Single Announcement & Artwork Revealed Arctic Monkeys are pleased to announce the first single from their new album 'Humbug' will be 'Crying Lightning'. 'Crying Lightning' will receive it's worldwide, exclusive first radio play on Monday 6th July on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show. The single will then be available digitally via iTunes from midnight that night. Physical versions of 'Crying Lightning' will be available on the 17th August. More details to follow. And I thought the album artwork was pretty bad...

here's them performing the new single if you haven't already heard it That's fucking dull. Someone ought to introduce this lot to a little thing called the third dimension. It just sounds like a bad offcut from Favourite Worst Nightmare.

I went to the tour this was recorded on and I agree, I was very suprised when they announced it as first single because it didn't go down well at all. The recorded version would want to be amazing for this to do well as a single. I thought it was probably the worst of the new songs they played live.

Haven't listened to the new song yet because I don't like Live version being the first time I hear a song.. Will listen to the album version on Monday and if it's shit it's shit

I don't think FWN is a bad album, at least it's a bit different than their debut, but Crying Lightning is pretty much the kinda songs that we already listened in FWN...when they were recording the album some months ago they said it was going to be heavier, let's see if Josh Homme's influences are on the album and they have changed their sound a bit, if not, it would be dissapointing and, if critics are going to be bad I don't really see another Arctic Monkeys' album coming. Turner will concentrate in The Last Shadow Puppets and/or making a solo career

The lead single? Seriously? It's fucking weak as fuck, sounds like a b-side from the last album...
RIP AM!

Two words to describe this song - Fucking Awful. They might have 'good' lyrics, but a song is nothing if it has no melody, and their melodies are SHIT. It's got to the stage where we couldn't give two hoots about this band. No doubt though that the NME will be wanking all over them again. About as significant as a fart.

I thought they said they're new album was going for a more psychedelic feel? New song does sound a bit week, could of done with a first single with a bit more energy, I'm sure the album wont be tooo bad tho, I really think the arctic monkeys are one of the best bands in years, and like kasabian, i'm sure they're best is yet to come!

Crying lightning sounds amazing, the recorded version especially. The other new songs sound shocking though.
AM may have their best still to come but you're kidding yourself if you think Kasabian do. They peaked first album.

Are you two serious?
Not only do the highs of WRPLA fail to meet the lows of Kasabian but it has at least 4 absolute shit songs compared to a faultless debut. And that's without getting into the middle of the road tracks like fast fuse and thick as thieves. People need to stop believing what they read.

The whole second half of their first album, aside from Cutt Off, is weak. There's like, what, three instrumentals that go absolutely no where? (And why pick something like Orange instead of the marvelously glitchy Sand Clit?) The singles from that album are fantastic. The rest is a bit under cooked. I've never really liked their debut from the get go.

And Thick as Thieves is their The Importance Of Being Idle in my opinion. Brilliant song

It's unfair to pick out the interludes because they're just there to link up the songs, doing in about 30 seconds what swarfiga can't in four minutes. And ovary stripe is absolutely brilliant. Nothing on the new album comes close to a club foot or an I.D. And trails off at the end, have you not heard happiness? Sounds like it was written by a twelve year old who just learned how to play an instrument.

Sounds like it was written by a twelve year old who just learned how to play an instrument. Swarfiga is two minutes and does the album really need three interludes? I believe there's another word for them, it's called filler. And, like I said, the singles are absolutely fantastic (I.D. should of been one). But West Ryder, as an album, definitely beats their front loaded debut. But yeah, Happiness is rather shit. EDIT: Actually fuck it, you're right dude. Just listened to the debut after how long and it is fucking great. So confused now, not sure what to think as I'm liking all three albums all most equally now.
