To those who have given 10 or high marks in general I recommend listening to two Italian songwriters who do the same genre of this song. "Cesare Cremonini" and "Biagio Antonacci".

Not bad, not that good...
I don't understand why he took this one instead FOTG.

It actually grew on me a little bit, it's a nice song, easy to listen. Still a 5, for Noel's standards. 5,5.

Never understood those type of comments. Why do you want a 56 year old making the same kind of music he did when he was in his mid to late 20s? Not only that, but Council Skies in particular literally doesn't resemble a single song he released in the 90s Yes, that was my point. It doesn't sound like anything 90s Noel would have created.

Changed it to 8. As suspected, it grew on me and I've had it in my head for the past few days. Now my only issues with the song are mainly with the video with Noel's visible discomfort especially during the chorus but most of all... What the fucking fuck...?

I like the intro and the build up but then my mind wanders and then I realize the song is over and I can't remember any of it. I listen to it again trying to focus and same result. Every time. Not bad, I like the vibe of it, but just forgettable.

Why, oh why, does he have to shout the entire vocal melody on this one...it could have been a nice, wistful little tune about the past and growing up, but instead it's WAITING ON A TRAAAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNNN THAT NEVER COOOOOOMMMMEEESSS!!
Ugh.

Ok, it's growing on me. Still it feels more like an album track, not a single.

Quite like it, it's catchy and upbeat. By no means a classic though

This is the song of this cycle that I find myself listening on repeat. 'Dead to the world' is probably a better song and hits you deeper when you listen to it in the right (or maybe in the wrong) mood, but maybe precisely because of that, I don't want to listen to it so often. But this one is like Flying on the Ground', A Dream... or She Taught me how to fly: uplifting every time

The more I listen to it, the more it fits into album filler territory except it's been done much better before with tunes like Stranded On The Wrong Beach, Jesus Freaks, You Know We Can't Go back, Broken Arrow etc. Very underwhelming for a single, but hopefully it flows well on the album.

I've upgraded to 8, I'm surprised how much it has grown on me. I don't care about all this so called self-plagiarism.

I don't get why it even bothers people that much. I mean, in BOTMI, she's passing him by, and now he's walking alone with her catching the butterfly, lol. Like, Ballad of The Mighty I is like that saying, "the story of my life" when everything goes wrong, and then Council Skies is that dream of how things could go.

I think the Instrumental will be my jam. The music and lyrics are so soothing and wistful, but...I just can't get over his shout-y vocal delivery.
To be fair, It has grown on me a lot though, and I'll find myself singing it around the house.
