Aside from Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, are any of their songs well known over there these days? Live Forever made noise. That is how I found Oasis. Don’t Look Back In Anger got a ton of MTV run I think I’d rank USA exposure as such: 1) Wonderwall 2) Champagne Supernova 3) Live Forever 4) Don’t Look Back In Anger Nothing else really hung. Sure TSOTL did crash the Billboard Top 100 but that was 12 years ago and haven’t heard it around these parts since early 2009. I would think Stop Crying Your Heart Out would be up there too

I wouldn't have expected Live Forever to be above DLBIA in the States. I think pretty much everywhere else DLBIA is top 2 behind Wonderwall.

Yeah, I'm surprised about that too especially as Don't Look Back In Anger is/was such a big song.

When Oasis was touring here that summer they didn’t even play it on the late night talk show rounds. The video came and went on MTV2 so fast. Plus the Butterfly Effect came out 2 years later. Well past making the song make waves in America.

Yeah I actually remember seeing it did chart a top 40 (?) on US radio airplay chart. But it was a few months after DM got released, right ?

This might end up being good exposure for Liam to an audience that otherwise doesn't know he exists. Main thing is that Obama's book just sold nearly 2 million copies in its first week of release. Often, Friday night talk show guests in the US (especially in the pandemic era) are the dregs. But Obama will likely pull in better numbers than almost anybody else could. Too bad it is pandemic era, though. Imagine Obama and Liam in the Green Room together.

How many times has liam been on fallon's late show? 1? He never chatted, didn't he? Twice -- in 2017 ("Come Back to Me") and 2019 ("Once.") Unclear if he will chat tonight. Fallon is a fan, though, so he'll hype him (although Fallon will hype anyone.)

Believe it or not Noel and Liam are pretty well known stateside. They did have a couple massive hits and everyone knows 2 things about them. 1) Wanna Be Beatles 2) They are always fighting Aside from Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova, are any of their songs well known over there these days?
In my experience, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger are the two that people over here know of. I don't think anyone's voluntarily mentioned Champagne Supernova to me, although maybe they'd recognize the title if I asked them.

It's very dependent on age here as well. If people were listening to "rock radio" in that era then they'll know Champagne Supernova. But certainly Oasis never had the same cultural meaning in the States and hasn't been passed down between generations in the same way.

I actually know the day I first heard oasis. Like you it was Live Forever. It waa the day before I took the SATs and was studying. I waa blown away. I then waited by the radio to tape the song on a cassette. I taped it and listened to it often but I never bothered to figure out who sang it. I didn't make the connection until I bought WTSMG on the power of Champagne Supernova and then purchased DM because WTSMG blew me away.

About the discussion we had earlier, just found that reddit page. Apparently, Champagne Supernova got more radio airplay than Wonderwall in the States in 1996.

That’s why I put it before DLBIA which got some run but not Supernova level in America.

People go on about oasis stateside legacy but they are known , they just never rode the mid 90s hype like they should’ve , wonderwall is massive I do wonder how many copies that’s sold in places like America , album update of sales would be good . Morning glory been stuck on same sales for 23 years , same as uk it’s been in top 100 last 5 years it seems yet sales never rise! The one thing would’ve loved to have seen oasis stadium tour in America

They never tried that again outside MSG types as one offs.

I watched some Podcast with some American comedians the other day and funnily enough Oasis popped up out of nowhere and they said "Oasis only have 3 good songs - Wonderwall, DLBIA and Champagne Supernova". Literally like the only famous songs in USA. You'd at least think they'd try and listen to more than just what's spoon fed to them on the radio but hey ho. Yanks.
