well well, I think that it was a poor presentation, maybe the recordig don't do the band justice.

I still think Columbia from this gig is one of my absolute favourite versions. The speed is just right. I think they got the perfect speed on Wonderwall too.

It's not that bad as many people say. Only Stop Crying Your Heart Out sounds like Kermit the Frog. (It helps if you listen to it on youtube with speed x1,25)

Just watched it over again and IMO this is a very definite low point vocally for Liam- certainly wouldn't have put money on DBTT and it's subsequent tour being a hit myself. Then again I never think Richard Ashcroft has a bad gig, and alot of people beg to differ so each to their own.

(It helps if you listen to it on youtube with speed x1,25) The whole performance in general is really bad. Bring It On Down was very poorly handled. Zak's drumming was disappointing. Unfortunately, after the Gleneagles gig, Bring It On Down was never truly captured live properly later on.

My opinion hasnt changed in the six years since this thread. It's easy to say 'it's not shit' as Oasis fans who have been subjected to Liam's poor vocals for over ten years now having been used to it for so long, but for the casual fan it must come as a shock for them to hear.
I distinctly remember this gig as the first time I'd heard his vocals compared to his peak years and I was shocked at how bad it was.

We've been completely desensitized to this kind of performance now. This entire show is dreadful, the band sounds shit, Noel looks like he'd rather be picking up some groceries at Tesco, Zak's playing drums for another band playing somewhere else and Liam sounds like he swallowed a dead cow. Listen to Supersonic. Liam is the best thing about that tune, and he sounds pretty bad. Zak gets the tempo completely wrong. I have no idea what the fuck is going on with the guitars-random atonal nonsense.

I can't remember if I responded to this topic. But this thread topic x 1,000.
I don't find Liam's voice bad at all. Flash forward to 2005 where he's had some of his worst vocal performances ever, although the DBTT tour was alright.
DBTT had his worst, and was inconsistent with some good performance. DOYS was average, but consistent.

Like a few people have said, compared with what was to come it isn't as bad as it is often vilified for being but it was the first time it had become apparent his voice was gone and wasn't coming back. Zak's drumming didn't help either
But more importantly it happened live on the BBC! This wasn't some gig in Argentina or Mexico which only us sad bastards have listened to, this was broadcast live on the biggest TV channel in the UK in front of millions of people who probably haven't bothered with Oasis for 7 years.
What a way to make a statement; singing A Bell Will Ring, with shit drumming and even worse vocals

Liam's voice was at it's worst on the DOYS tour.

Liam's voice was at it's worst on the DOYS tour. I disagree with this. The biggest problem on the DOYS tour was that his voice waa turned down in most of the soundmixes. For example the River Plate gig. His voice wasn't that bad on the iTunea Festival.

I thought the band themselves were solid, but Liam's voice was at the height of its "Kermit the Frog" mode 2003-06. It was so bad that Noel gave Liam an ultimatum: get your voice together or get fired from the band.

I don't even think it's bad, 5 out of 10. Liam's vocals were average, Noel looked like he really couldn't be assed and made some mistakes and the drumming was very poor but far from the worst performance.

I don't think the combination ever got worse than Glastonbury 2004 - Liam looked ridiculous (which had never been the case before really, even his 2000 - 2002 style was mostly good), his singing was the worst it had ever been, and the drums really fuck up many of the songs. Distinctly remember hearing BIOD from that gig and utterly hating it.

For example the River Plate gig. His voice wasn't that bad on the iTunea Festival. He definitely improved towards the end of the tour, iTunes, Gurten Festival and Melt Festival are examples of this... but he sounded horrendous for the first 2 thirds of the tour. I can't listen to any of those gigs. Wembley Arena, BBC Proms and more... Terrible, and the worst stretch of gigs for his vocals, ever. Even the infamous Brit Awards 07 and Campo De Polo 06 aren't as bad IMO.

Liam always sang or shouted in tune up until the DOYS tour. He might of sounded bad for years before that but at least he was in tune.
