Writers write what comes to them. . But there are plenty of examples of him pushing into other areas – I don't think Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love, Gas Panic etc just happened when he strummed a guitar, he was trying to push his writing in that direction. I don’t totally agree with that- I think the 1999 demos demonstrate Noel was writing those songs no different than any other tracks before them- primarily with acoustic guitar as their foundation. The only difference being he had been listening to the beta band and liked the idea of loops and samples to enhance the rhythm tracks. In turn this seemed to help inspire more playful bass parts than on the previous albums. In some ways Noel only really got 3 to 4 songs into this concept (FITB, GLIO, WFL, GP) on SOTOG. WBTM? feels the same- amount 4-5 tracks (the first side) fit the quirky narrative that Noel wants for the album and the rest are quite standard singer-songwriter tracks.

WBTM? feels the same- amount 4-5 tracks (the first side) fit the quirky narrative that Noel wants for the album and the rest are quite standard singer-songwriter tracks. IMO Who Feels Love is a great example of Noel being completely uninspired to sparkle a new tune out of his guitar, thus leading him to stitch up some leftover ideas he had laying around - Chorus of 'Hey Now' + main riff from 'Dear Prudence'/Thunderclap Newman + 'Strawberry Fields Forever' eastern transition riff played backwards (good for him for harvesting that one!), now all he needed was a verse so he just strummed only the G major all over it..... and while we're at it - the 'Hey Now' chorus chord progression is also kinda the basics of 'Gas Panic'. P.s - just to be clear, i love WFL and DYKWIM (which is probably Noels biggest self-recycling) and For sure TIOBI is a Kinks ripoff and im all for it! I'm just trying to claim here that 20 years ago Noel was already out of new ideas, no more classics to ripoff, limit to how many oasis chord progressions he can recycle (Even that 'Don't Stop' Oasis release sounded like Liams 'Won't let you down') So, i wouldn't expect any decent a-side from him in 2025...

If the album will include songs by Andy Bell or Gem Archer, I say we riot.

But what if they present a song better than what Noel's done?

I'm not going to hold my breath for a new Oasis album, I'll wait and see what happens. If we get one then fine but if we don't then I won't lose any sleep over it.

POTQ is one of Noel’s best songs.
TUTS is great.
Mucky Fingers is good live with the drumming outro.
High Horse Lady fits the album nicely and bleeds into Falling Down with a nice transition so as an album track it’s saved as it serves its purpose.

Remember though, the record company is what got Lyla on the album. If Noel had his way it wouldn't have been there, as far as I can remember. Yes, Noel wanted Mucky Fingers as lead single first. Interesting, the album was finished but the record company said that it lacked big singles. So Noel put/wrote Lyla and TIOBI. Amazing Shame they didn't say the same about Dig Out Your Soul.

Amazing Shame they didn't say the same about Dig Out Your Soul. Mucky Fingers single? I thank God for not letting that happen. For me it's one of the worst Oasis songs. It sounds like it was written by a high school band. It's terrible!

Four Letter Word would have made a great Oasis album opener imo. Even so I just want Noel to write any future album.

The way I see it, if this is not just about money then they will make a new album. We all know the money is in touring these days. They could tour off the back catalogue until the end of time. Personally, I would love to hear a new album, predominantly written by Noel for Liam to sing.

Yeah it's the usual, people writing their opinions as if they're facts. It's not a fact that High Horse lady is one of Noel's worst tunes. I listen to it and think it's great, not a skip for me. POTQ is brilliant. Noel's still be writing classics, there's two on Council Skies. But I said ages ago if they put out an album you're gonna have the usual suspects bitching about how it doesn't hold up to DM and how Noel lost it years ago - untrue to my ears. If they release an album I'm gonna avoid all social media until I've listened to it myself because it'll just be doom and gloom otherwise.
