Okay. Convicted felons cannot vote, but can run for president. That means there’s a somewhat likely scenario where Donald Trump is elected president, but he can’t vote for himself. That’s wild.

This varies by state. In NY it looks like felons are eligible to vote once they're out on parole. So presumably would not apply to Trump in this scenario, given the timeline, but applies to lots of other potential voters.
There's been a fair bit of movement on this issue in recent years, and a bunch of states have expanded voting rights in a variety of ways. So for Americans who think they're not eligible to vote or who know someone in that category, it's worth checking and making sure.

I'm here to complain about the "A non-vote is a vote for Trump." crowd. No, a vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. I can prove it by asking whether or not you'd prefer I avoid voting or actively vote Trump. Not voting is always better than a vote for the opposition. If you want me to vote blue, then give me better blue options. I won't vote for a genocide enabler. Period. I have standards. And it's not my fault that the rest of the country seems to have low standards. Nor is it my fault that the candidates we select, don't actually care to earn my vote. Maybe the combination of low voting standards among the public and elected politicians who don't try to earn votes, because they expect or even demand loyalty instead, is exactly how we have created the chaotic, dysfunctional political, economic and global crisis that we are in. And I won't be a party to it anymore. I'm checking out of this garbage system.
I'm going the George Carlin route. Didn't vote. Not responsible for the mess you created.
Consider this my version of a union strike. No concessions, no work. No concessions, no vote. I hope others will join me. Earn our votes!

It has been great before. Is it currently? I would say no. Can it be great? Yeah, a lot has to happen, but it can get there. You can say that about every country honestly.
