Yep if he’s telling the truth about them being old that’s songs that weren’t good enough for the Oasis albums and his first solo records. And sadly this bar wasn’t super high. But maybe he just is hyping his new records, signaling for the fans that he’s gonna return to old roots and these songs are new? No “dudes&dudettes, Mancunian band oasis not gonna release new album, I’m too busy polishing my nails» from him yet. It’s my conspiracy theory I have made after I read this thread. Good God, this has nothing to do with his next record, he's been talking about it for the last 6 months, he talked about it in this episode too He has never even approached these "old demos" yet, may not do it for who knows how long, but they are two completely different things These old Oasis (or written during the Oasis days) tunes exist, he said he'd like to revisit them, as his new tunes ready to be recorded and be part of album #4 exist This is simply a case of an idea and a project he'd like to take on in the studio being turned into a definitive thing when he never said it was He's not come out and denied it as he's not come out and denied the thousands stories they have made up or embellished since the podcast has started I said “signaling”. Signaling that his “I’m not gonna write songs that sounds like Oasis anymore, stupid parka monkeys”era are over.

Signaling that his “I’m not gonna write songs that sounds like Oasis anymore, stupid parka monkeys”era are over. How? I mean, he still put Sail On out as a b side to Black Star Dancing and Dead In The Water on the same record as It's Beautiful World, and one of the things he said was that what he thought was interesting was how differently he'd approach those songs now, and he certainly didn't rule out recording them in the "new style", whatever that may be I don't think he's gonna limit himself anymore at this point, which may mean getting some old and some new And going back to old stuff and finding something that you think might be worth working on again as a songwriter is not exactly world shattering, it happens all the time EDIT: also one thing I think is not clear about all this is that this came out after a question that openly mentioned Slow, and Noel's prone to be a bit more laid back in the podcasts with Matt so he answered more or less candidly, it's not like he woke up and decided to inform the world about his new Oasis demos

It wasn’t just 1 interview, it was consistent. Sail on is b side, and he said that he didn’t want to record Dead in the water and put on the record iirc. You can notice the shift from this to “I may record the old oasis era songs” EDIT about your edited text: It’s just my conspiracy theory as I said, don’t take it very seriously. It could be him just chatting, we will see.

Yeah, I thought so. It does make me laugh sometimes though as he always changes his best song he's written quite a lot in interviews. Well tbf I think it's quite normal for a songwriter to get excited about new stuff when it's good Then as the time goes by things stabilize themselves and some stand the test of time more than others True. Another song he's always said or used to say was his best song he wrote was of course The Masterplan.

When Noel writes a new song he often says that it's his best song. I really wonder what he thinks is his best song he's written and I'm sure there will be plenty more songs he writes in the future which he thinks are his best song. When he's feeling ever so slightly humble he will say a song off Definitely Maybe and praise Liam's vocals. When he's in dickhead mode he will say songs he did vocal on. When he's in dickhead, tofu eating, pure delusional mode he will say something off Who Built The Moon. That's true. But he says so many songs he's written are the best he's ever.

I don't know or maybe I can't remember as sometimes it's hard to keep up with all that he says about his songs and I don't read his interviews these days.

Well, I don't do podcasts but from what I've read on here about Noel's attitude about Covid and not wearing a mask I agree with you.

I read about this on Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird is a good song but it's certainly not the best song which Liam has written. But we know that both Noel and Liam will say that certain songs are the best that they've written like in this interview with Noel.

Noel has said that about Songbird since the first time he heard it.

I remember recently reading a quote of Noel speaking dismissively of the other band members' songwriting input on Oasis albums in the '00s, saying "Songbird was alright for a week".
Maybe it was in a Mojo interview from 2019.

Yeah, Noel always talks a load of bullshit about Liam's songs anyway. So it's not surprising that he's always slagging them off.
