This topic is to discuss Bring The Light and what it is.
Here is my opinion:
1) It is not the Single as it has not been announced as so. If it was the first single, then they would have officialy told us. And why give it for free ?
2) It could be an album track (a filler), but the sound seems quite different from the 20sec clip, so I have doubts about this. But seems plausible if they want to change style.
3) It could actually only be a b-side which could explain why they are giving it for free.
4) It could be an ALT or demo version of Bring The light, as they did cleary mention that it was for free for the fans. Furthermore I feel this song is not accomplished... Maybe there is a more guitar rock'n roll version (like there was for The Turning).
5) It could be track which did not fit with the album, but which they decided to give for free to the fans.
I actually think its 2, 3 or 5.
What do you think ?

I agree with what you say, but why didn't they announce it as a single then ..

We have a cover art for BTL. I guess it can't be a b-side then. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a single - I believe we'll have the real single before christmas, Vlad The Impaler-style.

Does it really matter? Why not just call it the first song released by beady eye. Singles don't mean alot these days anyway. just enjoy the song, enjoy the b side when we get to hear it whilst waiting for the album.

Singles are within the best songs from the album normally. If this is a single and one of the best songs of the record, then wow I will be dissapointed... I am seriously concerned about the album now. Fortunately the 20sec clip looks good.

Has it been confirmed Bring the Light is the song from the video? Listening to that spanish journalist clip it sounds pretty similar, but it sounds like they were performing it live. What's the sitch?

If its not a single, why does it have a b-side?? Do taster downloads usually come with a b-side??? Did your download really have a b-side cos I turned my MP3 upside down and I couldn't find anything.... Bring The Light is being released strictly through the BDI website as a free download and on a limited edition 7" vinyl record and they were kind enough to put a track on the b-side. I havent heard any mention of a single or a music video yet.

Bring The Light is the first official release! There will be no other release on the 15th or the 22nd as this hasn't fully been released yet.
Whether it will be an album track or not well I'm not sure, but it is not a b-side due to the nature of the release.
As it has been stated elsewhere this could simply be one of the filler tracks or more unusual tracks that they decided to do a limited release. Free download and limited amount of vinyls before the meaty stuff comes next year. Remember this has had little publication before hand and has had little promotion.
I very much doubt we will have any more Beady Eye releases in 2010 though, so enjoy this and the 'supposed' cover coming out in 11 days time too.

I think because BE are are "New" band, that's why they are releasing it for free and kinda testing the waters before the unleash everything else.
By the way Bring the Light is rocking!!!!!!!!
Come on folks, turn your getto-blasters up and rock with Beady Eye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's available strickly through the BDI site on limited vinyl and they were kind enough to put a track on the b-side aswell, which makes sense as Bring The Light is also available as a free download on the BDI. If you ask me, that's a fucking weird way to release a single. Also, no official source has mentioned anything about a single or music video but simply stated that Bring The Light is the first album track "made available".

Plus the song is not to be for sale either digitally or physically, apart from 4000 vinyls which have already been sold. It literally can't chart. And the video wouldve been released within a day or so of the song being available to download. This is just a free download to get a bit of publicity and generate traffic to the site

Courteeners did exactly the same thing a year ago when they released Cross Your Heart and Hope to Fly as a free download just before they played their big gigs in Manchester. They also sold a limited edition vinyl of that with - guess what - a b side! It As it happened it was furthest thing from a "traditional" Courteeners tune that appeared on the album A month later they released their proper first single, You Overdid it Doll - with a video. Aside from having some synths it was back to being like the Courteeners. I suspect Bring The Light and Beady Eye are just following the same strategy. Remember when the Falling Down remix came out and everyone started slating that for being shit and panicking that Oasis had gone dance? In the words of the first proper single from DOYS: "all in good time" my friends...

They even say on the BE website that "there's going to be lots of exciting announcements in the coming weeks," so we can probably expect news on the first traditional single coming up. The line between what is and isn't a single is kind of blurred with this free download stuff anyway.

^ totally agree.
and didn't Liam say that they wouldn't tour straight away because people wouldn't know the music, they could be applying the same principle to the singles and album.
