Getting a reaction thread ready for the Jan 5th release! I think this one could be good! Sounds like it could be heavy from the preview. Surprised there is so little buzz on here.

Surprised it's so quiet.

Getting a reaction thread ready for the Jan 5th release! I think this one could be good! Sounds like it could be heavy from the preview. Surprised there is so little buzz on here. 10 pages of discussion in the "Liam Gallagher - Tour & Album News" section Yeah, basically that thread is being used for what usually the "hype thread" in this section would be. Maybe someone could make a "Liam Gallagher and John Squire album hype thread" for the facts and fiction section to keep the tradition going or we just leave it at that with the other thread. As for the song: Really can't wait to hear it and hope we'll get a longer teaser with Liam singing before the release in January. Here's what a reviewer said about the song: So, when Liam’s vocal snarls for the first minute with Squire loitering in the background, the tension building is agonising upon first listen. What is the guitarist of a generation bringing? That pensive stasis soon melts with the rip-roaring Townsend-esque bluesy majesty that follows. The two giants of the rock ‘n’ roll scene, neither with anything to prove, come armed with more attitude than an Eastenders Christmas special. Liam’s opening delivery prowls like a caged tiger waiting to maul its owners to death. A fete that comes with obligingly when Squire’s background licks explode to the fore with the guttural power of Hendrix via The Who and Peter Green alongside thunderous drums.Although the track is about disappointment and not getting what you want, their desire to forge this project and be this expansive evokes a beauty unique to rock ‘n’ roll. The urge to reach heavenwards, to kiss galaxies with their psychedelic power, remains as accurate now as it did in ’89 and ’94. The sense that they have been good for each other in the studio is palpable. Squires playing, sprawling and vast as ever, is given an urgency, a Peter Green and Pete Townsend punchiness that Gallagher has yearned for since ‘Morning Glory’. With a guitarist to match his ability on the mic, once again he can prove he is more than just a snarl. He shows more ethereal and angelic touches to counter the raw power of Squire’s playing, elevating the record to another level. ‘Just Another Rainbow’ is released on the 5th of January. Another review said it has a bit of a "Waterfall" from the stone roses in it so I think it is more of a baggy drums tune.
Thats my guess! Super excited

It’s like John Lennon doing Roxy Music on paint fumes.

Had high hopes but does nothing for me. Best part was the guitar solo.

It's alright. I'd rate it a solid album track. If this is the best they've got for a single I'm not quite sold yet though. Singing the colours of the rainbow as a middle 8 gave me nasty flashbacks to the Beady Eye days. The vocals and the instrumentation are good, as expected.
5/10

It sounds exactly what you could expect from a Liam + Squire collaboration! I don't mind it, it's groovy and kind of engaging even if the melody isn't that strong. The colours bit is cringe-worthy though.

I think it's a representation of what it is - two people who are great at what they do but are not particularly consistent songwriters.
The vocal is great, the guitar work is great, but otherwise it's pretty blah.

Very nice. More rock and less commercial than what we are used to listening to. This might annoy pop purists, but they managed to balance the balance between the two genres well. Very curious to hear the rest of the album.

Its another Little James for me. Why put the line about the rainbow colours in and wreck the song? Daft Although as someone else pointed out, it does seem tongue in cheek / a piss take because the very next lyric
I do like it though, Liams vocals are class

Liam's vocals are 2002-like (Heathen Chemistry and Scorpio Rising with Death in Vegas), the guitars are... well Squire-like. But that doesn't make up for the fact that the song is boring. In the same vein, Liam had a better tune with Better Days. But this is underwhelming at best.

Song is ok. 6/10 or 6.5/10.
But if you like that style, vocals, guitar... you can hear it as 9/10.
And if you are sick of that style and you are searching for something original and new, it can be like 4/10 for you.
So, really there is no point in debating. Everyone has their opinion and taste.
It is stupid to call it shit and it is stupid to call it masterpiece. You are just not being objective then.
Personally, I don't like it and I don't feel it. It just doesn't do anything for me and I was never fan of that style. I am not writing on this forum because songs in that style that was composed by Gallaghers, I became fan because some other style of music that they were creating.
I am not saying that SOTSOG for example is bad album, but I would not be here writing this if that was Oasis and if 90s Oasis never existed.
No one expects from Liam to revolutionize music in 2024 but One Of Us was good example of what he should and can do. That song for example wasn't this old boring plagiarsm of Beatles and Stone Roses. That song also plagiarized those bands but at least in some other way.
5.5/10.

I agree with this take, and I'm the one who hears it as a... well, not 9/10, maybe 7/10 but I happen to really like of this style and vocals. So it's a positive from me, but I can totally see why you see it in a more negative way. Also, yes to doing songs like One of Us. I think it's like: a.) COOL, trippy Liam+Squire collab with their trademarks! or b.) Meh, they ripped Rain off again.

Yeah, for me Just Another Rainbow sounds like all Oasis haters in 90s were saying that Oasis sounds like.
We saw much more in those songs but lazy, boring persons saw them as just old fashioned, boring Beatles copycats.
Just Another Rainbow sounds like every parody of Oasis, but when they were making parodies in the 90s, joke was on them, because everyone who was making parody was just proving the point that they can't capture magic of Oasis.
But now they can. Basically this song could be parody of Oasis.
