Personally I listen to More Power more frequently than TGFGU but that doesn't mean that one is better than the other. TGFGU is a masterpiece but you can't listen to it like a common other song. Her lyrics are so delicate that you can only go and listen to her when you feel in a certain mood. It is not a song that you can normally "consume" as a background .. it is a song that you have to connect emotionally to. To me More Power feels more honest. I wouldn't be surprised if the chorus is penned by the singer himself. And musically speaking is miles far above TGFGU, more interesting at first listen and more "anthemic" if you will. I understand why some people love TGFGU, but to me is the least interesting ballad of all 3 albums. (Meaning FWIW and Once of course) Not to be obvious here, but More Power is also the first track on the album, so every person who ever starts the album from the beginning is going to hear it, whether or not they make it to TGFGU. Previously that honor of opening track has gone to the first singles in Liam's albums.

Please stop the Too good for giving up will take Spotify/charts by storm thing. Every Liam (and previously Oasis) record there are 1-2 songs trying to be this big anthem. Sometimes it happens. Stop crying your heart out, Once, even For what it’s worth.
But it doesn’t happen often. We had ppl in this forum saying that The beat goes on, Paper crown, Start anew, All you’re dreaming of, even Ballroom figured, were those big anthems.
Let’s enjoy the song for what it is. It won’t be a hit. No problem with that.

I much prefer the live version of Too Good To Give Up than the album version.

This conversation leads absolutely perfectly in to my post. My tribute band gave it a little go last night for the first time if anyone wants to check it out: fb.watch/dEwIdc9r6K/

Stumbled across this today while looking for something else. Did we know WIN was written that long ago? Neat tidbit anyway.

I really wish Everything's Electric wasn't given to him last minute. Wasn't needed at all and feel so out of place in Liam's catalogue and indeed on the album as a whole. I do think its a good song but it would have been much better suited to a young pop band.
Diamond In The Dark is vastly superior and although it ventures away slightly from traditional Liam, it maintains more than enough of what we do expect from him. Plus it's just a great track and very radio friendly.
Then give Too Good For Giving Up a proper release on vinyl with even a low budget video and i think it's got that type of quality that has every chance of doing really well for him even without much money behind the release. I'd much rather see that kind of release like with Once where the sheer quality of the song drives the views and plays and gets everyone eager for the album vs the absolute shitshow that was the C'mon You Know release.
Then have Better Days come out exactly how it did with video and for me all of that is a better build up than what we got. Shoot me

More Power
A children’s choir is a risk at any time 😂 Thankfully there was no need to worry. It’s a beautiful tune, never try’s too hard to be too big. It has some lovely touches, Liam singing ‘You’re never alone’ behind the choir and the BJM guitar during the outro. 8/10
Diamond In The Dark
Very Artic Monkeys and very good. Lyrically it’s excellent and it has a really great atmosphere. The instrumental break leading in to Liam singing “Desperate eyes!” Is lovely. 9/10
Don’t Go Halfway
It’s a mess, but quite an entertaining one. Like many of the songs on the album it gives you a little more with every listen. There seems to have been complaints about the lyrics but I like the fact they are specific. I like the fuzzy guitars and it’s a Liam vocal that really suits the song well. 6.5/10
C’mon You Know
I wasn’t sure to start with but like a few more on this album it rewards repeated listens. The backing sings emphasising the start of each line a a nice touch and the music falling away when Liam sings “Sick of acting like I’m tough” is the highlight of the song. The outro is top as well.7/10
Too Good For Giving Up
Obligatory ballad. Liam tries hard to rough it up but it isn’t enough for me. It’s not a bad song, it’s well written lyrics are fine but not for me. Nothing Nowhere in this spot would have blasted this album in to orbit.
It Was Not Meant To Be
It’s more catchy than it initially appears, musically there’s quite a lot going on and it boasts a lovely fairground finish.6/10
Everything’s Eletric
I already preferred the RAK version but hearing it at Knebworth and seeing the reaction made me realise why this works. Always liked the verses, starting to get my head round the chorus. A good single. 7/10
World’s In Need
Liam near his best. As I said somewhere else, simple, melodic, direct. Great thing about this tune is I think the album and live versions offer you something different and I like both. This is where Wyatt shines as well, the string arrangement at the end is good. 7.5/10
Moscow Rules - Amazing tune. Didn’t get it at first, now can’t get enough of it. The chorus a one of those again that doesn’t go too big. It leaves you wanting more. Great Liam vocal and lyrics 9/10
I’m Free
There’s some nice ideas here, especially the reggae elements but I’m not having it really. Liam sings it like he’s trying to be 20 years younger. 4/10
Better Days
The 10 seconds are like opening a window on a summers day and hearing birdsong! I like the vibe, the drums the vocal which is right in Liams zone. Some of the lyrics are a little ropey but other than that it’s decent. 7/10
Oh Sweet Children - Love this as closer, the opening synths remind me of the Killers. The verses are fine but let’s face it, the whole song built for the McCartney walk up In to that soaring chorus. Again, it doesn’t try to go to hard, it’s an epilogue, a fitting one at that. 7/10
Put simply Liam’s best album and so unlike most other Oasis or Gallagher related releases. It’s not all immediate, not all of it lands straight away. The more you listen to it the more you get out of it. This feels like the end of a process that began with songs like One of Us and Alright Now. Perhaps this will end up being the best distillation of Wyatt’s eclectic vision and Liam keeping things grounded. Will be more than happy to them back for the next one. Would like one more Liam song on the next one though!

As long as I can shake this Covid off by next week 😂 Will probably be my first time seeing Noel, followed by McCartney is spot on.
