From my point of view BDI are ripping off as much Noel did. Never said that in red. That in green, just Its not really how much BDI ripped off, its the fact that they didnt really put anything of their own into it, other than a solo and lyrics. When Noel ripped, at least he put his own thoughts and ideas into it. Even his most egregious rip, say C&A, had its own ideas. While I would agree that the verses are a massive Instant Karma rip off. The chorus is not really similar to that, i can't hear it anyway.

but if I had to rate it now, I would give it a 6.5/10. Probably will grow to a 7/10 I'd hate to have you as a teacher! I translate to a out of 5 scale. So, 6.5 would be 3.25/5 and grow to a 3.5/5. So its actually a pretty good grade.

The chorus is not a Karma rip, but the chorus in the end only makes up a small portion of the song compared to the verse. its the equivalent of 65-70% of the melody being ripped off.

It's not that I hate any of his tunes...just wouldn't go out of my way to hear the other.

And yea TBWTL, you have to love the bass line in that one.

TBWTL is awesome live (as are the re-mixes). If the studio version was fully produced and had guitars on it, it would be awesome. He tried something different by leaving guitars off it, fair play. It's good, but the live versions show it's true potential of being a proper quality track.

Just listened to the Roller and it doesnt sound worthy to be a single especially 1st single. Liam sounds too nasally with his 'Roller oh ohs' too.
Sons of the stage and 4 letter word and far better in my opinion, no wonder this song didnt make the cut on the 2 previous oasis albums. And I dont think this song gives a good enough representation of the band as their first single as alot of people and media will be wanting to slate them... feel free to discuss...

I was right about the big dip in the sound after about 15 seconds, heard another persons version (won't say where as i'm not sure if it's allowed now ) find that a bit strange.

Amazing how opinions change - when DOYS came out, people couldn't rip on TBWTL fast enough - now it's about the best thing since sliced bread...
The Roller is a nice song. It adds to the excitement of the album, but I still prefer Four Letter Word. It is a better choice for a lead up single though.
I'm still baffled why LAG decided to make Bring The Light the first song we heard from BDI - it's by far the worst thing they've released so far.

I like FLW. The only part(s) I cant stand is the "Nothing ever lasts forever" - it seems to abrupt. If there was some sort of melody in that line, it would be so much better. The ending is a bit lackluster too. Originally, I wanted to give it high marks. I've come down to a 7.5/10, but it's really fluctuating between that and an 8. Can't make up my mind.
The Roller just seems like a much more completed song in every aspect. Someone said the outro is lazy - I disagree. While it is repetitive, it doesn't go on forever like on TBWTB, and it doesn't feel like it drags on like with BTL. The solo isn't forced and fits the song very nicely. Has solid lyrics, and a great melody.
I really dig it.

I think a big part of the TBWTL thing is because it sounded better live and that redeemed it somewhat. I have always be steadfast in my indifference to it myself. Lol

Liam's vocals are fucking great and the whole song sounds so complete, I can't wait to hear it live, brilliant song!

Ya I think the repetition is actually amazing, its the part that gets stuck in my head the most, and its a part I could see myself belting when wasted.

i don't give a fuck that its a rip off. this tune is fucking great. It doesn't break new ground but its a tappin, poppy, groovy tune. Its been a day and I've probably played it twice as much as BTL. Respect to Noel as well saying its T-Rex doing Instant Karma (its obvious now clearly) but thats a great description. Its got some glam in there but its got some soul too.
Gem although may not write the best tunes ever but he at least goes out a little bit with different styles fused with his glam signature. You've got the garage rock of Eyeball Tickler, psychedelic TBWTL, the glam HITBP, acoustic tune with Liam and now the stompy, groovin tune with the roller.
