Glastonbury 2004 seems to be one of the most hated Oasis gigs of all time and I don't understand why. Liam's singing from this show really gets unfair criticism, he sang really great compared to 2005 to 2009(except for SYCHO but that's it.) So why is Liam's singing criticized so much from this show and why is this concert hated so much in general?

His vocals are poor Liam. A good day Liam has much better. The gig was uneventful, lifeless, dull - I don't think the fans helped either, some of which were subdued.

Vocals were poor? Please give me some examples, I watched the whole show on youtube and his vocals were great except for SCYHO. Are you actually comparing his singing there to his singing from 2005 to 2009?

I think because it was the worst gig till that date. Compared to the gigs from 2005 to 2009 it isn't that bad, but it got the label "Worst Oasis gig EVER" back in 2004, and the label simply stayed.

Sorry mate but that gig was a nightmare, Liam was wearing his maw's house coat, Zak's drumming was a total dirge and Liam's voice was garbage. Oasis at their lowest point IMO.

Didn't think it was that bad apart from liam's dress sense

Liam's vocals were pretty good, better than on the DBTT tour. I think the reason why nobody likes Glastonbury 2004 is because of Zak's drumming, the songs were played much slower than usual.

zak was still learning the songs and it was one of the first times that it was completely clear that liam's voice was never going to be the same

I think the performance is hated because it looked as though the band didn't want to be there, and Liam sounded pretty shit.

That is the part I'm not understanding. Everyone saying Liam's voice was bad, I just don't get it. He sounded no worse there then he did from 2000 to 2002. He was even holding the notes for the songs instead of what he does now.

I must be the only person who thought Liam looked boss with that coat. Sounded shit though. No doubt about that.

Because i was and it was anything but what you say. It certainly wasn't there best performance i don't doubt it. And Liam's coat was the bollocks, like it or loathe it i love the fact he'd even go out in it.

I still can't listen to Supersonic from this gig all the way through. And yeah, I think mainly it was clear from this gig that Oasis weren't Oasis anymore.

I'll have to listen to it again, but I don't think it was that bad...I think he sounds ok, but the expectations were so high that he'd be back to 96 vox, just as they were at the BRITS in 2007. It was inevitable that he'd disappoint.
The white coat was appaling...and the songs are noticeably slower and that makes it a little hard to enjoy them I think.

The band played in a more boring slow tempo, the drums were suck cos Zak still didn't get it, the guitars weren't loud and Liam voice was strage, he begins the songs ok but then his singing become shit during the songs. Above all the band looked bored on stage, so it was no an excited show.

Just watching some clips of the show, as i havent seen it in a while. Liams voice isnt that bad, it was really bad on SCYHO but aside from that, he sounds great on RnRS. But really Zak's drumming is sllooowwww. Rock n Roll star is missing that fast paced drumming it needs to be effective, Zak really just killed it. Liams coat is awesome

Liam's coat is great! Funnily enough, I randomly chose a gig to listen to the other day and it was this one. SCYHO was crap except for Noel's dedication for the England football team (Must've recently been knocked out of Euro 2004 or something I'm guessing?). The rest was alright, nothing special. Zak's drumming was a bit lacklustre though, but understandably in my opinion, with him still learning the songs etc. etc.

Re: the England team dedication - Oasis played the day after England were knocked out of Euro 2004.
I think the Brits in 2007 was the lowest point (until the split anyway) but Glastonbury wasn't far off. I listened to it again a few months ago and it wasn't actually as bad as I'd remembered, but like somebody said it was the lowest point to date and the label stuck.
Glastonbury was the first time we heard the 'kermit'. People were a bit shocked as he'd sounded excellent on the Heathen Chemistry tour before that. Also Dont Believe The Truth was supposed to be released in 2004 but the original recordings were scrapped and the album delayed. There were rumours that they would split up so after the poor performance at Glastonbury it seemed inevitable.
SYCHO was horrendous but Morning Glory sounded quite good imo.

Liam sounded bad before then. This concert is from March 2003 and it already sounds like Kermit. He actually sounds worse here.

I really don't think it's very good at all. Just look at their performance of Columbia, completely dull and uninspired, Liam is not on form at all. Of all Oasis songs, Columbia should NOT be dull.

This gig was no worse that the LCCC gig. I don't know if anyone went to that, it was one of the worst during the tour and Liams vocals were appalling in it!!
