Can’t believe he’s deleted all the Noel episodes.
This has been blown well out of proportion.

If not this time, he would still be backlashed due to talking about other offensive topics in the future as long as Matt not willing to check and edit all the podcast before posting. So I have downloaded most of these episodes as backup before…

Can’t believe he’s deleted all the Noel episodes. This has been blown well out of proportion. would bet my (primark) shirt that has come from Noel. As much as he plays the 'dont give a f__k' rock star Noel has always cared what people think of him and won't have liked the level of criticism his behaviour has attracted. He clearly misjudged the situation, what to him was a funny and slightly edgy anecdote has been taken on a completely different level by many. Noels body is living in 2022 but his mind and attitude is still stuck in the 90s. Happens to lots of people as we get older, we just don't all have Noels platform to make complete asses of ourselves. I would be surprised if we see him on these podcasts again.

It doesn't offend me, but I'm not disabled and happy to acknowledge there are people within this thread and beyond who are and are offended. We have to respect that.
Whenever Noel has made comments like this in the past, he has always had the attitude of 'I don't give a fuck' and managed to turn the joke back on those who were offended. But society has changed and he can't just dismiss these things anymore. He made himself look extremely thick and ignorant with his Covid comments over the last couple of years and his popularity is on the wane. He needs to learn how to keep his gob shut, he can't get away with being as crass and offensive as he just to be. He's turning into the old man shouting at the clouds.

Noel just seems to be getting worse and worse with his stupid comments as he gets older and it's no wonder that his latest ignorant comments have caused so much backlash.

A reminder that no-one has tried to "cancel" Noel. Even on the "woke-brigade capital" of Twitter, a glance reveals that among hundreds of tweets on the subject, a total of one suggests Glastonbury should question his platform, and the rest are just calling him a twat. One commentator comes out with the delightful turn of phrase that he "needs to take his face for a shite". I'll also say that both the decision to say the things they did, and to look through previous podcasts for other embarrassing content, are entirely the responsibility of Noel and Matt alone.
As has been said, any kind of informed apology and ownership would make the situation nothing more than a disappointing blip in their careers. Who knows, it might even act as a good chance for some growth on their parts.

If so, they're not very very good at it. Hunkering down, withdrawing, deleting things, acting paranoid, a punitive approach ... not a great look. There are better ways. (His little brother is actually quite good at getting out of scrapes with an apology, he should take note.)
I do wonder if Noel gets any good advice. Many celebrities live by necessity in a bubble world but does Noel have anyone outside his bubble (family doesn't count, and Matt clearly doesn't) who can give him a broader perspective?

In reality, true cancellation (as in you lose your career) is a relatively rare phenomenon. The overuse of the phrase (and especially the use of it to mean someone got mad because you were an ass) has made it essentially meaningless. Cancellation doesn't mean "some people criticize you." In most cases where someone's career was truly cancelled as in ruined, it was because of an actual crime or accusation of a crime, or for blatant public racism or homophobia, or for repeated incidents of sexual or employee harassment (even if no criminal proceedings occurred).
None of that is happening here. He's not in danger of being cancelled. But he is in danger of narrowing his audience further, and turning even some of his fans and supporters (including in the press and entertainment industry)off, which is stupid right before his first album in many years. No need for it. Owning it and saying he heard the disabled community's point is the big man move.

(His little brother is actually quite good at getting out of scrapes with an apology, he should take note.) Lizzo had a potential issue with the release of her latest song (used a word that some consider offensive). She took action - rerecorded and apologized. Issue over. I do agree he needs to learn to apologize (and mean it). In the beginning, Noel definitely got media mileage out of telling the story as it happened and making people feel like they got to go along for the ride upwards - council estate to millionaire, though even then I tired of the story of the brown rolls royce and fancy watches. But he's never outgrown it. He still goes endlessly on about his celebrity pals, his exotic vacations, his endless millions. I think he would be well served to do a real (not a PR-imposed) review of who he is at this moment. Usually at this point in life people start to get down to what is truly important to them and drop the flash. One additional thought: maybe we'll see him reconnect with Liam now. Not because he wants to, but because some PR person will broach it to get the media and people to move off the topic of Noel is a twat.

