For the first time in nearly a year, Matt is having Noel back on the podcast. Out later today apparently. Should be good. First time he'll be on since the divorce was made public so hopefully, he'll be less cagey and deflecting.

Not too much, mostly couple hours of general chit chat, Noel sounds tired from touring.
Talked about football, City's result etc, being rough at the gig next day
Talked about the album, good reviews and feedback etc, you can tell from the way he speaks he has no interest about sales etc, didn't even mention chart battle, says he leaves it all to his marketing people and gets on with the music.
Apparently had a few beers with Robert Smith before the gig he went to see. Apparently him and the cure were staying at same hotel, and Robert Smith invited him to the gig.
Talked about aliens/life on other planets (based on that UFO whistleblower stuff from the other day). He says he couldn't care less if it's true.
Discussed the acoustic album he has planned next, says it'll be mostly all instruments played by him, be very stripped back. He went in to work on it straight from Council Skies, but sounds like it was a bit too much working for him so it sounds like its on pause in terms of writing/recording.
There was a few questions from a regular listener, one which was what is his favourite cover of his songs, and it was Wonderwall by Ryan Adams, talked fondly about that but said he's bored of playing the song.
Mentioned the divorce a few times without actually mentioning it, was more like "this challenging personal issue I need to deal with"
Was asked what he considers his most under-rated song, said it was "A Dream Is All I Need To Get By"
Sounds like he'll be back soon, more regularly I think.
That's all really.
One more, completely out of context just for fun - BOSOMS!

Not surprised to hear that the "someone" sending Noel the likes of "Ringo singing She's Electric" was effectively Matt

Nothing like being told by (effectively) your former employer that you were "surplus to requirements". If you're a musician, trying to make it, that must hurt.

Noel has said from the very beginning that he always wanted the High Flying Birds lineup to change/evolve with members over the years. We’ve already seen it play out with guitarists, drummers, etc.

Charlotte's been pretty open about it on her instagram account too. Apparently it was her (and Ysee maybe) vs The Roxys, and he wanted the Roxys.

But yes, Noel said Charlotte and Ysee (sp?) were "surplus to requirements" which is pretty harsh I mean, he was also quite kind about them as people and their contributions, it's not like he slagged them off We know he's on a budget (especially in the US, as shown by the lack of a horn section as well), it's another era musically for him, I'm sure they both know how this stuff works

She sounds a bit disappointed but not angry. Sounds like she accepts it. As above, touring is expensive and choices have to be made. She sounds grateful for being on the album though. Seems like no hard feelings from what I've seen.

If he actually said the words "surplus to requirements" it does sound like a tongue in cheek type of Noel remark. He's always been super positive about Charlotte and Ysee and Charlotte even plays on Council Skies.

It didn’t sound too offensive, just Noel being honest and a bit blunt I guess, he didn’t sound like there was any hard feelings. He sounded a bit tired for most of the interview tbh, little bit more grumpy than usual.
Ironically, he did get sort of deep towards the end, said he actively wants to become a more empathetic person, said that it is one of his flaws that he lacks empathy and wants to remedy it. That was interesting.

Matt’s already lining up questions for Noel for the next podcast, looks like they weren’t kidding when they said they’d try to do it weekly!

I think A Dream Is All I Need To Get By is absolutely underrated and deserves its spot in his Best Of, nice slow start and when it kicks in it gets me going.

