Well if they choose even just a half decent candidate, they should beat that dribbling pig of a man.
Oh, and just saw Kid Rock performing at the RNC. That's your standards Trump voters?! 😅
Humiliation and lack of taste knows no bounds.

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
After all these years, still the most perfect song ever written and performed.

In no order. Local Hero Raiders of Lost Ark Planes, Trains & Automobiles Groundhog Day The Ladykillers Close Encounters of the Third Kind There Will Be Blood The Truman Show 2001: A Space Odyssey The Sting How the shit did I forget Raiders!!!! That was my childhood..being scared shitless as Nazis melted in my living room! It might be my favourite film! Because it's the film that made me fall in love with movies, I always remember just how mindblown little me was when the credits rolled. Favourite is always subjective, but definitely the most important film I ever saw. Spielberg's a big kid who never lost that visceral awe inspiring nature of moving pictures on a big screen, and I think Raiders encapsulates that love of cinema more than any film ever made.

Isn't the original varispeeded (varisped?). It was likely recorded a bit slower than the track ended up. It was definitely varispeeded. Quoting davidjay: In an interview he gave to Q magazine in 2010 producer Owen Morris confirmed that he varispeeded his mixes of Definitely Maybe, usually speeding each track up slightly to a place he felt was more exciting. For the album he remixed Slide Away from the multitrack Oasis had recorded at Monnow Valley studio with Dave Batchelor. Owen's final mix of this track was sped up by 2.9%, hence the raised tempo and pitch. The earlier mix of this same multitrack recording (done by Anjali Dutt at Eden Studios) is at the originally recorded speed and pitch. I think Noel could use varispeed to inject some life into his drab recordings of late. If he's gonna continue with meat and potatoes guitar sounds, he should rehire Owen. It's a surprise how many Oasis and Noel songs are immensely improved when its slightly lifted in tempo and pitch. A shame as they make so many good songs sound drab.

I like the more garage grungy feel of this one - but it's missing the higher fade up on Bonehead's guitar and thunderous overdubs which makes the track. The album version just sounds all conquering. This sounds very 'indie pop'. Too clean to what we're used to, but worth it alone for Liams voice that really stands out front and centre.

The attempted assassin must have had some help - this was preplanned. Car packed with explosives. Bomb material at his house. Had to have scoped out the area and building beforehand. Clearly got some help. Time for J13 Congressional hearings. Its unbelievable they didn't have the security and intelligence to prevent it. Like stricter gun laws. 👍

Djokovic being absolutely trounced here. As ruthless a final I've ever seen. Is Alacarz going to dominate from now on? If Djokovic is his best threat, soon to retire in the next few years, then the men's game is gonna be as one sided as ever!

Ready for Djokovic v Alcaraz, the best match up in the game today?
Probably won't see too much more of this match up in the near future, a shame Djokovic isn't 15 years younger, this could have been a rivalry for the ages.

Well, that's it. Trump's the next president, if someone else won't get him first. It was already pretty clear before but the bullet sealed it now for good. What are the consequences of this? Are we in luck the bullet missed? It could've started a goddamn civil war. Not that it's pretty far now either... Hopefully it doesn't cause a chain reaction with more political violence to come. The MAGA hats will react back but it's a question of how? Maybe Europe will now realise we shouldn't follow the US everywhere like a dog their owner. The orange ape will not care about us and the Democrats are too useless of a party to be trusted. It's a good day for China and Russia. Bad day for the people of Ukraine. Summed up perfectly, Trump is too dangerous and the Democrats too useless.

I think America's got a gun problem don't you conservatives? Eh? I wouldn’t be so smug in your trolling. This event may have landed Trump the presidency, which he was already well on his way to winning prior. My post has nothing to do with the election. Must improve your close reading, see me after class!

The irony of supporting the NRA and lax gun laws eh? Supporting literal terrorism with a callous remark like that. Thought you would have grown up a bit when you hit your 30s, but clearly you haven’t. Prayers with Trump. Christ, after the toxic bile you spew over the years and suddenly you've gone holier than thou. Some nutjob makes a career spouting inflammatory bollocks in an unstable country with unstable people then what do you expect? Take a hike pal.

