad production per se. Although I would like to know who's 'brilliant' idea it was to hide the choir in The Turning. What an asinine decision. Completely agree with the choir part - wonder which luddite thought it was too much of something different. This is what peed me off about Dig Out Your Soul - you look at the album cover expecting a pschedelic experience with dynamic sounds and all you get is boring boring same old guitar - apart from the cheap shite synth strings on Falling Down. I don't mind the sound of Don't Believe The Truth, because it's deliberately stripped back and has that sort of La's style to it. But Dig Out Your Soul, as solid as it is, just fails to realise it's potential in my opinion.

DOYS has a good sound also, but it doesn't have enough good songs...the melodies are easy and generic and the record relies on its sound to get its point across..just replace TWO OF THE WORST SONGS EVER(ain't got nothing and nature of reality),with BWTB and IBIA and you have an album as good as DBTT.....and also liam's singing is generally very good on DOYS....

Every song on DBTT is way too loud.. Lyla is uneven because there is no nice flow from verse to chorus

I find it very strange that in this day and age, no-one would have thought to take a photo of Noel either in the studio or leaving the studio? ?? I can confirm that Noel is DEFINITELY IN LA and in the studio. 100% sure.

Fuck sake! Sardys an excellent producer! DBTT and DOYS are easily 2 of the best produced Oasis albums (really like the deeper more electronic vibe of SOTSOG as well). The first few albums are poorly produced, no denying it, Morning Glory (the track itself) is really badly recorded/mixed, so much so that the majority of the parts get lost in the noise, the drums in particular). Anyway, Noel finally working on his solo album is great news, I'm sure he's got something special up his sleeve and if Dave Sardy is working on the project also then I for one have extremely high hopes... It was part of the droll psychedelic feel the album is supposed to have. The fact that the whole album (almost) in drop D contributes to this.

I hope he doesn't branch out too far. I now take back what I said about an acoustic album, I'd definitely prefer that to a heavily influenced weird album. Please don't do that Noel!

New album not old, very experimental. Not the acoustic ballads everyone is expecting from the sound checks. Finished at blackbarn last month in-between the rifles recording their third album. There's some pictures at twitter.com/iamdisturbance from inside blackbarn.

I think we must all prepare for the possibility that Noel's album may not end up sounding like Oasis. At all.
