So Boris Johnson is relaxing all the Covid rules including the end of free testing and scraping self- isolation rules which is absolutely stupid and even medical experts and opposition parties have questioned the proposals.

I read on the BBC news pages that around 4.7 million Covid vaccine doses ended up as wasteage in England by the end of October 2021, a government report reveals. This isn't good at all .

A fascinating, and unsettling video.
The media's ability to peddle pseudo-science into the public consciousness in the name of "brave, open-minded, controversial journalism" is terrifying. I don't know what could be done about it, in the short-term. You feel as if every news report on these subjects should be accompanied by an actual explanation of the studies involved.

The fact that a medical journal allowed the deeply-unscientific paper that first linked vaccines to autism to be published is also alarming. I would hope that much higher standards for publication has emerged in the wake of the deaths of all those children who went unvaccinated because of the work of one charlatan.

Imagine that in 2003 we still didnβt know who caused 9/11. Thatβs the idiocy we find ourselves with the Coronavirus. Imagine a world where there are more viruses than there are stars in the sky and that dozens upon dozens of these have the potential at any point to jump from obscure animals to humans and become highly infectious in a world so globalized it can be everywhere before anyone realizes the extent (let alone the full nature) of the danger.
Thatβs the world we live in. And no matter what you think of Covid-19, even if you think itβs some heavily concocted Truman Show hoax to do β¦whatever, itβs a 100% guarantee there will be many novel and mutated viruses that will pop up, seemingly out of nowhere, annoyingly out of our control, to trouble humankind (well, unless we manage to kill off our entire species by other means in the near future β¦ )

I just canβt fathom how deep investigations and a proper hypothesis over 2 years later have yet to happen. We need to know what happened to best control the virus further and make sure it doesnβt happen again. Thatβs all I was saying. I personally think it was an accidental lab leakβ¦. Virus is coronavirus originated from Wuhan, right next to the Wuhan Lab which was studying the coronavirus. Lab leaks do happen, just this one was a fatal mistake. You can believe the wet market theory, thatβs fine. My point is that we still do not know.

Agreed. Experts have already said that if we don't change our relationship with animals (which is already broken) then we'll get more viruses like Covid.

The thing is that scientists can fathom it because it typically takes many years to come up with a solid chain of evidence for how a virus outbreak started. It's only been two now and virologists, needless to say, have been pretty busy lately ...
Still three different new studies released just last week all conclude the origin was from the Wuhan Seafood Market via animal-to-human transmission. One is based on finding virus samples that are 99% genetically similar to Covid-19 in the natural environment near Wuhan. This was also the way that coronaviruses that caused SARS and MERS spread so it's the most likely of the explanations. (The other two were studies that mapped the earliest known Covid-19 cases as all being near the Seafood Market.)
Sure, there could have been exposure or a leak via the lab. Not impossible but no one has presented any strong evidence yet.
There's nothing odd or suspicious of course about an infectious disease laboratory studying the diseases that you find locally. China is full of coronaviruses of all kinds, most of which are only found in animals, so they need to be studied. I've seen people saying that it's suspicious that a lab studying coronaviruses was there but it really isn't. Coronavirus was there first, not the lab!
Even if there was a freak lab accident it doesn't change much about the looming dangers of viruses and the need to prepare for future pandemics.
People want someone to blame for what we went through, which is understandable, but viruses just don't care about humankind or our ways. They just want to do their virus thing.

Yeah, very true, and the more human populations grow--and move into new areas because of changing climate--the more we are likely to disturb animal populations that haven't typically had a lot of human contact. Bad for the animals ... and also bad for us!

Yeah, that's true. I've read that diseases come from animals. But these wet markets don't help the situation either because of the way the animals are killed on them that's how these viruses start and spread because all the germs are mixed together.
