After a few more cheeky listens, this is a real grower..Stone Roses by Liam firmly in my mind. But this isn't a bad thing.

As a few others have said, it does sound like a pastiche done by a 90s-obsessed pub band. I’m sure Liam and Squire are having a lot of fun so fair enough, but just sounds cliched and uninteresting to me.
Maybe on Liam’s part it’s a reaction to the ‘out there’ songs on his last album not connecting with people but that was more because they just weren’t particularly good songs.
This just sounds stodgy and a showcase for Squire’s guitar licks than a proper song but hey, I’m sure some diehards will love it - and hopefully there will be a couple of better songs on the album.

Drums should've kicked in at around 30", this way sounds too generic and lazy... John's solo should be longer, and no colors list please... And btw, I hardly hear drums throughout the whole song - don't like the production, too muddy...
But, all in all, not a bad tune, guess I'll be listening to it in my car a lot, it's got that driving vibe. Hence the solo length comment.
When is album due?

I really like, that the drums kick in that late. Gives Liam a moment to shine and stand alone.

I didn't expect that many would be struck by the beauty of Liam's voice. I've read dozens of comments on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and Liam's voice is getting a lot of compliments. I thought the guitar solo was the main protagonist but there is a perfect balance of appreciation between the two things.

As much as I’m pleased that Liam and John have collaborated and that we’re going to hear more from them, I think unfortunately this particular song is pretty mediocre.
Instrumentally I think it holds up relatively well. It’s great having someone with decent guitar chops onboard and Squire is an obvious fit. The main riff has a very late 80s/early 90s, British, psychedelic-indie sound to it, which is so identifiably Squire you’d be a fool to not to immediately notice it’s him. Other moments sound like the more recent psychedelic-rock revival of the 10’s. Of course this is all heavily indebted to the mid to late 60’s but that’s nothing new to Liam is it? The guitar solo/instrumental passage easily stands as the strongest moment of the song and quite correctly it’s allocated a significant portion of the songs run time.
It’s sad to say but for me, as has been the case for some time now, Liam’s studio vocals are pretty off-putting. Naturally age has effected his vocals and he’s had to adjust the way he sings to protect it, which is completely forgivable, but what doesn’t help him however is Kurstin’s uber-slick pop production. It’s a really poor match.
Lyrically it’s pretty weak. Sure, I find the whole rainbow thing pretty cringe but when Liam actually started listing out the fucking colours of the rainbow - That’s embarrassing, haha.
Overall I’d probably give it a 5/10 but there’s enough there from Squire for me to be hopeful about the rest of the album.

Not sure how its 'twatty', it's very well balanced. Can anyone critique something without it being piled on by hardcore fanatics? It's complimentary and critical in equal measure.

Contrary to what some think, Liam's vocals are one of the few redeeming factors for me.
While it lacks the purity of his youthful vocals (circa 94-97), the raspier voice adds bit of grit to the modern day polish of studio recordings. It's not punk but that abrasiveness always leaps out of the radio amongst the all too clean music of today.

This is probably my least favourite Liam lead single 1 Wall Of Glass 2 Everything's Electric 3 Shockwave 4 Just Another Rainbow. Everything's Electric for me. A belter of a lead single. I utterly hate Wall of glass..never got the appeal. Not a popular opinion. EE does kick ass. JAR is a by the numbers baggy feel good throw back that brings a smile and a big roses node. It's the one that non Liam fans will probably feel more of a connection with.

Just Another Rainbow will probably sound better as an album track than a stand alone single. I felt like that with Better Days as well.

This is probably my least favourite Liam lead single 1 Wall Of Glass 2 Everything's Electric 3 Shockwave 4 Just Another Rainbow. Wall Of Glass is tiers above the other three quite easily. One of the best post-BHN Gallagher brothers' songs.

The barometer for me is 'would I like this if another non-Gallagher musician released it?' and unfortunately for me it's a no.
Also feel like that about COYK and Council Skies though (the album - quite like the song) so maybe it says more about me than anything else. Each to their own.
Also, I too really don't like Wall of Glass but do like Shockwave:
1. Shockwave 2. Everything's Electric 3. Wall of Glass 4. Just Another Rainbow
Are we including Beady Eye? Depending on what we class as the lead singles I liked The Roller and loved Flick of the Finger but Bring the Light and Second Bite of the Apple were awful

So, it basically feels like (Probably) All in the Mind but with John Squire doing his bit rather than Johnny Marr.
Which might sound terrible as most here dislike that song but I don’t mind it. I don’t think it’s great but I don’t dislike it either. And I feel similarly about this new one. It’s got the trademark (almost to an exaggerated degree) Liam vocal snarl, the trademark Squire “Waterfall” guitar (again very evidently so) and of course, this latest attempt to capture the ‘66 garage psychedelia of “Rain”. I don’t see why that obsession exists - it us a great song but there’s so many others to tap into that haven’t been done to death.
The rainbow lines definitely are the weak point. I was hoping for more of a fusion of Liam and Squire’s skills but this feels like more of a direct cut and paste job of their most stereotyped features. Which isn’t a terrible thing (it is Liam and Squire after all) but it did leave me wanting to feel more satisfied. Not terrible at all but definitely not great either. Though it does have its great and terrible moments. You can figure out which is which I’m sure.
