Fair enough that it may offend some people, but I don't think it was as bad like these tabloids are making out. I'm not disabled so I don't have any right to judge how anyone should feel about it. There's a lot of dark humour in these podcasts, but it's also one of the reasons it's as good as it is. Completely agree each to their own though regarding how to take these jokes.
Really, though? Was it that terribly funny, at other people's expense, that you would have missed it if Matt had simply edited that part out, easy to do in minutes?
It's not just here but people on twitter are upset and hurt by these remarks. What is the good done by that? I honestly don't get it. The edit function was invented long ago and for good reasons.

The whole celebrity entitlement thing pisses me off tbh.
Not comparing these situations, but like when celebrities get free tickets to places etc... The pricks should be paying more than "normal" people as they're loaded.
Remember Roger Daltrey commenting on it previously saying before he was famous he couldn't afford anything, now people are giving him everything for free. It's a backwards system

Just about the 'going on the platform (...) reeks of arrogance' - he says they didn't know it was the disabled platform. People will defend any behavior of the Gallaghers no matter what, but this ... I mean, he obviously knew. He also says the security told him it was in case he truly couldn't figure it out. Well, I'm sure some people will, girllikeabomb. I've certainly found some comments of his kind of hard to take in the past and I'm sorry you've been upset by these ones. Best wishes.

I was referring to the dark humour in general, not this specific incident. Again, I can't judge because I am not disabled or know anyone who is disabled closely enough to know where the line is with this stuff, when I heard it I certainly didn't think "that's bang out of order" or anything. A lot of that stuff passes me by. I sympathise with those who are genuinely upset by this though. Twitter, however, I can't take seriously on any matter anymore, because of the sheer insanity that dwells there, but that's another discussion entirely. This reminds me heavily of Ricky Gervais' recent comedy shows, the mega risque/toeing the line of offence stuff. I find it funny, but can understand how people would be upset, especially if it has affected them. But personally the "you will rise" comment made me chuckle (probably more because of the way Matt said it) until I found out that was something that people are upset by, I didn't know it was a common insult. But you live and learn, and I wouldn't laugh again. I will say this - there has a been worse stuff in these podcasts by far than this incident. And what's more, Matt has edited stuff out in the past, he's mentioned it specifically, can only imagine what Noel said those times!

Maybe so. Without getting into a big discussion here about twitter (it's just a place full of human beings, some insane and some amazing) or getting into the nature of comedy (though I feel it's quite different when you are satirizing prejudice rather than demonstrating it)... my point still remains that Matt and Noel aren't really doing each other any service with this stuff. Not every word that Noel utters has to be recorded for posterity. This is a product for public consumption, so do some editing to help your buddy out. Times change, and if you don't change with them, you look very out of touch.

Apologized that I also laughed during the "rise" part because my understanding is Noel was joking the festival was so brilliant that can even cure your body physically like a miracle.
Whether a comment like this is offensive or not should be decided by disabled people rather than others. If they feel uncomfortable, then Noel is definitely wrong. Especially considering the photo of the man with artificial leg I post before, he must be disappointed now.
Btw as far as I remembered, there were more "hellish gags" if you listened carefully to the previous episodes. If those tabloid writers are patient enough to do some research, they can produce articles like this every other day.

It's not really the point, the point is that even going on the platform in the first place and saying 'this pass can get me any fucking where' reeks of arrogance and entitlement and the comments made by both him and Matt are just typical schoolboy, toilet humour. Sick of it Just about the 'going on the platform (...) reeks of arrogance' - he says they didn't know it was the disabled platform. I highly doubt that, disabled platforms are usually very easily identifiable. He just said it to cover his arse it's obvious

What he said was something along the lines of 'I was touching people on the floor going 'rise, you will walk' which essentially is him alluding to faith healers who claim to be able to cure people's conditions in a split second through the power of god apparently. Just like Matt's line about 'have you tried?' it just stinks of cluelessness though as he'll never know what it's like to deal with this on a daily basis and hearing him fire condescending cheap shots like that was disheartening to say the least

I do think one of the perks of playing a festival is getting a pass to mooch around all the vip bits though, so not got a prob with noel for that

The worst is he said that disabled people had a great view. I bet those people would rather jump up and down in the last row completely unable to see anything than sit and "enjoy a great view".
But I'm curious that are performers with AAA pass really allowed to get to the disabled stage? Not morally, just in terms of rules.
Also sending my love to Sadie, hope you're ok now.

If it does then that's insane, although I do get the feeling he kind of barged his way in (as if anyone would have the balls to kick Noel Gallagher off the platform)

What Noel said is absolutely disgusting and he should keep his mouth shut to be honest. I have a disability myself even though it's hidden. What he said isn't even funny in the slightest.

If you are offended by noel being arrogant you obviously havenāt been a fan of the Gallaghers long. People have loved them and hated them since the 90ās cos they ate arrogant. His comments were just tongue in cheek. Itās noel Gallagher , heās just supported macca at glastonbury. He can sit or stand where he wants. Typical woke brigade response on here from people. Thatās what i love about the Gallaghers they arenāt frightened to say controversial things. He was just having a laugh but you arenāt allowed to laugh at anything these days

I bet you'd be the first one moaning your head off if someone parked in a disabled space. Its idiotic, arrogant behaviour. It's shameful.

No one is curtailing Noelās freedoms, for godsakes. He can do what he pleases but like anyone, if heās a public dick, heās not exempt from getting called out.
āYou arenāt allowed to laugh at anything these days.ā Not even close. People are asking that you not laugh at their expense, that you bring just a wee bit of simple humanity to your public patter, thatās it, and that leaves literal billions of other things to laugh at. It also has nothing to with Noel being cheekily in love with himself as a superstar. That part may annoy some but itās not a form of bias.
Some folks here heard what Sadie and others are saying and it was cool to see that. What is wrong with listening to why comments (and actions) hurt other people? āWokeā is a term too often used to attempt to degrade people for caring about one another.
