Well I didn't use the word crap about Boy with Blues , but I've had a think and I kind of mis-typed (I was tired), and it isn't phenomenally bad or anything, the refrain IS ok. I would contend it just lacks a hooky chorus and could use a better structure. I think its better left off the album, but I'm not fussed either way whether it's this one or Aint Got Nothing on the tracklisting. You recall Noel favoured the ones the songwriters brought in that were less "songy" and more based around riffs in these 2007 sessions, thus AGN got favoured. The boy with blues is very dreary and I'm Out of Time probably does a better job of filling the "rock ballad" quota.
I respect any body's opinion that thinks TBWTB is some underappreciated gem. For me, it absolutely is not.

GLOK becoming white label releases rather than full on album. New solo single tomorrow with cover and more to come from Flicker.

I bet if they get round to releasing this Best of the 2000s b-sides and rarities thing then Boy With The Blues will get a video and release similar to the Masterplan when Stop The Clocks come out. The way Noel was praising Liam's songs when be spoke about that album being released made me think he was talking about Boy With The Blues in particular.

Such a stupid comment to make Well that’s my opinion, stupid or not. I’m not saying that the album is bad, of course not. What’s good about these songs - arrangement and dreamy vibe would be different if they recorded them for Oasis and BE. Liam’s singing would make you concentrate on vocal melody and you’d realize that it’s not strong. Also I think people have bigger expectations for Oasis, The Gallagher’s music so their criticism would be more harsh I think. Music doesn’t exist in vacuum. This is absolutely spot on. Its really easy to make these songs with much weaker melodies than what Noel comes up with and hide them behind cool production and arrangements. It's part of the reason I admire Noel so much. Yeah we all know the other side of it suffered and Oasis got stuck in their ways a bit style wise but it's incredible how strong some of Noels melodies still are. Its great he's had chance to be more creative but anyone here thinking he's suddenly become a genius songwriter because the production is a bit different is a bit deluded in my opinion.

Thanks Jim! Beautiful song. More I listen to Andy's work (and him being in Ride), more I wonder how on earth this truly talented man could be "invisible" in his Oasis years.

You have to admire the dignified silence of Andy on all things Oasis. Say what you want about Gem and Andy not adding much personality wise but when they picked them two - they picked great people.

This remix is at least as good as the album version - if not better:

I think Gem and Andy did a great job during their time in the band. Yes ok they certainly aren’t as charismatic as the Gallagher brothers but I’ve always enjoyed listening to their interviews (the few they have done) In reality they would always be overshadowed by Noel and Liam which may lead people to believe they didn’t add much personality wise.

I think that's what was perfect. If they were in any way loud mouths with big opinions they'd have last one album cycle at best. Great lads and musicians who knew not to get involved. Was exactly what the band needed to prolong themselves.

Absolutely love Andy’s cover of Listen the snow is falling by Yoko Ono, has a proper dreamy feel to it The covers EP is excellent. His solo albums and subsequent remix, acoustic and covers EPs have been first class.

GLOK Invocation (WH Lung Remix) Sabres of Paradise RSD Hardway Bros Mania Theme (Andrew Weatherall mix) GLOK That time of night (Hardway Bros meets Monkton Uptown dub) Andrew Weatherall Unknown Plunderer (Manfedas remix) Andy Bell The Sky without you (David Holmes Radical Mycology Remix) Floating Points Les Aplx Manfedas / Fantastic Twins I Want Pizza GLOK Dirty Hugs (Richard Sen remix) GLOK Cloud Cover (Andrew Weatherall remix) GLOK Re edit soundcloud.com/feedyourheadradioshow/feed-your-head-guest-mix-andy-bellI missed this guest mix when it was originally uploaded. Anyway, it has three Pattern Recognition remixes, which I’m hoping means there is another rework album or at least an EP on the way. There is also an unreleased GLOK Re-Edit of the Andrew Weatherall Cloud Cover Remix.

Something Like Love is perhaps in my top 5 songs post Oasis including both Gallagher's. I love it so much. It sounds like the sequel to Vapour Trail. It's fantastic. I listen to it loads. It's just a shame that Andy felt like he had to conform to a certain type of sound and structure of songwriting when working with the Gallagher's because I'd love to hear Liam try his hand at singing a song like this.

I didn’t know that Andy had written the intro theme for the Steve Marriott short film Midnight Of My Life a few years back. soundcloud.com/apbrecordings/midnight-of-my-life-themeThe short film is below too for reference. Under a minute but would fit into the theme of Flicker!
