Two different worlds. An actor is an actor, a musician is more of a craftsman, someone who goes into the woods and chop its own tree, cut it, and make a beautiful statue or any other art out of it. There are actors who write and perform they own material too (stand ups and comedians are closer to musicians to me, because they write their own material, It's them onstage - mostly - ), but as i said before, Liam is a performer now, just like actors are performers, it's only one level. I enjoy musicians who have many levels to them. Do i enjoy movies ? Yes. Do they matter as much as music. Hell no. Music is on another level for me, it's in my bones, a song can be a whole world. You don't walk down the aisle to a movie. But you can to a movie soundtrack. How many times will you watch the same movie in a lifetime ? 5 times maybe, at most. 20 if you really fuckin love it. How many times will you listen to a song. thousands of times. That's why it has to be more "true", or at least, needs to have more implication from the guy who is singing it. A song is also a part of a musician, i doubt Daniel Day Lewis lives for his movies after he shot them. When they are shot, they are shot, there's no going back to it. A singer sings his songs every night in front of an audience, or in his own bedroom, to his kids, that is why i feel they need to be true. That's why they need more involvement. Otherwise it's like going to see a play. It's enjoyable, it can be life changing in a way, makes you reflect on things, but it has a certain time frame that a song doesn't have. A song lives in the air, in your head, it can ruin or make your day. it's the most complete form of art there is. What did we choose to communicate with potential alien on The Voyager golden record ? sounds, music and images from earth, not movies. I guess we should have included music written by another planet then, since it doesn't matter that much   Not going to argue this part with you. I am madly in love with the movies, hence why I live this weird, quixotic and unsustainable life in Los Angeles, but that is a whole other story not for here. It's different from music, of course, but if you love movies, you can love them just as much as music, I assure you. But what I will argue is that being a great singer is indeed a lot like being a great actor in one fundamental way. It's about what you bring to the "material" from inside yourself that matters. A role is definitely a part of an actor, it's just that they shoot the same scene 20 times and it's done. But in those 20 times, you are bringing 130% of what you have, same as a great singer does with whatever they are singing, whether it's their own words and notes or not. That is a rare talent to be able to do that, a talent that people value highly. I don't know how else to say it because it's so obvious that people do value it. Nina Simone didn't write most of her songs but she turned the world upside down the way she sang them. And what she sang was definitely true. As for The Voyager, if we were smart enough to go out and find music from other planets that was better than ours, I'm sure humans would find a way to claim it ... |

I for one am actually pretty exited about the fact that we'll hear some new tunes sung by LG in a few months time. Hopefully his vocals are good. And hopefully he will not mime with a scarf on tv. And hopefully he's not got a daft haircut. And hopefully they're on the same level as the previous 30 songs as it seems he's done fairly well with them.

Halo undoubtedly has Liam’s influence in it. Yeah the lyrics,maybe be still too but they're 3 songs on an entire Album He should collaborate more Shockwave, The River and Invisible Sun say hello. |

I still don’t understand why some people are whining about songwriting on album that wasn’t released yet.
Another thing that I don’t understand: if you think that Liam Gallagher singing songs written by other people is unauthentic and bad, what are you even doing on this forum?

I think its a poor song and any success of the album was despite that being its lead single rather than because of it. It was a kurstin song and thankfully there doesn't seem to have been any sign of him being involved in this album. Fingers crossed. |

But I think the worst song on Why Me Not is probably The Medow. I don't hate it but I just don't think that it's one of Liam's best solo songs. |
