Does anyone know about the new book by Tony McCarroll? It's the first I've heard. It's called Oasis The Truth. Out 4th Oct Sadly it goes on to say 'The Noel Truth is nothing like the truth' then The inside story of my life as Oasis' drummer.... On Amazon for half price.

I've not seen any advertisments for it. I'm sure WH Smith and Waterstones will stock it. Quite looking forward to it. Hopefully it will be in a similar style to the book by Ian Robertson. Straight forward and honest. I found a majority of Oasis books very biased and not quite the real deal.

The synopsis off Waterstones:
In 1991, five wannabe Mancunican musicians came together and cracked a spark that was to ignite the explosion which became Oasis. The band went from obscurity to become a global phenomenon in the space of a year, achieving worldwide recognition and selling over 70 million records. Pre Oasis, drummer Tony McCarroll joined a band called The Rain, linking up with guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and singer Chris Hutton. Hutton was later replaced by Liam Gallagher who in turn brought brother Noel along. What started out as five young lads with a common dream of becoming rock stars eventually disintergrated into in-fighting, clashes of egos and financial disputes. In 1995, following the release of Definitely Maybe - the fastest-selling debut album of all time - things came to a head and Tony left the band. In this candid and hilarious book, Tony tells one of the most in-depth rock'n'roll stories of modern times: he reveals the truth about the early years before the band was even formed; he tells of the drug consumption and sexual activities and he talks of his much-publicised rift with Noel Gallagher. Tony's recollections include stories involving David Beckham, Prince, Eric Cantona and John McEnroe.
That last line, sounds the interesting I reckon. Will buy this book I think

I got a copy of this yesterday from Amazon, I have read the first few chapters and so far it seems quiet good. Just getting to the bit where Noel joins the band & Tonys account is slightly different the story Noels has told over the years .

Just finished this book and although I am slightly biased it is a fantastic read. It gives the first true indication to as to how the band dynamics were made up and it's packed with incidents that even I had forgot! Hope you all enjoy it, BigUn.
ps. Noel refused to let the title be 'The Noel Truth is Nothing Like the Truth' and so is now simply called 'the Truth'!

A long long time ago.......I feature heavily in the book which makes me feel very special! I knew the whole band from when I was a child. Still occasionally get a text of Noel but see Bonehead and Tony more often. Anything controversial in the book? Loads!!!!

Let's hope Tony is better as an author than he was a drummer......

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion about Tony's drumming, but if I agreed that would make both of us wrong. The whole force of the band changed when Tony left. And not just musically. It signalled an end to the 'let's have it' attitude that had caught everybody's attention only a year or so earlier.
I think the book gives a whole different perspective on the band. He tells it in a really honest and open way and it left me laughing more than anything else. It's the Gallaghers as never seen before. I'm glad Tony got to tell his story, he deserves to.

I don't really see Tony as a big part of the ethos of Oasis. I think Oasis lost that "Let's have it" attitude when Bonehead and Guigs left and Noel got clean. When the band became more jobbing musicians than a gang of mates.

BIGUN'S IDENTITY REVEALED:
Soon after being fired from the band, McCarroll found himself back in the same job, helping to clean David Beckham's black Ferrari Spider.
He claims he and his employer, known only as "Big Un", mistakenly disabled the car's retractable roof just as a "coiffured and lotioned" Beckham prepared to drive it to Old Trafford to sign a new contract with United.
The glum superstar was forced to take his Cadillac Escalade 4x4 to the meeting instead. Soon after he drove off, however, McCarroll (a Man City fan) miraculously fixed the Ferrari's roof. These things happen.

That article seems to be written by a man who hasn't even read the book.
I wasn't Tony's 'employer' that day. He never worked for me after the band had made it. It wasn't Tony who fixed the car roof, it was me and there was no miracle involved. I am also referred to by name at the start of the book.
If he doesn't believe it he should give Becks a call. He'll confirm it.
I can also personally confirm that the attitude that was such a driving force in 92-95 was well and truly missing by Be Here Now.
Hope this helps,
Yours Sincerely, BigUn.
