Down by The River Thames: my favorite concert since the days of the best Oasis.

How massive does The River sound? Especially the part 'You gotta scream and shout, if you're gonna work this out..' when they sing together. Love it. I think that The River always sounds great live and even better than the album version.

I forgot about the Jools Holland version and I agree with you with what you say about Gene joining in on drums.

The bit where in Cigarettes And Alcohol where Liam was going on about Boris Johnson made me laugh. Nice to know that he doesn't like this Government.

Has anyone in North American received their River Thames merchandise yet ? In La La Land, just received the physical ticket today in the mail. Did not order any additional merch. Got mine today. Was kinda hoping it'd be more like a regular ticket so I could stick it in the pocket of my notebook, but it's still a nicely done souvenir.

Was downloading James Acaster’s streaming gig tonight and had the same feeling as with Liam’s - it’s insane that to be able to have these shows available on demand you’ve got to do all these technical backflips. I paid for it once, and would probably pay as much or more again to have a permanent copy, but instead here I am fiddling around with m3u8 playlists...
People want to pay for content. Let them have it.

YES! But please make it a physical product not streaming only like the acoustic EP. And I am hoping this is made available. to stream again because I missed it the first time around (in the US and I had a prior engagement the day it was to air here)

I agree with you that the release should be physical, also if the concert does get released I hope it they will release the full gig and not just some of it like they did with the MTV unplugged album.

Without stirring the pot, I am certain Liam will only be able to release it as a live album if Noel agrees to it, otherwise you'll be left with his own tunes.

No, Liam can release a live album without ever asking Noel due to what is called compulsory licensing. Indeed, anyone can cover a song without permission on an album so long as you pay the proper licensing fees, which is why you see plenty of covers the writer of a song might not have wanted. It's also is why the MTV Unplugged stuff (with Oasis tunes aplenty) was all fine as an album. The problems come in filmed entertainment. Different kind of rights. The end.

Interesting, I know that Prince was an absolute vagina regarding any of his work and used to demand huge fee's to cover his songs. I had a look around, USA have more information on compulsory licencing than the UK does but the basic rates in the US wouldn't make it an expensive project for Liam and team if they were similair here.

I think Noel did actually give permission for the songs to be used on Liams Acoustic EP Maybe he gave his blessing (I have no idea), but there is no permission needed so what would that even mean? And how do you know Noel had any involvement at all? This comes up repeatedly mostly because of the press stories that Noel prevented Liam from using Oasis songs in As It Was. The filmmakers did indeed need Noel's permission for using the songs in a film because those rights require the express permission of the writer/owner. Whether Noel would really deny Liam the right to use the songs on a DVD of the Thames show at this point ... who knows? But Liam needs no permission at all for a recording and never has. That's just how it works. (The only odd part about it is the brother business and that Liam is "covering" songs that many see as partly belonging to him -- an unusual situation but from an entertainment law POV it's no different than say Weezer doing "Morning Glory" or Ryan Adams doing "Wonderwall." They didn't have to ask Noel. But if you want to put an Oasis song in your movie, you do have to ask him.

One thing that is definitely true is that the more Oasis songs on a Liam album the more he lines Noel's pockets!

We hope it happens! Although I would have preferred a DVD but Noel always has to screw everything up...
