I think we must all prepare for the possibility that Noel's album may not end up sounding like Oasis. At all. Thank god for that. We already have Beady Eye sounding Oasis-y. We don't need Noel following suit. I want Setting Sun/Falling Down (The Amorphous Androgynous remix)/something unexpected from Noel music ;D

As long as it sounds like Noel I am fine. And, since he is writing it, it probably will.
He is way more hit than miss in my books. Only a handful of his tunes would go into my dislike column.
Besides, we have BDI to sound like Oasis. A slightly softer Oasis...but the same kind of music.
People said they were more excited about BDI than Noel because they didn't know what it was going to sound like and Noel presumably was just going to sound a lot like what we had heard him do in Oasis.
Ironically is turns out that the BDI music isn't very far from Oasis. A mixture of acoustic and electric retro 60's-70's influenced music. Meanwhile it seems that Noel the one that no one really sure what he is doing now that we are actually thinking about it.
He'll do acoustic. He'll do semi acoustic. It'll be like DBTT. It'll be in the vein of DOYS. He'll be going for a more electronic sound. He'll be experimental. He'll stick to what he knows.
Everyone has a different opinion...and they all have valid reason for thinking them.

I love the music he's been making and that's why I keep following his moves

Luckyyyyy. Did Noel say anything about the sessions? I don't think my friend asked. Probably wouldn't have since he's just a casual fan. Why is it always the casual fans that bump into him?

I'm not sure he was aware of them during DOYS recording -- I got the impression from the part in "Tales from the Middle of Nowhere" where he talks about them that they were a relatively new discovery. New album not old, very experimental. Not the acoustic ballads everyone is expecting from the sound checks. Finished at blackbarn last month in-between the rifles recording their third album. There's some pictures at twitter.com/iamdisturbance from inside blackbarn. Are there going to be any ballads of any kind? I don't mean in the traditional acoustic style, but just any ballad in any style? And how experimental are we talking about? Are we talking about Falling down experimental? Or the remix of Falling Down experimental? I'd take Falling Down experimental and probably the in between of the orginal FD and the remix. Some kind of middle ground between the two. I agree with what another poster said, if Noel is going this route then it will either be one of the greatest things that he's ever made or one of the worst.

My guess is that the songs may be conventional sounding but with an electronic twist maybe? Maybe some unique sound effects with strings attached (literally). Dunno why this comes to mind but I was thinking slightly in terms of U2's Zooropa. Songs like Stay (Faraway, So Close)! and Lemon are structured conventionally but recorded in a unique, electronic way - just listen to some of the effects on those songs for example. Now U2 had electronic maestro Brian Eno with them - U2 hardly went off the scale with him, infact they produced their best albums. If it's true Noel has fellow electronic maestros Amorphous Adrogynous, then we could be in for something special. But it's a long shot when we know virtually nothing apart from the fact he's recording.

I think that there will be enough on the album that will able to be comfortably stripped back to a conventional setup of guitars, drums, bass, keyboard. And I would think a few could probably be convincingly stripped back to acoustic. After all we know that Noel likes to do acoustic bits on radio.
Even if the album is too electronic or experimental for some there will surely be enough radio sessions and live recording done to give everyone something to listen to. Maybe even alt versions like we got for DOYS?
Personally, I think that what Noel does might me "experimental" for Oasis...but I think it will hardly be crazy enough to put off the fan base IMO.

I think that's the limit that Noel is willing to go.

But @ the core of it...I think he likes making the music that he likes making. Anyone think that it's possible that AA could have produced the album with Noel and then Sardy is just mixing it?

I hope he works with Mike 'Spike' Stent, loved his works on SOTSOG(even if the shitty keyboard choir was overused). But i woulndt mind if he does work with Dave Sardy

Sardy's production is too one-dimensional. It's all very straightforward and to the point sonically, which irks me. He's brought out more bass on the last two Oasis records, but he's not an ambitious producer in the least.

GD, as usual, is probably correct once again. If I had to place a bet I would say Sardy is only there for the sound mixing portion of the record and is not fully involved with the actual production. If you go and listen to the Noel interviews for the Oasis Music Videos DVD on Time Flies, he makes a comment to the effect of "I'm not really sure why we even bother with producers anymore in the studio, I don't even know what he does, he's just mixing some sounds really". For my money, when this record is released, you are likely going to see at the bottom credits: Produced by Noel Gallagher and TBD Producer. Additional production and Mixing by Dave Sardy. This is Noel's little baby right here, he will have the final production cut and credits when all is said and done. Kind of like how A-ROD likes to fancy himself a player/coach on a baseball field, even though he's not technically. That is how I would describe Noel in the studio, completely obsessed with every little detail taking place. He will not release this album until he feels it is absolutely perfect. And from a true fan's perspective, that is the only way I want it served.

Lillywhite should produce his album...and remaster all oasis albums for that matter........ I heard Lillywhite was going to remaster the entire Oasis catalog, but then he was given a copy of your very own "Be Here Now" re-master, and was scared off the entire project completely. Purely out of fear to being unfairly compared. Honestly, I made it through your entire work, and it wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be.

I'm actually listennig to the new EP from UNKLE - Only the Lonely (Thank itunes for the mistake on the relase date ^^). The track with Gavin Clark - Wash the Love Away could fit perfectly for Noel, it could be a great piece for a stadium audience. A nice pop song with a great psychadelic loop inside. I wish Noel feels the same way.

I think we should expect the heavier stuff to sound like DOYS and some of DBTT and the acoustic stuff to sound like classic Noel.
Think Bag It Up with lashings of Falling Down and The Importance Of Being Idle.

You're saying that based on what, exactly?
Very few people know what exactly he's doing inside that studio or what it sounds like...

I think we should expect. Thats the way he has been going musically recently and I think thats exactly what he wants to sound like. For BHN he wanted that heavier and dense sound and I think he found it in a few tracks on DOYS and working with Sardy and we know he has looked at doing a few electronic tracks over the years and the Noel acoustic tunes, well there a given! The band split for a reason, because they had different views on what they wanted to make and I think they started going there seperate ways within Oasis around 05-06 so to me personally Noel's output on the songs he has wrote will be a taster of what is to come. So in my head that is what I expect, it is natural to think he will carry on his musical path but I'm not saying we could be surprised and see and hear something completely different.

Think "atmospheric" and "soundscape", very much like unkle, chemical brothers, lysergic suite, not at all like the demos doing the rounds. A lot of experimentation with various instruments, mellotrons, sitars, keyboard effects. There's a track I'm almost certain he's ripped off the end of TBWTL live.