Latest podcast is up
Noel continuing his grumpy streak haha, first half of the podcast was talking music and most of it was slagging other artists off. Nirvana Alice In Chains primarily, and some of their more grim lyrics (although Matt said he bet Noel would like the lyrics if Morrissey wrote them haha). Also slagged Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, among others I can't remember.
Said some good things about some artists/songs though, Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, Joy Division, Sailor - Glass of Champagne. Some might have slipped my mind, listened yesterday.
Talked heavily about how artists need to be allowed to change their sound, and that staying the same is the death of an artist etc. Said you become creatively redundant if you write music to service your fanbase. Also said the next album isn't going to be 12 "Easy Now's" despite his fans saying that's what they want. Said he's glad social media wasn't around when Paul Weller did Style Council, because he reckons it would have been subject to the same backlash he got for WBTM.
They talked about Elon Musk, bizarrely. Noel said he'd never really known much about him, but he sounds cool and would like to meet him etc, mostly based on his Space X stuff it would seem. Although he seemed a bit less keen when Matt mentioned how he's a bit mad in reality, i.e. the "living in a simulation" nonsense etc.
They did a mock Mastermind quiz, with Noel's specialist subject being 80's chart music or something, he did pretty good to be fair. Told a story about how his auntie and Morrissey's auntie worked in the same hospital, and managed to get him to sign a copy of Morrissey's Suedehead single for Noel. Noel said he later told this story to Morrissey and he apparently couldn't have been less interested haha.
Matt started challenging him with obscure Oasis questions, main one being "who played the harmonica on the demo version of Songbird", turns out it was Gem. He also said it was a good song (although also said its his only good one).
Talked about the AI Liam version of the first NGHFB album. Matt is fascinated by the technology (aren't we all).
He played out a version of "If I Had A Gun" with Liam vocals on the podcast, to see Noel's reaction. Noel just laughed, and said "make it stop". Said "it sounds like a fucking shit tribute act in a parka". Noel said it sounds much worse than Liam actually sounds (might be a backhanded compliment in there somewhere), and that all the AI stuff is pointless anyway.
Quickfire questions now -
Who Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders didn't get a release because Noel says it's "lacking something". Says the same about "Sail On", "Alone On The Rope", and "Simple Game Of Genius". Says people fawn over it but he feels they are missing something. Not sure I agree especially on the last 3.
Asked which Macca song he'd like to cover, said "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" or "Flaming Pie".
Favourite track openers of any album - he said Rock 'n' Roll Star (Definitely Maybe), Taxman (Revolver), I Wanna Be Adored (Roses), Son Of A Gun (La's), Everybody's On The Run (NGHFB)
Asked what the last present he got from Liam, and last one he gave to Liam. Said he got a lawyers letter from him, didn't say when but assume back during the lawsuit in 2012 or whenever it was. Said he got some Pretty Green swag back in the day, which he gave to the local charity shop (a story he's told before).
Talked about Ian Brown for a bit, remained tight lipped on his conspiracy shit, but said he's a good friend. Talked about how without Stone Roses there would be no Oasis.
Last of all, huge news - he gets his hair cut every 10 days

Latest podcast, or “weekly tour diary” as they are calling it now -
When he was at the Gibson place is Nashville he got given a Gibson Casino
Stayed at an eco hotel in Toronto which had an egg timer in the shower, irked him so much he said he left all the taps on when he left (he might be joking haha)
A regular listener/commenter compiled an Oasis quiz for Noel. Here’s some of the questions:
- What was the longest and shortest Oasis albums? Noel got BHN right, but guessed DM for shortest (incorrectly as it’s DBTT)
- What 2 Oasis songs did Johnny Marr contribute to? Noel got Probably All In The Mind right, but guessed the wrong Liam track.
- How many Oasis songs were written by Andy Bell? He got these all right, slagged him a bit but said he’s a good guy.
- What song played most by Oasis according to Setlists.fm (got this wrong, guessed Supersonic, was actually Cigarettes and Alcohol)
- Which song opened the first gig with Noel at the Boardwalk? Noel got it right - instrumental of Columbia
He got quite frustrated at the more complicated questions.
One of the questions was asking what songs Oasis performed on David Letterman over the years, and upon finding out they played I Can See A Liar, Noel was like “Oh god no, it’s an awful song”.
Mentioned the “tweeting” sound in the background of There She Blows, he was a bit muffled here but sounds like it’s the preset of a keyboard, something to do with the key of the song? I dunno.
Someone asked which songs from NGHFB 1 were meant to be on the next Oasis album, he said Record Machine, Stop the clocks, Dream On, Wrong Beach. I guess we probably knew this already.
James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) was the one of the first people outside the band to hear WTSMG apparently, met him on the train after some of the mastering sessions and played him it on a Walkman. Praised the band for a bit.
Nothing else really of note to be honest
