I don't think it's a terrible song, but it's definitely not the kind of song that should be a lead single, if even a single at all...

I never liked the Arctic Monkeys, I can't even remember the first two albums. This song is rather mediocre too.

I heard the new album I heard the new album, all I can say about it is that it's wierd, and there is lots of new sounds, very different to the first album.

that clip at the end of them playing crying lightning seriously sounds like something out of this is spinal tap.

Not feeling it with Crying Lightning tbh. I agree with the person who said it wasn't a bad song, but shouldn't really be a single in all truth.
Still, I'm keeping up hope. I consider Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys to be the best two bands Britain has produced this side of the Millenium. The former did brilliantly with Lunatic Asylum, however the later can do so with Humbug.

^^^^^^ not every song needs a good, chatchy, massive chorus, you know. So you would advocate a song to have a bad, non-catchy, small chorus? Yet you think Dig Out Your Soul is great when its full of songs with shit non catchy small choruses. As far as the Arctic monkeys go at least they have one genius thing going for them which is yer mans lyrics thats alot more genius then 99.9% of the shite bands out now. Musically there fairly simple not amazing musicians the drummers quite good though. Good band better than shite like the twang and all them shit american bands like green day.

I just feel like the whole Arctic Monkeys thing has already gotten quite old. Fast guitars, satirical lyrics, that fuckin' voice... you can't really do too much with it all.

Ya but the Oasis style compirises of different elements the rockers, the ballads, the epics, the psychadelia etc. AM just all sound the same. At least Oasis have some variation

Yeah it's alright having good lyrics and riffs but surely it's about time Alex Turner started concentrating on Melodies? I can't see them going on for much longer if this album is a flop.

It wont be, so they don't have to worry about it. All these cries about the Arctic Monkeys giving up and whatnot are stupid and some weird type of wishful thinking.

Based on the only studio track we have it looks like a flop It wont flop because it's the fucking Arctic Monkeys and their past two albums have sold 200k+ copies on the first week. It might not go on to sell as much as their first two, but that's like saying Be Here Now was a flop isn't it? Plus you've only heard one tune as well, so who are you to say it will flop? Cos ten people on an Oasis forum don't like it?

I'm not saying they should, it's just that their style doesn't really go many places and gets really old fast. Oasis on the other hand, can continually write music a certain way and it will still be listenable and sound new.

Just compare The Shock of the Lightning with Crying Lightning. Even though it's a whole year old, TSOTL sounds much more fresh.

And they will only like the hit songs (like casual Oasis fans). A band like the Arctic Monkeys tries so hard to not sell out and make solid music. They are working class musicians with a passion just as strong as Oasis, Kasabian, etc.... I mean Alex Turner has literally written 4 albums in 4 years (Whatever People Say I am That's What I'm Not, Favourite Worst Nightmare, The Age of the Understatement, and Humbug)!!!!! Talk about a prolific writer....

Jesus christ, the AM defenders on here are in denial. Every god damn song sounds identical. And their sound is hollow as shit.
It does no good having great lyrics if your sound is awful.
The AM's is a prime example of your fucking idiotic British press hyping the shit out of mediocre things. That's the one thing America has that's better than the British - a respectable press. Don't Believe the Truth? Noel should have been more blunt and called the album "Don't Believe the Fucking British Press, Those vaginas"
The AM's would be nowhere if it wasn't for the press. Sad that the general public believed what the tossers wrote in The Guardian rather than what their own ears heard.
Oh, and for all you AM defenders: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE point me in the direction of their "Live Forever", of their "Wonderwall", of their "Slide Away", of their "Cigs and Alc", of their "Champagne Supernova", of their "Don't Look Back in Anger"....and most importantly: OF THEIR CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE --> I think it's only fair that you do after they've been compared to Oasis.
The only thing that I wish is comparable between Oasis and the AMs is that the AMs get lambasted for thier 3rd album - these little shit pretenders need to fuck off.

AND THE BACK-FUCKING-STREET BOYS SOLD OVER 100MILLION ALBUMS, ALMOST DOUBLE THAN OASIS, DOES THAT MAKE THAT BOY BAND BETTER THAN OASIS? FUCK NO IT DOES NOT. HELL, EVEN BHN SOLD A SHIT LOAD BUT WOULD MOST OF US CALL IT BETTER THAN DM? NO!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS CHRIST THE ALBUM SALE DEBATE MAKES ME SO FUCKING ANGRY YOU NAIVE FUCKERS......JUST BC AN ALBUM SELLS WELL DOES NOT MAKE IT AUTOMATICALLY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please show me the passion you speak of? they are just another mediocre indie band pretending to be something more because they have the press on their side.
