Finally listened to the song for the first time. With the identically guitar riff and solo by Squire (Waterfall and Driving South), the song sounds exactly what you would expect.

The song kinda crept into my ear and does not leave, not a bad thing. As an unwanted side effect, I also started singing (Probably) All in the Mind at home Nothing groundbreaking, the rainbow colours are still cringe in the lyrics, but I like the sound. Something like 6 or 7/10 for me.

In the official midweek charts its slipped to #4. Id say it will be Liam’s highest charting single to date, and a narrow top 10 placing (maybe like #10) isn’t impossible, but from #4 it will only drop. Needs to be top 5 to be his highest placed single. Carnation charted at number 6 in 1999 Oh yeah i forgot that one. I guess his highest charting post-Oasis single then, and possibly by any former member as I think that would mean #14 or above.

My guess is the video gets dropped tomorrow to keep buzz going for the charts I wonder when they will announce the album? If it is coming out in April like the rumors suggest, it’s about the point of announcement with the vinyl production delays and wanting to bank 3-4 months of pre-sales to help secure a #1. You’d also think with the album announcement would come another new song to help the process.

Yesterday i've listened to Just another rainbow, and tbh it gave me the feeling that the 99-2000's era is slowly coming back, despite the fact that the Liam's voice is bit raspy

It's grown on me a fair bit but still am not too keen on the melody. Instrumentally it's the best thing he's put out and it feels more "real" than a lot of Liam's solo work.

I like it. Nice tune but nothing we haven't heard before. I won't go as far as to say it is a Liam by numbers song but it is close. The riff feels a bit recycled but it is still great to hear. Hated the colours bit first time I heard it but I feel like it has grown on me. If the song was a bit more silly then it would feel more natural in there, though.
It feels like a little bridge Mccartney would put in a song about a rainbow but it just doesn't fit. However it is the part of the song that has stuck with me.

It's a good song but not great. The lyrics are a bit of a letdown but the guitars and overall production and mixing sound very good. Also, Liam's vocals sound very good and strong. I'm getting a bit excited about the album.

Sadly I think the song is pretty bad. Very derivative of early 90’s Roses and mid 60’s Beatles with cringey lyrics and basic melody.
I like Liam’s voice and Squires guitar is always good to hear but honestly if that came out from a new band I wouldn’t give it a second listen and I’d lament them for releasing something so uninteresting.
By far my least favourite Gallagher related release. I’m not the biggest Stone Roses fan so it’s understandable but still disappointing

A week down the line...Yes it's not bad..but initial love for it has died down somewhat. It seems to lack a bit of ompfh or bite bar Liams initial first line on further listens.

Didn't like it on the 1st listen and tbh it's not grown on me on repeated listens.
It's just not good.

It's what you'd expect from new material written by John Squire isn't it? Which is to say, not very good. Wells ,it's not bad per se, it's just so dull, which is perhaps even more damning. I do admire the optimism of those who, against the overwhelming weight of evidence to the contrary, thought John Squire was suddenly going to write an album's worth of good material.
It's 2024 and we're getting inferior rehashes of songs from 35 years ago, that's quite something. Guess Gallagher + Squire was never going to be forward looking.

I'm surprised by the bad press John Squire is getting here, as if he can't write a good tune... The guy has written absolute classics.
