Sad to see how he now hates RA and compares him to some random girl in audience. Considering the pure shite Ashcroft's produced in the last 20 years, you'd disown him too.

Sad to see how he now hates RA and compares him to some random girl in audience. That's far from hating Seriously tho, always thought Cast No Shadow was about Noel himself Yeah that's what I've always thought too. Ideas of solitude seem to pop up quite frequently in Noel's songs, Cast No Shadow being the most explicit example. Think he wrote it in the third person to avoid any risk of being seen as self-indulgent (would have been a great song regardless of whether it was first or third person).

Are you watching some alternate Q&A where Noel says he hates RA?

Cast No Shadow is a great tune and it's still one of my favourite Oasis songs, I've always loved it.

So many repeat questions about if Noel knew he was writing a classic.

Why can't someone ask.. "we get that Oasis was then and you are over it".... but what is the harm in a one off with the old band and then lock her up for good.. how could it not be a good time?"....
Saying he can't work with Liam is a bullshit response... they are in a band not playing center and left wing together where they have to pass to each other.

You mean the same question that journos have been asking for the last 10 years? Yeah, sound.

The way Noel's energy levels are going in these videos, he will be in a coma by part six.

I mean I've always thought that 's who the song was about.

Or maybe Noel now denies it because he Liam is friends with Ashcroft. I don't know.

In 1995 Noel said about Cast No Shadows:
"It's a song about my mates that are in bands. We're all sort of miserable fuckers and we're all bound by the weight of all the words we try to say. -- It's like people like Paul or Richard from the Verve--"
I'm guessing Paul means Paul Weller.

I’m sure this has been discussed time and time again but there’s an outrageous shortage of Oasis stuff in the iTunes concert & music doc catalogue.
At least throw There And Then in there.

Noel always does this lol and changes his story. Also from the 1997 BBC radio interview when talking about The Verve: "I don't write songs about many people. I've written songs about him (Liam), my mum and I've written songs about Richard Ashcroft. That man's a genius".

Are there any he's ever explicitly said ARE about Liam?

Didn't he used to say that Wonderwall was written about his first wife when it wasn't too, though?
I think the most likely explanation is that people started saying he wrote it about Ashcroft, and Noel liked that story for a while and ran with it. He's a bit of tale-teller as we all know.

Noel later claimed “The meaning of that song (Wonderwall) was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it,” he said. “And how do you tell your missus it’s not about her once she’s read it is?" But in earlier interviews Noel himself said it was about Meg, he even gave a spesific reason why he wrote the song for her: she had lost her job.

People thought he wrote it about Ashcroft because he is so skinny and casts no shadow but I've seen Noel roll his eyes in interviews when asked it before. It's one of the many questions he is fed up with answering. There's no disowning going on, he just dedicated a tune to him back in the day out of respect/friendship.