At first, I found Novak's behavior a bit rude, but then I started to think about it... Novak is there to break a new record in the number of Grand Slams again. All three of them are among the greatest athletes of all time, not just tennis players but athletes, and Novak has become better than Nadal and Federer. And then the English media say – the audience was rooting for the underdog, which is normal. And even I, at first glance, believed in that. But then I stop and ask myself, is that normal? Did they root for the underdogs against Nadal and Federer? Do they do that in other sports when the GOAT of that sport is on the field and one of the greatest athletes of all time? The Olympic Games were held in London in 2012, did the English audience go there to boo Bolt and cheer for the underdogs, or did they go to cheer for him and watch the records being broken? What, someone doesn't like Novak as a person? What kind of person is Michael Jordan? An arrogant jerk ten times more than Novak. What kind of person is Bolt? I honestly don't know, and I don't care about that. So, first and foremost, the audience's behavior is shameful, just shameful. Ðoković is the GOAT. I was first to criticize Novak when he said "gooooood night," but then you stop and think. Who wouldn't go crazy? Who can tolerate that for decades? Even neutral audience wouldn't be good enough, people should cheer for him to break new record. But they are not even neutral, they are drunk, arrogant, ill-mannered scum. So, I can't really blame Novak anymore. And it didn't stop there. The BBC continued with arrogant and unprofessional behavior, and I'm glad he told them to fuck off and ended the interview. I watched that match, I also think the audience knew what they were doing. I wasn't bothered by his reaction to be honest, livened it up for me (christ the sport is in desperate need of some characters). I partly think he did it to psyche himself. At his age and with his success, he'd be forgiven for lacking motivation. Taking the bait from the crowd and giving himself an excuse to fight something gives him that extra mental energy. It's not pretty or graceful or sportsmanlike but the greatest sporting winners all seem to have that rough edge to them. As a neutral observer, it definitely makes sports more entertaining.

Jesus, Starmer got less votes than Corbyn did in 2019.The good news about that is that large swathes of the population do vote for a progressive, socialist party. The bad news is that it doesn't matter because our electoral system isn't based in a sane idea of democracy. Comparing vote shares from previous elections is comparing apples and pears. Vote share is based only on dynamics within society and election strategies and can't be compared. That and number of relevant parties in play increased this year. This may not be a radical government, but I think they've got honest intentions to want to improve the country and I am at the very least happy for a Prime Minister who is not corrupt and has a strong ethical track record of public service. The ousting of the most corrupt criminal party of government is a celebration in itself. Honestly, fuck them and I hope they crash and burn further.

We are in massive decline. But it's nothing new. It was better during Trumps presidency just like it was better under Obama's (compared to now when even accounting for the recession). Bush. Clinton. And for every president all the way back to 1968. Productivity has increased while wages have stagnated. It's been a gradual, sneaky devaluing of citizen buying power over the past 56 years. The cost of living steadily rose while wages did not. We are nearing the point where it is unsustainable to be both a regular consumer and a financially secure individual. Once the money stops flowing, we will see change. When people can't afford to bury their anger, exhaustion anxiety, and fears into distractions like Netflix, the money stops flowing and people hit the streets en masse.
What do these presidents share in common? They don't do anything substantial to lift people out of poverty. They instead enable policies that trap people into it, with no hope for escape. Even meaningful full-time labor, often isn't enough for people to escape. These presidents instead focus their policy on lifting corporations through the financial ladder, who also just so happen to be generous campaign donors. What a joke the U.S has become.
There were some pretty great economic years in the 90s after a fairly rough stretch in the 80s, so it hasn’t quite been a steady decline and there’s been a much more precipitous downturn during the Biden presidency than any other time during my life. That being said, I could not possibly agree with the second paragraph of your post more. Superbly stated and 100% spot on! So you agree with his second paragraph despite supporting the most corporatist President of all time?

Absolute flawless performance. Blitzed out on cocaine. One hell of a performance. The Be Here Now tour is full of absolute belter gigs. The sound and energy is incredible. If they ever reunite, they need to watch their old performances and not go back to the dreary performances of Dig Out Your Soul. Surely that can?

