Did they discuss any Liam stuff? New album, knebworth, etc?

I thought I remember an interview that suggested that Liam had done a take for Little By Little and Force of Nature. That Heathen Chemistry 25th anniversary box set is gonna slap!!!!! Noel destroyed the master copies but on the week of the 25th anniversary he will discover it in a sock draw.

Finished rehearsals today
They discussed the “photo incident”, sounds like Noel was just being arsey about Matt putting pics of him on the internet, he’s not that annoyed about it, bit tongue in cheek but they seem fine
He’s been adding strings to rocky songs for the album, says the arrangements are great (the ones he’s been doing at abbey road).
Talks briefly about the song “Whatever” and how that was the first time they did strings, and how from there’s he’s evolved into knowing what’s good and bad when it comes to string arrangements
Talked about Jill Furmanovsky (think she had been taking pictures of him while at abbey road) and how they originally met etc
Told the football headbutt story for a bit, some chat about Sex Pistols biopic
Albums finished, mixing after summer. He had rough mixes, but thinks it’s going to sound “fucking great”
Talked obi wan Kenobi, says he loves it so far
He was asked about Let’s All Make Believe but had nothing to say about it really
Mostly after that just general chit chat nothing that interesting. One thing that amused me that is that he’s getting a RyanAir flight to Dublin soon, can’t imagine it haha.
Asked about whether he’d shag Yoda or Jabba the Hutt, some disturbing and hilarious discussion ensued. If you ever want to understand the difference between Noel in interviews and Noel talking to Matt, this is a perfect example to listen to
Briefly talked about Mind Games, might actually end up as an extra track on different versions of the album

LightsOffInsideI love how angry Matt Morgan makes people. He is funny IMHO and I love listening to Noel and him chatting because Noel is truly himself - i.e. not a rock star, just a bloke having a laugh. It is all very disarming and nice to listen to. You also get real nuggets because he lets his guard down and chats about things without the mindset of 'I am talking to the NME here so need to give a media friendly answer.' On this note, I am currently listening back to all of the Russell Brand / Noel collabs on his old radio show. Have they ever mentioned Russell directly on the pod? I gather that they have probably distanced themselves from him slightly, now he has gone on a bit of different path. It'd be a shame if Noel and Russell aren't mates though. especially given RB was his best man!

Gotta say, if I had a friend who's 'gone on a bit of a different path' as you put it, I'd probably distance myself from that person as well, best man etc. or not... I suspect that both Noel and Matt find RB's views questionable at best and are probably also conscious of being associated with him these days, especially Matt because of his tv work and the fact he actually has to work for a living, unlike Noel and RB, obviously. From what I recall, Noel was at RB's second wedding in 2017 and he also mentioned on the podcast that he'd spoken to Russell at some point during lockdown.

Matt definitely distanced himself from Russell even before the whole Youtube thing blew up, they went on different paths in terms of work but also in one of the solo podcasts Matt kinda explained the last few times they met he realised they didn't seem to be on the same wavelenght anymore I don't remember all of it but he mentioned how when Russ went on the podcast (it was the star of the Patreon ones I think, so maybe summer/fall 2020?) it felt "weird" Noel has not really mentioned any fallout and yeah he talked about speaking to him, it must be a year now tho I think he still sees him as a mate but they don't hang out or text as much anymore, he's definitely closer with Matt

I've listened to the one where he had Russ on, but don't remember hearing him talk about it after. I'm thinking of re-signing up and would like to try and find that ep. Sorry for the slight derail.

Wait in what way has Russell Brand giving any reason for friends to turn their back on him? And an American i watch his show and find him to be fantastic at reading through the BS we see in the news and he has great takes. Nothing he says is outlandish and is all rooted in facts. Be a shame if anyone would reject him based on his YouTube show.

Doesn't mean we're not mates anymore, we just live very different lives. When we see each other (I saw him last month) it's the same as it ever was. Blokes - especially working class ones - can be very much like that (whatever country you're from I imagine).

I was referring to the comment earlier that said they were both distancing themselves from brand Yeah I said that. It was just my impression / speculation based on the podcasts but obviously I don't know if they actually have. Distancing yourself is different to turning your back on someone though. So I don't think either of them has done the latter. And yes, my best friend and I are the same as well - even though we're middle class women hahaha. If we met NOW, we probably wouldn't even become friends but because we've been friends for over 20 years, we still get on great, still laugh about the same things, take the piss out of each other and all that even though our lives are pretty different and, due to living in different countries now, we hardly see each other these days. But when we do, it's like we see each other every day, just like we did at school. I guess that's just how old friendships work - you've been through a lot together, you know each other inside out and that's what makes that friendship great and strong, whereas with friends you've only known for a few years, you actively have to work on the friendship to maintain it...

I can tell you this, I believe almost nothing I’m told from media/politicians controlled by the companies/corporations that fund them. There are endless examples of heinous acts on citizens committed by this government, so hard to have any faith in them…

Russell has always been a bit of a twat, but he was funny and self-aware enough for you not to mind (a bit like Liam, if you get me) - and those old Radio 2 shows remain some of the funniest things I've ever listened to.
He's definitely swimming into murkier waters now, though. His politics, although I agree with a lot of them or at least used to, always felt like a way for him to garner attention and seem deep/intellectual (he used to poke fun at himself for all that and it was always funny), but it's become more self-serious over time.
He's currently at about 2011 in the Ricky-Gervais-2000-to-2022 spectrum of going from likeable to an utter c*nt.

I’m pretty sure he has a track record of trying to stand up for disadvantaged/addicted people, so I just look at what he’s doing now as trying to provide people with information they might think is relevant/important. I don’t agree with all of his views, but I can appreciate that he’s providing them.

Questioning the government that doesn't give a shit about you and never has is extremely healthy for a society and those that call those pple conspiracy theorists or "crazy" are the problem.

And I can still listen to stuff like this every week and never stop laughing: "You will never be an actress!"

New podcast today-
He’s currently in LA - Beverly Hills, left a couple days after Glastonbury. His bags ended up in New York due to all the flight chaos, but he’s got them back now.
He went to visit the house from the Don’t Look Back In Anger (in Pasedena) couldn’t tell Matt why, but it’s the first time he’s been there in 27 years. He was doing some filming anyway, he said he “can’t say because it’s someone else’s announcement to make”.
Talked about Liam on music video sets, said that it was a struggle to get him to show up for videos for songs he sang on, but when it was videos for Noel-sung songs, you couldn’t get rid of him, even though he wasn’t needed.
Talked loads about Glastonbury, not much of interest, just said he loved it and thought it went great. Couple stories about him and Matt during Margate gig, nothing of note.
Talked a bit about Guns N Roses
Also spoke about his conscious decision to split his set in half- first half HFB, second half Oasis. Sounds like that might be the set structure at his gigs from now on, potentially.
Mentioned how he had to re-teach himself the DLBIA solo, said first couple tries was awful (mentions how his fingers are getting slower as he gets older). Quite a bit of tricky guitar work on the new record (says Gem will be doing it on the tour).
Says the stuff that Johnny Marr has done on the record is very intricate and complicated.
Mentioned the Gibson Guitar going for sale, the 355 etc, says it’ll be expensive, possibly north of £7k, and there will be more guitars too as part of a sort of “Noel 90s Collection”.

Also said that he didn't go to watch Macca at Glastonbury but went to see Jamie T from the disabled platform instead with his "dear friend" Rita Ora, his kids and other people.
