Latest podcast, or “weekly tour diary” as they are calling it now - When he was at the Gibson place is Nashville he got given a Gibson Casino Stayed at an eco hotel in Toronto which had an egg timer in the shower, irked him so much he said he left all the taps on when he left (he might be joking haha) A regular listener/commenter compiled an Oasis quiz for Noel. Here’s some of the questions: - What was the longest and shortest Oasis albums? Noel got BHN right, but guessed DM for shortest (incorrectly as it’s DBTT) - What 2 Oasis songs did Johnny Marr contribute to? Noel got Probably All In The Mind right, but guessed the wrong Liam track. - How many Oasis songs were written by Andy Bell? He got these all right, slagged him a bit but said he’s a good guy. - What song played most by Oasis according to Setlists.fm (got this wrong, guessed Supersonic, was actually Cigarettes and Alcohol) - Which song opened the first gig with Noel at the Boardwalk? Noel got it right - instrumental of Columbia He got quite frustrated at the more complicated questions. One of the questions was asking what songs Oasis performed on David Letterman over the years, and upon finding out they played I Can See A Liar, Noel was like “Oh god no, it’s an awful song”. Mentioned the “tweeting” sound in the background of There She Blows, he was a bit muffled here but sounds like it’s the preset of a keyboard, something to do with the key of the song? I dunno. Someone asked which songs from NGHFB 1 were meant to be on the next Oasis album, he said Record Machine, Stop the clocks, Dream On, Wrong Beach. I guess we probably knew this already. James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) was the one of the first people outside the band to hear WTSMG apparently, met him on the train after some of the mastering sessions and played him it on a Walkman. Praised the band for a bit. Nothing else really of note to be honest What did he say about Andy Bell? A quick search through my history will tell you that I love slagging the guy off but think it's a bit harsh of Noel to do so...?

Yeah he said the sound on There She Blows is a keyboard pre-set that just gets in key with the song and to him it sounds like the sound you hear when the tube has just passed and you can hear water dripping a bit, it's just for atmosphere What you see cited as "The Tube" in the album credits is actually that keyboard pre-set You forgot to mention Max Bedford and Lou Cipher Oh yeah! This is why it's good having more than one person listen, I used to listen in one go but life has gotten so hectic lately, I have to listen in short bursts these days Haha oh yeah - Asked if he used pseudonyms in hotels for checking in, he said management used to do it, Noel was "Max Bedford" for a year, "John Collier" for a while. Liam used to pick stupid ones apparently, thought it was funny to call himself Lou Cipher (Lucifer). They had a laugh doing voices "Mr Cipher! I have your eggs!" etc. Was quite funny!

I'll agree that save for a couple of moments, Andy's Oasis tunes always seemed to be trying too hard to be too Oasisy. The stuff he's been putting out solo though, and the last couple of Ride albums (particuarly This is Not A Safe Place) has been fantastic. Dare I say I've enjoyed his first solo album more than some of the more recent Gallagher material. What did he say about Andy Bell? A quick search through my history will tell you that I love slagging the guy off but think it's a bit harsh of Noel to do so...? I might be biased (huge fan here), but RIDE's two post-reunion albums are excellent. Andy is an underrated guitar player (his solo records are very good too)

Just started to listen to the most recent one, and Noel grumbles about how woke the US is, especially California, with the "flags everywhere". Is he talking the gay pride flag? Because I live in CA and that is the only one I see. If so, not a good look.

I’d say it’s prob in my top 5 Oasis songs of this century; have always dug it.

The instrumental until more recently has never been as important. Other bands like Ride can hide behind not very strong melodies because they have a good band and more things going on instrumentally. This suits Andy Bell. But the songs that are really remembered are almost always because of the melody. That's why Noel's songs will be and Andy Bell is writing songs that'll get a few thousand streams at best.

For example, I love Turn Up The Sun and despise Keep The Dream Alive. But there's a video on YouTube where he says that Turn Up The Sun didn't have an Oasis vibe at all at first but they made it "Oasis-y" including changing the lyrics from "I carry a sadness" to "I carry a madness" because, I believe Liam, didn't like it (if I'm remembering this correctly). So it is a bit unfair to say he was trying too hard to be "Oasis-y" when it sounds like it wasn't just him. Andy is an underrated guitar player (his solo records are very good too) That is absolutely true! I was happy when he switched to guitar in Beady Eye! He's a brilliant guitar player!

Was quite the achievement that Noel answered
My New Zealand question!
I had never had a question answered
I must say Noel mood lifted once the Paul Brazil question ended

So he's rehearsing TIOBI as well. Love the tune but there's a whole new level of predictable. He said that after Glasto last year he didn't really feel like doing the ones with Liam on vocals anymore, apart from Live Forever cause it's a completely new version. Can't remember the word he used now but what I think he meant was that it felt a bit like a caricature, especially with Liam now doing the same tunes That clearly narrows down the list of possibilities, but I hope it also means we get a couple of surprises a-la Going Nowhere throughout the tour. Still holding out hope for Falling Down, and would love for him to try some Standing stuff (also, bring back D'Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman please) Still believe there's a chance he tries something like he did with Live Forever (or Supersonic before) at some point tho Hi, I m currently listning this week podcast. I don't understand what the word he used to say how he fell about singing song with liam on vocals. Does someone have it please ? Thanks !

Anything interesting in this week's podcast ? Apart from what's mentioned above on performing Oasis songs not much really, no fan questions this time He said he wouldn't have agreed to do the US tour if he could go back and realised the places were so big Also mentioned that he irons his own shirts on tour, think of that next time you see him on stage

Despite no fan questions being asked, inadvertently, Noel answered a question I've had in my head for about two decades haha: When bands / artists travel within the country they live in and the gig is close enough to get home for the night - where does the tour bus stay overnight, where do the people get off? Presumably, the answer was always obvious to anyone but me: Service station

Yes, I think he's had some good ones (NY, Boston) when they went east but they were mostly playing sheds in the middle of nowhere, he wants theatres

Was that his response? Typically in that situation, a hotel so the driver can get good rest. If the hotel can't accommodate the bus parking, park it at a secure truck stop/service station and then get a ride to hotel.
