Someone with a good ear please figure out the guitar chords! This song is an absolute classic! I'd describe it as the best xmas sounding carol of all time.

Has no one spotted the blatant Keep the Dream Alive riffs all over this thing? Andy's ripped himself off big time.
I've heard people saying Kill for a Dream sounds like KTDA, but this one is littered with the same riff and bassline. Listen to the intro and outro...and the chorus right after Liam sings "the beat goes on..."
Am I crazy?

Definitely a masterpiece ... btw I can see how Any wrote this. He started with the Don't look back In Anger C to F alternation thing then did a bit of the Progression - C - G Am E (thought it may be Em) ... then veered off ...

After listening to oasis for all these years,NOW you are complaining about dynamics? Definitely. Especially on a ballad like this. BHN aside, Oasis' softer moments were not just full of melody but also had some dynamic variation. It helps really sell the more emotional parts of the song. There's no buildup in this song and I think it hurts its overall effect. It's also one of the more muddy sounding tracks, which may be because of the source. When we get a proper rip some clarity might help it a bit, but for me it just sounds like a generic ballad. I totally understand why people like it, but it's missing the things that make other parts of the album great for me.[/quote Liam never seems to put any dynamics in his singing IMO. He's got 2 modes and never shall the twain meet. This album has some dynamics...but they aren't generally mirrored in Liam's vocal. Wonder if it had anything to do with him putting down his vocals before the guitars, piano etc....

The effects in Liam's voice are kinda shitty. I guess Lyllywhite wanted to make it sound angelical and celestial but it only hurt this fantastic song. I would like it more if it was rawer. All and all, production wise, I see it as the Some Might Say of the album.

Can't believe some of the negative comments about this song, if a certain Noel wrote this, it might be a different story. Andy really has outdone himself here, there is something soothing about it and Liam has really been saving his voice for this album, never thought it would sound so good again

I agree with all the 'classic' comments. This can be nothing but an all time classic. the chorus moved me to tears. TBGO caught me in the first place when I listened to itunes preview, now it turns out to be just as great as I expected.

Planned to wait till the release of the album, but I had to listen to it once since I thought it would reflect my sentimental mood after it was announced tonight that Peter Forsberg retires.
If there is one Oasis song that I would compare it to, it is I'm Outta Time. Very Lennonesque. And very good, judging by the first listen. I was a bit surprised by the chorus, not really what was expected (as others have pointed out). But still, I liked the chorus. Especially the "So long, so long" part and "somewhere in my heart the beat goes on". The outro quite similar in style to IOT as well. I would say that it is probably as good as IOT, and I hold IOT as one of Oasis' 25 strongest tunes.

It's a decent song, but it's definitely not a classic in my book. The "someday all the world will sing my song" bit is very cheesy, to say the least.

I do like this song and the Beatles are my favorite band. But if I didn't like this song, they would still be my favorite band.

Yes, it is possible. No, it's not the Beatles. It's Beady Eye. Sounding like the Beatles does not = the Beatles. And again, I like this record, so it's best for me to not compare it to things like the Beatles. Because TBGO does not even come close to songs like Let It Be, Hey Jude, Strawberry Fields Forever, A Day In The Life, etc. But I'd rather talk about the positives of the album (being that it's really a great listen and I enjoy every song) rather than try to hold it to the standards of the greatest rock 'n' roll band that's ever been and ever will be.

I really like the song. For me the best in the album with For Anyone. Liam can say what he wants about Rock and Roll, but without Noel, they are clearly better in pop songs and ballads. It´s the only great singalong too, i think Roller falls a little short.
