Whilst this is off-topic, I think West Ryder is far, far better than Kasabian. Their debut always seemed a little half-finished to me, some songs were just filler and West Ryder is a brilliant completed package. Songs like Club Foot and Cutt Off are brilliant, but then that's sort of negated by crap like Test Transmission and Ovary Stripe. Oh and btw, Happiness is probably my favourite, maybe second favourite, on the album. No-one else liking it?!

No seriously, I like that tune as well - I totally dig the gospel choir. Anywsy, back to the topic, I always knew that the Arctic Monkeys would be a flash in the pan.

Yeah, two great albums and then a bad third one. Doesn't sound like any other band...
We've heard one single, not even the studio version. Talk about over reacting.

It's unfair to pick out the interludes because they're just there to link up the songs, doing in about 30 seconds what swarfiga can't in four minutes. And ovary stripe is absolutely brilliant. Nothing on the new album comes close to a club foot or an I.D. And trails off at the end, have you not heard happiness? Sounds like it was written by a twelve year old who just learned how to play an instrument. Swarfiga is two minutes and does the album really need three interludes? I believe there's another word for them, it's called filler. And, like I said, the singles are absolutely fantastic (I.D. should of been one). But West Ryder, as an album, definitely beats their front loaded debut. But yeah, Happiness is rather shit. EDIT: Actually fuck it, you're right dude. Just listened to the debut after how long and it is fucking great. So confused now, not sure what to think as I'm liking all three albums all most equally now. Yeah, they are three fantastic albums. And the studio version of crying lightning is amazing btw. It's on youtube guys. Edit:

^^^^^^ not every song needs a good, chatchy, massive chorus, you know. So you would advocate a song to have a bad, non-catchy, small chorus?

For those that don't want to buy it get a torrent or something, because the quality of that youtube vid is awful

Crying Lightning is a good song.... I just wish they had gone with a more upbeat first single. Something like Brianstorm is what I was hoping for.

Loads better then the live version, it packs a real punch. You can definitely hear Homme's influence, the song is slow, all most brooding. Not the biggest change from FWN material, but it's a nice progression.

^^^^^^ not every song needs a good, chatchy, massive chorus, you know. So you would advocate a song to have a bad, non-catchy, small chorus? there are many many great songs that don't have a chorus, there are many different song structures and just because a song doesn't have a chorus doesn't make it weak or bad. And you shouldn't just focus on how catchy a song is. I remember Noel's words in the BHN era when speaking of the song Be Here Now and It's Gettin' Better Man!! he said he had just written the two most catchy songs ever. Of course they repeated the same line over and over again until it was tattoed into your mind, does taht make them the best Oasis songs? I think we both agree they're not

I can't really say I'm a big fan of this song. It's so... average. It's kind of a-melodic and it's just more of the same boyish tritone guitar shit.

Here is a preview of the song "Cornerstone". It sounds as sloppy as hell. Sloppier than Crying Lightning, even. Look, while I don't believe the media hype, I do think the AMs are a decent (but nothing more) band. Their debut was ok at best, and their follow up was even better....but their sound is hollow and their songs sound the same....in any case Crying Lightning was average at best and this new clip is not that impressive. I'll take DOYS' first 5 tracks and FD over this pish anyday. AM, the new best thing? Fuck off. Take their own advise and "GET OFF THE BANDWAGON"

Crying Lightning is a great song, it's definitely a grower (a bit like Teddy Pickers was for me, but I love that now) it has superb lyrics and a much more mature sound, a bit of LSP + the FWN sound.

This new band certainly hasn't deserved it by having the fastest selling debut album in the UK, headlining Glastonbury their first time performing there, being nominated (and winning one) Mercury awards, winning two Brit awards, and being nominated for a Grammy. None of that is going to happen, so just cut the crap and ditch this band. I've heard The Twang have a new album coming out soon, QUICK EVERYONE LISTEN TO IT IT'S AWESOME AND STUFF WITH BIG CHORUSES.
