Sounds like Pretty Boy, Part 2. Which is not a good thing

I'll never be able to unhear the BOTMI bit, and it'll always bother me. I really like the beginning and the first verse, but after that it's...okay...love the ending too, with the first verse again (an oft repeated thing for this record, right? DTTW and PB do it too. (with new lyrics, but ending on a verse)
The Rattling Rose comparison is spot on too and a bit of Pretty Boy is apparent too. These songs from the record are eclectic as Noel said, but they all feel like they're missing 'something' to me too. Still not sure what it is, though.
To be honest when We're Gonna Get There in the End comes on after this on my playlist it sounds wayyy more fresh even though its older and in demo form.

5 for me. Easily forgettable. Weakest of the songs so far imo. Heβs peaked at DTTW

voted 4 and that was being generous. Rubbish. Noels melodies are so boring nowadays and the production of his songs has never really been anything special

I like it. Solid 7 that might grow to a 8.
Someone has mentioned that it sounds like Doves... and yes it does, quite a lot! Hints of Paul Weller too.
The vocals seem a bit weak to me though. And something about the mix isn't right. It's not Youtube/Spotify related: I've just bought the hi-res FLAC from Qobuz and it still sounds flat.

I like it all right. Definitely more sonically fun/interesting than DttW or Easy Now, and I like the vibe a lot. Lyrics are not great, and the "magical" line is just abjectly terrible. However, I spent the week after Pretty Boy came out complaining about the lyrics in that, and it ended up being one of my favorite songs of the year. I have a feeling once I stop hearing the lyrics on this one, it'll grow on me.
7/10.

Well well Well I have expected more after the other known Songs from the Album. The weakest so far. It's basically The Ballade of the mighty I revisited. Where are the Strings he posted? 4.5 or in Liam's words: Shite!

Sounds like Pretty Boy meets Rattling Rose meets Ballad of the Mighty I...it's like a collage of songs or something. Kinda sounds sloppy to my ears. Meh. 6/10 maybe?

Is it just me or do the strings do absolutely nothing on this? They don't harmonize, they don't offer any kind of contrast to any other part of the song, they're just the melody but whinier. And I normally like strings!

I rate 5/10. AM radio friendly. Nothing to dislike but nothing to get excited about.
Just listened to all the songs released so far as haven't listened to them in a while. They all sound the same. Even Dead to the World sounds like an interlude between all the other songs. Where's Supersonic for 2023? Not like I expect him to be acting like his 27 again, but just because he's past 50 doesn't mean he has to start churning out slippers and pipe music. Is it unreasonable of me to want him to create songs that are punchy, gutsy and have some substance to them? Don't even care about the lyrics, just want a proper guitar riff. Who Built The Moon is an immense track...want more of that.

Sometimes I need a song to remind me that I'm not going to like a Noel song just because it's a Noel song. This is that song

Council SkiesNoel further expands his collection of recent baroque pop with a more upbeat number which most closely resembles 'Rattling Rose'. The peppy percussion and summery guitar work firmly buoy the song, leaving the string swells sounding relatively inconsequential. It doesn't contain the effortless melodies of earlier in his solo career and time with Oasis but it certainly still has plenty of charm. As noted by others already it does lift parts of the verses to 'Pretty Boy' and choruses of 'Ballad of the Mighty I' which can indeed be a bit distracting. Like a few of the singles released already it doesn't have obvious single power but it should make for a fairly decent album track and add another facet to the album. Ranking the Songs: 1) Trying to Find a World That's Been and Gone: Part 1 [Demo]
2) Pretty Boy 3) Dead To The World 4) Council Skies 5) Easy Now 6) We're Gonna Get There In The End [Demo]Previous Council Skies reviews: live4ever.proboards.com/post/1719048

Just watched the video and I like it even less now! What's wrong about the video? Looks pretty inoffensive to me. It's not cringe as fuck like some past ones.

It just felt very shallow while trying to look deep and having a lot of potential, which made the shallowness of the song more evident and it made me angry lmao - I almost prefer the more cringe ones

I like it up until the chorus. It's very compressed.

Liked it a lot. Definitely better than Pretty Boy, which is probably the weakest song of the bunch that's been released.