I am not the biggest Coldplay fan, like the hits but not really that familiar with the albums/ later stuff. Totally blown away by their performance at Glastonbury (bar the weird Violet Hill bit). The spectacle of it was amazing. Have a listen to Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Viva La Vida and Everyday Life in full (especially the first three)! They're incredible albums and no matter what anyone says about Coldplay those albums will always be incredible to me (oh and Mylo Xyloto, but if the pop stuff isn't your thing focus on those albums ) Even on their worst album, you can find one or two good tracks, maybe like Oasis at their worst. I'd always recommend the first four albums. Mylo Xyloto is a good vibrant pop album but if you like the alt rock of the first three or the art rock of the fourth, don't expect it. It's pure pop from here on. From there on, I'd recommend these selection of tracks (only personal opinion mind!). Unbelievably cynical about them these last four or five years, watching them at Glastonbury (which I had no intention to watch) washed that away and reminded me why I liked them so much. Ghost Stories: Midnight, Magic, O (Fly On), Oceans, Ghost Story, All Your Friends (last two are not on the album but come from the Magic EP). A Head Full of Dreams: Right this is where we're struggling. Their worst album. But Adventure of a Lifetime is fun guitar pop, Birds is indie pop, and Up & Up is decent, not as epic as they'd want but infectious and upbeat, featuring a guitar solo from Noel. The title track is fine until they run out of ideas and think 'fuck it, throw in some whoa whoas' which torpedoes the song. Everyday Life: The full band efforts are the best since Viva La Vida - Church, Orphans, Arabesque is elite tier Coldplay. Champions of the World is lovely, Trouble In Town is good, the bonus track Flags is a classic old fashioned indie pop song. No bad tracks, sketchy in some places sounding like a Chris Martin solo effort in large parts, but a very decent record altogether. Music of the Spheres: Only listened to this one only once, which says everything. So not a very informed opinion. But, I know its not a popular opinion, but My Universe is a catchy song. It's full on pop with added full fat cheese for good measure. But I actually came back to one song after watching Glastonbury and felt the full force of Coloratura. Found its epic symphonic elements and uplifting nature quite emotional, first time that I really took note of the song given how disconnected I was from them at the time of this release. For all the crap they've released in recent years, this is that one fantastic song that gives you clarity and reminds you who they really are. That band is still there somewhere. Given their reputation as dreary and dirge like early on in their career, its remarkable that they now primarily have a reputation for uplifting euphoric pop music. And I suppose their performance vindicated that approach in some ways, it certainly cheered me up.

What is the point of the song “Humankind”? They already had a better version of that and it’s called “Hurts Like Heaven”. It was never gonna be a perfect setlist. Indeed, Humankind would have been one of the few I wouldn't have had (along with that Chainsmokers song and their new single). Given that Arabesque made a surprising appearance, it would have been great to find a place for Orphans. That's a wonderful tune, could have given it the exposure it deserved last night, especially given how outstanding they played last night.

They still have a huge fan base. No matter how much the hardcore TM fans try to write the narrative that they are done and he is overtaking them, Sergeabian, Kasabian 2.0, SLP, whatever people want to call them are still doing really well and many people are enjoying them. Personally I think they are both done. Been done for a long time. For me and many others, the pair of them were done the moment Chris Karloff walked out the band. Both of them write unlistenable stuff these days and both have been irrelevant for years. Serge and Kasabian would have been better finding a co-writing partner after Karloff left (and lets be honest, kicking Meighan out the band ten years earlier). But I don't understand the Tom Meighan fanboys who hate on Serge for kicking him out the band, of which this thread is littered with such bullshit. What was he meant to do? He had no choice. It's still strange they'd hate on him more than a man who battered his partner in front of a kid. The mental gymnastics to make Meighan as a poor victim and pin the blame on somebody innocent like Serge is astonishing and shameful.

Been dipping in and out of this but yes, there's a reason why they're the only band to headline this thing so many times. Still unbeatable in that sense. Reminds me of the real Coldplay, especially with a brilliant curveball with Arabesque and interesting rendition of Violet Hill there too.

This was a disaster. Trump is a lying piece of shit and a fucking joke. Still somehow he made a better impact than Biden. Biden was a ghost, more believable as a retirement home candidate than a president. He talked smart things but his points were buried under his senile presence. Are the Democrats so fucking rotten and dumb they aren't willing to find anyone to replace him? Like matt said, it's an open goal they're purposely missing. If Trump gets elected you can only blame yourself and your own fucking corruption. Fucking disaster. I pity the people in Ukraine right now. e. Where's the fact checking from CNN?? Why are they allowing straight up lying? The greatest country in the world and this kind of shit show going on. Are they afraid to ask hard questions in the fear of losing their position as a trusted media? Why can't you properly challenge their views? They're president candidates for your own country, for fuck's sake. They should be seriously tested under pressure, not let talk whatever the fuck they want. I think they're arrogant. If they lose, there won't be any soul searching in the DNC because they'll refuse to accept responsibility for a mess they had the power to avoid. Anyone of us here would be better Democrat strategists.
