According to Liam it has nothing to do with MTV Unplugged or Heaton Park, it's not new music, and it's BIBLICAL. He loves teasing us

Good he needs a breather and keep plugging WMWN, no use in jumping into another album cycle. Hopefully we get at least 2-3 quality LG solo penned tunes this time around

Hopefully we get at least 2-3 quality LG solo penned tunes this time around If he can be arsed to finish a song; I'm afraid nowadays he findsit more comfortable submitting bits of verses to his army of songwriters for them to build a song around, watering down the soul that lied within personal songs such as "Bold", "I've all I need" or "When I'm in need" into more generic radio-friendly tunes. Shame, the best songs on "As you were" are the ones he wrote, & that's why WMWN? isn't as good an album.

But it does less of Liam's hand prints than AYW.

Hoping he sticks with the same people, but this time maybe have at least a couple solely written by Liam, as on As You Were he really wrote a few gems (Ive All I Need, Greedy Soul etc). Certainly excited for it .

Certainly excited for it . Depends on quality. If they are good they will be on the LP. If they are weak.......dust bin. This formula is working so don’t screw with it.

Hope he works with Simon Aldred more. WMWN,Now That I Found You and Misunderstood three of the best songs on the album. Some good tunes with Andrew Wyatt too, Once, One of Us and Invisisble Sun.
Songs involving Greg Kurstin, Shockwave, Halo, Be Still and Meadow I find the weakest generally so I'd be happy to see Liam swerve him next time round.

We need Kevin Parker to cross paths with Liam just once.

The other two you mentioned are sub-par Beady Eye type tunes, in my opinion. I also think WMWN is vastly superior to AYW.

We need Kevin Parker to cross paths with Liam just once. I’m all for the one that wrote the first two Tame Impala records. This era Kevin Parker that’s said he prefers to make tunes without a guitar nowadays, not so much.

But if he was, and they could produce some it doesn’t have to be that way type shit, FUCK YES!!

Wonder if Liam's US festival dates are spread apart because he is headed into a studio. Maybe even in Memphis? There was talk of him working with Dan Auerbach during the BE days, and he has a studio in Tennessee.

I agree about his WMWN tunes (possibly excluding Halo), but the Kurstin-produced stuff on AYW included 3 of my 4 favourites on that album (Wall of Glass, Come Back To Me and Doesnt Have To Be That Way). So Id maybe be willing to give him another try. After all, I loved many of Wyatt’s tracks on WMWN after not rating Chinatown.

As songwriters are literally queuing up to work with him, I was really hoping for Liam to dip his toe in some new waters for just a few tracks on the new album but it seems he’s sticking with the proven, if complacent, formula for the last of the trilogy.

Really? Do you know anything about whos set to be involved, like writing/production-wise? There hasn’t been a strong positive correlation between Liam’s songwriting input and the success of a song compared to those written by others, so I guess this seems a less important factor, so they’re marching on with it. Makes me a little sad as I think he has a lot to give as a songwriter, but just not on demand.
