Ryan Adam's new album is brilliant stuff. Yep. Those who say it's on the same level as Heartbreaker are on some serious drugs, but it's definitely very good. I also really like Laura Marling's new album. Heartbreaker is in a class of it's own, one of the best albums of all time. The new one is about as good as most of his other solo stuff post-Heartbreaker; that is to say fantastic, but it's also a lot more accessible. Apparently he was inspired by Marling for the new record: he heard her second album and threw out a bunch of his own tunes.

Actually I think that's why I checked her out in the first place. If someone I respect praises another songwriter so highly, I'm automatically intrigued. Also, Gold is very underrated. It's not Heartbreaker, but like you said, what the hell is?

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
Bought this album a couple of hours ago and listening to it for the first time right now. I'm loving it.
I'm seeing BE on Tuesday again, but I'm completely in "Noel mood" right now. It's your fault, Mr. Gallagher.

I sometimes wish he would go back to that kind of really produced folk/country/pop song writing. The way it's produced really reminds me of Noel's new album, but with a lot more Americana aspects.

I also love Answering Bell. That song should've been enormous. As far as Ryan's whims go, I think I've accepted that he's one of those artists that will always follow his latest fleet of fancy, regardless of what his fans want him to do. It's been obvious for a while, but I'm finally okay with it. Just happy to go along for the ride, to be honest. EDIT: Sounded a bit snottier typed-out than in my head. I didn't mean it like that. I also sometimes long for something else like Gold in Ryan's catalog.
