That's a real shame as I would have loved a cd full of unreleased Oasis songs. Hopefully one day they will able to come to some kind of agreement and release it.

I think it will happen in the future, it's all gotta be released at one point.
The scrapped best of focused on the post 2000 era. Would have been great to give this (almost) decade of Oasis some attention.

The bits on the new album made me really excited, I know the writer *had* to be positive about it, but the way he seems to be mixing it up with influences and inspirations is definitely promising

Thanks for posting! Phew, this interview is surely gold for recording session anarchists like The Crimson Rambler! And I've only like read the first page..

THE MOST HEARTBREAKING BIT (probably ever to be posted on here):
...we did this best-of and the bonus-disc was gonna be all these unreleased songs. But - ha! - unfortunately we couldn't agree on something and it got dropped by the wayside...
I'm just experiencing ventricular fibrillation for the first time.
EDIT: Now I've read the full thing, it's actually proper revealing and honest to the core. You wouldn't get that with the Rolling Stone. All hail to the Record Collector!

Great interview.
The three most beautiful words in the english language are not 'I love you' but 'unreleased Oasis song'

It's very Noel, though, isn't it ... to just suddenly, casually drop the one thing that will get Oasis fans breaking into cold sweat in a relatively obscure interview, mention that an entire disc of unreleased songs was just about to come out, would even possibly have come out this very Record Store Day ... but... nah, what a shame ...

Wow. Really great interview. Pretty excited for Flying On The Ground and Noel's next album.
And man, we could only imagine what was in those demos he did find. The punk version for Eleanor Rigby got me really curious. Hope they get to see the light of day eventually.
The only part that made a bit uncomfortable was the way he dismissed the 2000's. I mean, come on Noel you did gigantic tours and unforgettable gigs. Also, there is a ton of great tunes from that period (funny how he mentioned two written by Liam out of three)

Great fucking interview. I recently brought up that I remember a Q magazine article around 2002 where Noel mentioned covering “It’s All Too Much”. Glad I didn’t imagine that. Shame it never came out. More Liam vocals excuses (ha!).
Hearing about the shelved Oasis 2000s best of with bonus CD of unreleased material was a gut punch! Most of us correctly predicted that “Don’t Stop….” was not the last of its kind. I love that my idea of Noel dumping his unreleased Oasis songs on a future RSD is something that could happen down the road!
Sounds like he’s way way into his 4th album. Maybe spring 2022?

I like the idea of Noel putting out these unreleased songs as b-sides. I never understood how such a productive songwriter couldn't have two b-sides for a single or evern worse, only remixes anyway.

Two other thoughts:
Do we know anything about how the Falling Down remixes were made with the AA? He's talked a lot about his collab with them regarding the unreleased album but not that. I'd be interested in how experimental the Psychedelic Bubble is compared to the scrapped stuff.
Also, does everyone keep forgetting about DOYS? I thought that was a step into a rather different direction. Sure, it had classic rocker tracks like Ain't Got Nothing but Falling Down and To Be Where There's Life, for example, are not traditional stadium rock band songs for sure. And the album's got no attempt at an anthem as well, which was quite unusual for an Oasis album. You listen to DM and DOYS one after another - it's like they were made by two different bands. Also, they got away with the Falling Down remixes released as a single as well. Sure, that wasn't an LP but I feel like there could've been room for even braver experimentation later down the road.

Setting Sun is the third but if you count Wonderwall you would also have to count: Some Might Say (Talk Tonight), D’You Know What I Mean? (Angel Child), All Around The World (The Fame and Flashbax), Go Let it Out (Cigarettes in Hell), Hindu Times (Just Getting Older, Idler’s Dream).
