It's a bit derivitive and 'by the numbers': a shrewd move on behalf of beady eye: just give the masses what they want; easily digestible 'product'. It's not radically different enough to appease many hardcore fans of Oasis and affiliated offshoots: it's a 'safe' choice that is aimed at the wider market and I can't say I blame them.
Hopefully more 'rockin' goods' will appear on the album. Up 'til now the output seems patchy: it's not a load of kack, but it's not genius either: 5/10.

I'm happy as anything that we're getting these tunes.
I mean back in i think it was early November we were a bit worried as its all been quiet. Since then...
Bring the light (Not great received) Sons of the stage - great b side Four letter word - Great album opener The Roller - Excellent song
Plus the 30 sec clips of all the album which does seem promising.
Plus a tour in March. Things are looking good.
Was gutted when Oasis split up, and granted Noel deserves some time (young family as well) away but being greedy i wanted new music asap.
Beady Eye are delivering so far

"10/10 and 9/10" you guys must be joking. you canÄt be serious by that Granted people are going OTT as its a new tune so theyre praising it big time but its not bad though is it ? But I bet your rating is 1 or 2 out of 10 ? So we go from one extreme of people going a bit OTT to the other where people would slate it whatever its like

BTL - 8/10 (love it personally just because it is so different) SOTS - 3/10 (hate it, think it's awful tbh) FLW - 8-9/10 (adore it, proper banging track) TR - 7/10 (good singalong but nothing specail - decent enough to listen to)

I don't want to piss on the bonfire (Four Letter Word was pretty good), but The Roller is 90% Instant Karma.
You can literally sing Instant Karma over the melody.
Come on tom, give me some of your wisdom...

BTL - 8/10 Personally love it, except from a few poor lyrics I think its a belter, old school rock n roll with a hint of weller, genious.
SOTS - 8/10 Great cover, suits Liams voice, great guitar, should be a good one live.
FLW - 8/10 Thats what I'm talking about, what an album opener, few more of them please.
TR - 8/10 Maybe predictable, may sound like lennon but who cares, it's so good man.
For me it's 4 quality songs but nothing special as of yet. I'm talking i'm outta time, falling down (in recent years.)

The song is 10 years old! If it was a proper classic it wouldn't have been left off three different Oasis albums. It's alright, but is too much of a rip-off of Instant Karma in the verses.
Beady Eye are fulfilling expectations to me so far - a love of all things 60's but fairly average songs.

8.5/10 I think, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and bumped it to a 9/10.
Still, this poll is meaningless as it was ruined yesterday.....

Beady Eye are already far better than I ever expected.

just the verses?
jesus, it's IK with alternate lyrics for christ sake.
the tune is fine, but where does a well done replication of a classic stand, from a holistic critical standpoint?
C for me.
Of course it will be a bit higher and lower for others, your mileage may vary.

VERY Instant Karma but I like it a lot more than Four Letter Word.
8/10 for me and a renewed optimism for the album.

The verse piano part sounds a bit like Instant Karma, other than that the only similarity I can see is that it's a mid-tempo piano-led song. Anyways I think it's ace and I genuinely think this could be the biggest hit the chaps have had since 'The Importance of Being Idle'. 9.5/10 for me.
One thing I've been struck with by the Beady Eye stuff is the enthusiasm you can hear on the songs - their best produced stuff since Morning Glory. To be honest I'm starting to be really glad Oasis split up, think it was the right move for all concerned. Liam, Andy and Gem are free to do what they want in the studio and actually put out their best songs while Noel can do what he wants without feeling the need to follow the Oasis sonic blueprint which had got a bit tired.

The people who don't like the song and slag off the ones who are rating 9/10, 10/10 are really annoying!

The people who don't like the song and slag off the ones who are rating 9/10, 10/10 are really annoying! I was about to say something between these lines. It's happening the same thing all over again: people just can't comprehend that everybody's tastes are different. Jesus. Just respect it, or try if it's so hard.

I'm gonna let up on the hate-pedal and even though the IK likeness makes me cringe a bit, the refrain and balance of the tune are quite damn solid.
spose an 8 then after 4-5 listens.

While I don't feel it is a 9 or 10, there is no need to slag people off for stating their opinion. For me it's a solid 7/10, or average. Don't think I'll be skipping it over, but it ultimately won't define the album!

8/10. I don't think it is that similar to Instant Karma (then again, I don't know that song too well...gave it a few listens) and even if it is, who cares. It's hard to make good music without ripping off classics and I'd rather have a good song that is a bit similar to a Beatles tune than a brand-new, innovative and original tune that is mediocre. That's why I like Oasis even though they are sometimes very derivative, and I don't mind if BDI is going the same way. The Roller is a great catchy tune, the guitar solo is nice, the lyrics are great. It could easily have been on any Oasis record since 2000.