I've stayed well away from this absolutely grim culture war, i gave up on politics a while ago, i use the internet sparsely and rarely ever read the news and as a result I'm much happier than most people nowdays.
I'm not young or old at 29, I find it hard to identify with both sides of this stupid internet culture war. What I find frustrating is that as normal common people you're all arguing about such petty inconsequential shit on the internet and seeing each other as the enemy while so many people are struggling to get by, people cant pay their bills and are ending up homeless, there are people in the western world literally homeless because of a war while oil companies are making record profits, the rich are getting richer, poverty and economic deprivation are increasing alongside crime and the world is literally on fire from climate change and you're all arguing amoung each other about such petty differences when you should be focusing on the real enemy which is all of the sons of bitches in positions of power around the world.
Look guys and girls, stop idolizing celebrities, get off the internet for a while and focus on your own life and the people you care about around you. Stop worrying about the opinions of others and if you have the energy to hate anyone hate our fucking 'leaders' because the worst of us always rise to power and I can't help but feel that this tragic current culture war is being stoked by them to distract people from the real important issues.
So a celebrity that you deify says something that offends you or people who are offended by people getting offended by that are offended. Who cares? There are bigger issues going on right now and I can't help but feel like you're all playing into their hands by turning on each other over such stupid shit. So a celebrity said or did this or that, who fucking cares?

The worst past of this whole debacle is finding out Noel is really good friends with Rita fucking Ora - stop hanging about with dafties like that Noel ffs. I think we all need to remember that 99% of what Noel says is made up so I would not be surprised if he wasn't even in the area reserved for disabled people. In fact he probably wasn't even at Jamie T and was in his tent with Sara sipping some peppermint tea. I think shadowplay ^ nails it though probably.

I mean it’s an Oasis forum so people are going to discuss Oasis-related news, no? Doesn’t mean you can’t also be political or work to fight climate change or do anything else at all in life just because you spend a few minutes here. Most of the rest of what I do with my day shares precious little in common with my interest in Oasis, as I'm sure is true for most.
But is this truly stupid shit? No. The simple truth is that very real disabled people were upset about Noel’s specific actions and words not "to be offended" but because it makes the world worse for them, and it doesn’t have to be that way. That's actually important, and a lot easier than climate change to address, even if it doesn't affect your life directly. Sometimes it’s hard to hear that what you think is just having fun feels harmful to other people, but if you CAN hear it, all it does is make everyone happier in the end. That is all this is. Not a culture war or other cliche.

To be fair I wasn't addressing that specifically. If i was disabled at a gig in a disabled area and had some arrogant wanker with a god complex disturb my view and start belittling me I'd probably be annoyed too. This thread has since descended into a culture war again and my post was relating to that, not your first post. I absolutely sympathies with your situation but on your issue specifically, just don't rise to it or give a fuck, you do you, enjoy the people around you, fuck Noel or Liam or any other celebrity that has wormed their way into peoples god hole and shrug it off. You're cool as fuck for going to the gig and you got to have great night, just enjoy that, speak to your friends about it and ignore the negativity. My post was about how we should stop fighting with each other.

I do think in his private life, Noel knows what is important to him and makes that fairly apparent: family (at least that portion of it he gets along with!), creative freedom, the music itself, the respect of his peers. He just doesn't want to make the error of letting his public persona narrow what he can achieve.
His public persona is larger than life, iconoclastic, and loved by many so it's not that he has to or should completely change it. He just has to let it mature a bit ... y'know like his hair.

People who were there tweeted about it days before that podcast was uploaded. I found it easily coz I couldn’t forget this “perks of writing Wonderwall” bit that he allegedly said to people who wanted him to leave he has been rich and privileged for 25+ years, surrounded himself with trashy celebrities and yes-men. So no wonder he’s completely out of touch and thinks that he’s better than everyone else. That’s not first Noel’s ‘funny story’ that made me 😣

He was clearly being sarcastic saying that but aye if he was asked to leave and didn't, then he's been right twat and needs to get a grip. As an aside - me and a couple of mates stood in the disabled bit at a game once - there was clearly a fuck up with tickets and there were no seats left when we got in. We were standing in the isle and folk were shouting at us "sit doon, we cannae see ffs". So we went into the disabled bit and asked the steward "can we stand in here" and he said as long as the folk in there didn't mind - he went and asked them (circa 10 folk) and all of them were fine with it. We stood at the back so were not in anybody's way. If they had said no then of course we'd have left.
