A song that I like that I see has more negative feedback rather than positive. Not bad in my book, i like the sound, the vibe, the feels it gives you. So what seems to be the problem with it?

Shit lyrics, very cliched sound Which is something I can take when there's a good tune behind it, but this is not the case, it's just style over substance It's what a random indie band from the 2010s would release, I expect a bit more from Noel Gallagher

I Can See A Liar is one of Noel's worst ever songs, everything about it is bad. And, the chorus I Can See A Liar, Sitting By The Fire are just so lazy. Honestly, Noel can do so much better than that.

It’s worse than PYMWYMI which is an actual achievement

I happen to like a lot of the tunes that are despised by most of the people on this forum. I completely disagree with the post saying the sound is cliché; ICSAL has a wicked tone/vibe, as does most of that album, including PYMWYMI. I also think The Nature of Reality is monstrous. SOTSOG and DOYS don’t have the typical “Oasis sound” and I really dig both albums sonically.

It just doesn't belong to SOTSOG, it's a hard rock ac/dc type thing on a eletronica tinged album, also the production on it isn't as tight as the other songs, sounds like it was recorded at the last minute cos they needed a heavier song on the album. Would have been a good b-side.

The chorus. I genuinely think if you just change it to I've found my desire, burning like a fire (okay I'm not a songwriter dont pelt me) then you'd easily save the song.
I think the verses are cool and Liam's delivery is great.
I suppose it does just sum up Noels songwriting at the time though. Lazy and in desperate need of the passion again.

nothing. the lyrics are a little trite but it's a good melody, good vocals, good instrumentals, i like it.

Good effort with the words there, personally I'd tweak slightly to 'Awakened my desire, burning like a fire'. But they probably don't fit with the context of the song. Could do with completely new words for the whole track 😂

As with Little James people jump on the bandwagon and say the whole song is shit coz of the lyrics, it's not. There are a ton of other songs Noels wrote shitter than ICSAL. You've Got The Heart Of A Star, PYMWYMI, Full On, that's just to name a few

I think the song is notably underrated. I like the contemporary guitar sound Noel used. Liam's vocals are a little weird in a good way. The most glaringly obvious problem with the song are them two chorus lines which come as a real slap in the face. For shame Noel. I think it probably edges 'PYMWYMI' (which feels half-baked) but it blatantly not as good as 'Full On'. The song is amongst Noel's worst album tracks but he's written loads of worse b-sides - 6/10
Here's how I'd rank it:
1. Go Let it Out 2. Gas Panic! 3. Fuckin' In the Bushes 4. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 5. Roll It Over 6. Who Feels Love? 7. Sunday Morning Call 8. I Can See a Liar 9. PYMWYMI 10. Little James

Never minded it too much, the verses aren't bad or the melody. About above average.
I've never thought it was outright shit.
But if I had heard that at the time in 2000 after all the 90s stuff then I probably would've thought wow what a big drop in quality.

I don't mind (You've Got) The Heart Of A Star and Full On at least they're listenable tunes. But I Can See A Liar and indeed Put Yer Money Where Your Mouth Is must be two of the worst songs which Noel has ever written.

nothing. if liam would releasse it nowaydays, all the fanbois would go crazy. and rightly so, because it's better than anything liam has released to far.

Absolutely love it. Shame Oasis didn't write a few heavier tracks.

I'm not huge on this song, but is...
"I can see a liar Sitting by the fire"
...really a million miles away from...
"Stand up beside the fireplace Take that look from off your face"
...?

Absolutely The expression "I can see a liar" is just cringey itself, the fact that "sitting by the fire" was clearly written just because it rhymed makes it worse The line in DLBIA creates a very clear mental image while still leaving space for intepretation, in a song with plenty of lines that manage to do so And that is without mentioning the musical contexts those verses are part of
