What was Noel thinking with the studio version of Record Machine. Had years to finish it up, and the final version is by far the worse version that exists. Just out of interest what makes you think this? It's always been my favourite song on NGHFB and I think the production is brilliant (except perhaps the choir which I do dislike on that album and SOTSOG). But I still can't really fault the arrangement. Despite this, I much prefer the rawness of the demo on Faster Than The Speed Of Magic. I just really think everything about the production of the final version of the song makes it weaker. The choir is unnecessary, the instrumentation doesn't fit as well as the demo version does, the vocals are worse, and he for some reason removed the bassline. The DBTT era production style isn't my favorite, but in my opinion it fit this song perfectly. The bland, overproduction of the NGHFB-album era just detracts everything I liked from the song. It also does this (to a lesser extent because the song isn't as good) to Stop the Clocks.

They were supposed to have a televised live performance, and do one of the late night shows for DOYS, but that ended after Noel was attacked on stage in Toronto. He mentions that in his lawsuit against the guy who attacked him, I believe.

Wasn’t really “in” Oasis either I guess! Jeez, I forgot that, Starkey too - they were never 'official' members. Notice the fact no drummer is in any promo shots from 05 onwards. They asked him to be official right before he left, if I'm not mistaken.

Him talking about In The Heat of the moment made me lol. Clearly it's those nananas. I hope one day he revisits it and removes them. It's a banger of a song. There's a fan edit without it that I have, but apparently isn't on youtube any more. It's such a more enjoyable song without them.

I have no idea if this has already been asked so apologies if this is a bit of a pointless thread but anyway - during a scene in Supersonic there's a really nice instrumental version of Talk Tonight that sounds pretty different from the final version, does anyone know if the full thing is publicly available or was it just a rarity they managed to get the chance to use specifically for the film? Pretty sure whoever scored the film made that instrumental piece.

Listening right now to a 2015 Tokyo gig and I have to say, this must be one of the best setlist he's put together in the High Flying Birds. 01.Intro 02.Do the Damage 03.(Stranded On) The Wrong Beach 04.Everybody's on the Run 05.Fade Away 06.In the Heat of the Moment 07.Lock All the Doors 08.Riverman 09.The Death of You and Me 10.You Know We Can't Go Back 11.Champagne Supernova 12.Ballad of the Mighty I 13.Dream On 14.The Dying of the Light 15.The Mexican 16.AKA... Broken Arrow 17.Digsy's Dinner 18.Don't Look Back in Anger 19.Encore: 20.If I Had a Gun... 21.AKA... What a Life! 22.The Masterplan It doesn't get any better than opening up with Holy Mountain followed by Keep On Reaching but Do the Damage and Wrong Beach is the second best thing. 5 Oasis songs but 3 of them are quite unique and different reinditions as well. It does get better than opening with Holy Mountain. By not playing Holy Mountain haha.

You people are crazy. Nice song to listen to, but the plurality opinion being a 10? Ridiculous! It's no absolute classic. To be clear, I'm glad we got this song, and it is much better than what Noel's been doing mostly the last couple years.

Would be cool if Beady Eye released a #1 compilation album like the The Beatles. So it wouldn't have any songs in it?

Between all the Gallagher releases the only video that’s actually any good is TIOBI. I dunno why people are still surprised when a new one comes out and it’s crap. I also don’t understand why people still make music videos. A good music video can really help something get viral and help gain popularity. Shitty music videos don't do anything, tho.

Me: "You didn't. Not at all."

I wonder if Noel actually had any plans to do anymore rethinks for the Be Here Now album apart from D'You Know What I Mean? I meant the Be Here Now reissue. Yes, he was supposed to do the whole album. He started My Big Mouth and got lazy and came up with the excuse "it's of its time"

SCYHO is the only song they released post WTSMG? that's had any scratching on the US/North American scene in terms of cult success in different genres. It's a popular cover tune as well. Believe it hit number two six on the Canadian singles chart. Idle was popular only in the UK, and Shock cracked the Billboard Hot 100 but was really only a hit on rock stations. Lyla got some airplay in the US. I think it was the last Oasis related song to get decent airplay until Noel’s “If I had a Gun.” The Shock of the Lightning was Oasis' most successful single in the US after Don't Go Away.

God yeah, tbh any Oasis song that has only one verse I don't love as much as I should. And I include RNRS and MG in that. I definitely would have RNRS, Listen Up, MG and CNS higher in my all time fav. Oasis songs if not for their repetition. Might not annoy other fans as much. I am SO thankful that Liam started to sing both verses of Acquiesce recently. It improved it immensely. He did?

“The beautiful scarf-waver “We’re On Our Way Now” and the decidedly poppy “Flying On The Ground” are both are as good as anything he’s ever written.“ Decidedly poppy! I like the sound of that But what does “decidedly poppy” mean? Like “Rattling Rose” or “Holy Mountain”? Hopefully not like Holy Mountain. What an unenjoyable listen.

Feels like an end credits song for some romantic drama. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I think every version of Morning Glory played before 2004 is a huge let down, but every version played from that year is better than the original from the album. It would be, but that's when Liam's voice got super worse. We never got a great 2.0 band + great Liam vocal.

So Boris Johnson has seen sense and has cancelled his trip to India as Covid cases are going up every day. And, from Friday the country will be put on the red list. Why not start that straight away instead of waiting a few more days it seems a bit daft to me. This baffles me too. That variant will 100% now be in Britain. Had my vaccine this morning (Pfizer), hopefully I feel OK after it as 2 of my mates have been wiped out after theirs, but they had the Oxford one. I got the first Pfizer shot and had no symptoms.
