Half of Beady Eye is in High Flying Birds. Made me laugh how Noel called Liams band full of second rate indie players. Liam never once pushed the narrative that no one joined Noel after Oasis. Okay, Noel left but there was nothing to stop Andy, Gem and Chris going too. Gem would never admit it but i bet he loved writing songs and being at the forefront of a band making music rather than the souless session musician he's become now.If you want a lack of soul, listen to his songs!

Its reassuring that you think at least one person likes the idea of Gem writing songs You mean you didn't enjoy such classics as "A Bell will Ring" and "The Quiet Ones"?? I remember there was a December 22nd evening maybe 10 years ago where I felt spectacularly lonely (for no reasons, I was with my family and it was 2 days before Christmas). I sat before the old computer of my dad which barely was able to run videos on youtube. I remember listening to all those obscure B sides that have some level of melancholy in them (The Quiet Ones, Sitting here in silence (on my own), Shout it out loud).
Not gonna lie. That night was a blast. Therefore The Quiet Ones is easily my favorite Gem written song.

lord please no, what a terrible band. liam knows he's better off, he may not have enough pride to stop begging for an oasis reunion but i do think he has enough pride not to reform beady eye lol

I dont think hes an amazing songwriter by any means but he'd have enjoyed his role in Beady Eye far more than what he's doing now. I think The Roller and Off at the Next exit stand up against the best Liam Solo songs, and some of Noels for that matter.

Is there much of a difference? Gem is still a side man to a Gallagher. He's been doing it for over 20 years.

gem is cool. gem was always cool
he wrote what could have been a single in Oasis part of writing FOTF (1st track on DOYS would fit, I remember wtf'ing with the big guitar riff of Bag It Up) and TBWTL saves the 2nd side
always had a soft spot for A Bell Will Ring. that second verse always gets me

I don't think that Gem is as bad at song writing as some people make out. He's written some good songs in Oasis and Beady Eye. Eye Ball Tickler To Be Where There's Life Hung In A Bad Place The Roller Off At The Next Exit Back After The Break Ballroom Figered are all good songs.

gem is cool. gem was always cool I also always liked Gem - cool guy. The "Stop The Clocks" Acoustic tour he did with Noel back in 2006 was magical. I always wondered if he would be the guitar player in an Oasis reunion or Bonehead. I would like to see both - each one playing songs from their time period with the band but that will not happen.

Problem is anyone else writing songs in Oasis/Beady Eye was a vastly superior songwriter Liam's limited and Andy wasn't doing what suits him best, but both their peaks are much higher than Gem's, whose most memorable work is a catchy Lennon ripoff, and they've written many more good songs in comparison And this is without even mentioning Noel He's just not good enough to be the driving force or one of the driving forces of a band, not even his original guitar work is remarkable He might've enjoyed it more, who wouldn't, but what he's doing now is what he's really good at

Just to say, I think Gem is awesome. Solid player, reckon he'd be great to have a pint with. I think it's a shame he's not in Liam's band but maybe thats another thread. I don't follow Noel solo so Gem might be a really important part of what he's doing now, I've no idea. I'd hope Noel, Gem and Bonehead would play together, however I don't know if that might be a bit too Iron Maiden for Oasis . Maybe give Bonehead the freedom he has with Liam's band. This is if it ever happens of course.

You got Gem who makes every guitar solo look easy, Bonehead for the rhythm section - the Oasis "wall of sound" and Noel who has the freedom to play what he wants. Not going to happen but one can dream...

No need for Beady Eye to return but Liam could use his current popularity plus time on his hands to push their music a bit more. Take his current band/voice and re-record a best of album. Get a good producer in. A few tunes would benefit from a bit of reworking in the studio but they had some decent songs. My track list for a download/limited vinyl release. BDI 2021 Flick of the Finger Four Letter Word Soul Love In the bubble with a bullet Wigwam Off At Next Exit The Roller Shine A Light Start Anew The Beat Goes on Millionaire The Morning Son AND The World's Not Set in Stone!

Ok Ok now I know i'm talking bollocks, but yes you're right, one can dream!

In The Bubble With A Bullet is another good song which Gem wrote. I haven't listened to it for a while though.

Would have sounded great live (Eyeball Tickler). IMO the best DBTT era b-side and better than The Meaning of Soul/Ain't Got Nothin' as far as those songs go.
To be fair, some of us hold our opinions based on how it sounded at the time.

Exactly, that's my point in my first post in this thread yesterday. Not only that Andy Bell of course is in Ride now and also doing his solo stuff now.Β Everyone is more successful outside Beady Eye then when in it. Hard facts. How is Gem being a touring guitarist and Andy being in a band that don't even sell the amount of albums DGSS did more successful? And Chris being a touring drummer? Liam obviously is but he's more successful than Noel now so that's some high bar.

True. But I think that at least all of the Oasis final line up Gem,Andy and Chris are doing something instead of being out of work. So it's better than nothing at all.

Glad to see them all doing well, especially Gem after all the problems he had. But to suggest the other members are more "successful" than in Beady Eye is absurd.
