It's a decent song, but it's definitely not a classic in my book. The "someday all the world will sing my song" bit is very cheesy, to say the least. I don't see that as cheesy at all. It's cheesy if you take it literally. But I interpret song as "philosophy" or "way of thinking", etc...in the sense that 'someday the world will see things my way.' Likewise, I think the line of "In my heart the beat goes on" acts as a double entendre.....he means it literally that he'll continue to live, but it's more than that - he means that he'll continue his passion. And there's even a pun in there --> The beat signaling the songs and how he'll continue to deliver them. It's simplistic but yet deep, whether if it was intended as such is anyone's guess, though. With these interpretations, I don't think it's cheesy at all, and actually adds to the genius of the song overall. It's a classic in my book that's for sure.

My favorite so far. I honestly think this could get decent radio play in the U.S. if it was just just given some recognition. The chorus is great. Very catchy, I think. As many people of said "So long, so long", just gets me. What a tune.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm not too mad on this tune either. Its ok, but I'm not getting it like most people on here.
I quite like the verses, but not too keen on the chorus. I don't mean that it doesn't build or anything like some others have said, its more that I think it sounds a bit like a kids song or something. Especially the 'someday all the world will sing my song' bit. It kind of reminds me of being about 8 years old singing in a school assembley!
On the whole though, I don't mind it. And I love the whole album, easily a 9/10 for me. At 1 point or another I've had at least 1 of the tunes contantly in my head. In fact right now its TBGO....I'm always open to changing my mind about it!

Am I the only one who likes the flute during the chorus? I think it's fucking brilliant. Not to forget the melody of the vocals, especially the chorus. Love it.
Andy Bell you genius.
Also sounds to me as a funeral song. Like your soul will continue to live on somewhere else and you'll always be remembered by your loved ones. Somewhere in my heart the beat goes on....

Gave this song 6.5/10 on my first listen, then 7/10 on my second. Probably won't rise higher than that. Decent song that should've been better. Never set the song up for a large chorus, when you don't have a large chorus. Parts of it were good, but dodgy songwriting did it in. It doesn't have a large chorus? "Soo long, Soo long..." Clean your ears out man

At times I seem te hear an alt-saxophone. It is most likely just a guitar effect that sounds like a sax, but I like it! You can hear it the best with headphones.

Sounds like latter day Take That. Probably my least favourite on the album.

Its a fantastic song. The best song Liam has been given to sing for a long, long time. unfortunately(for Oasis) this is actually an accurate statement.

This and The Morning Son are the best songs Liam has sung on since Stop Crying Your Heart Out in my opinion.

This and The Morning Son are the best songs Liam has sung on since Stop Crying Your Heart Out in my opinion. Meh, from the last three he's sung on I'd take Four Letter Word, The Roller, Bag It Up, The Turning, The Shock Of The Lightning, I'm Outta Time, Turn Up The Sun, Lyla, Love Like A Bomb, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Keep The Dream Alive, and Let There Be Love over it personally.

In my opinion, this is, without a doubt, the closest they have ever come to The Beatles. Liam's voice, the instrumentation, the lyrics, even the backing harmonies in the interludes! It's just beautiful. Although I will say that it doesn't come near The Masterplan. That's my opinion though.

I'd agree with that. It's my least favourite Andy song on the record. At first I was just underwhelmed but now I'm starting to actively dislike it because so many people love it and I guess it definitely will be a single (I'd much rather have KFAD as the next Andy song). The part after come on, come on... should have been great but both lyrics and melody remind me more of some kids tune or German Schlager than anything else. But what annoys me the most is what they did with Liam's voice. I really don't get why they had to put so much effect on it, now it sounds super bland and in certain parts really really odd (the 'how I wanted it to...' for example). In Oasis history I'd compare it to SCYHO, which is a similar style and it's also one of those major songs that many love and that I'm rather indifferent about. But for me SCYHO is saved by Liam's vocals which give it at least a bit of an edge (compared to Noel's or Leona Lewis' version which sound much more boring). But with the odd sound effects they put on here, there is no chance of that happening with TBGO. I just hope it sounds better live...

I think if I was mourning a death or going through a breakup I'd appreciate this song more than I do. As it stands now I agree with the people who have said it sounds like a kid's song in parts. I understand why people like it, but I can't wrap my head around people saying its the best song on the album. That's why we're all different though I guess.

This is mint, classic! How can you say you didn't fall in love with this wonderful tune? Diggin' the piano on it, it's the bollocks.

Sounds a lot like "Keep the Dream Alive" to me!.....song is ok. Probably would get tired of it after a while.
