Never thought anyone would use « ergo » ever on here As for shophistication, playing shockwave or the river right after this is a pain to the ear. Cheap, very cheap. Still enjoyable thanx to Liam vocals though. The river? That tune is bloody awesome, the production is great and it's very well written It's not just a 4 chords song It is a rock tune but it sounds extremely modern, what are you talking about? |

The recordings are ok, it's the finished products that kinda sucks, like it's been mixed and mastered under a rock. It does not show much on regular headphone, but on higher end, gosh, it sounds terrible. |

I just listened to it again in the car.
The intro and first verse had me fist-thumping up and down the main road like it was 1996,
then came the chorus and I remembered why I rated it 3/10...

I felt it deserved a few more spins than your typical Gallagher tune to fully absorb so I've held off replying for a short while and having done so I'm convinced it's the best Gallagher song of 2019 so far. A really solid effort which I think helps dispel the suggestion that he's releasing EP's because the songs aren't strong enough for an LP. Personally this is something I've never subscribed to even if I agree 'Sail On' & 'Rattling Rose' aren't as strong as most tracks on Noel's 3 LP's so far. It feels like wishful thinking to me...

But I'd say the Spotify plays have been flat for both brothers in general in 2019. Once, The River, and Shockwave have combined for ~7.7 million plays on Spotify. And while people initally fretted about Black Star Dancing's early Spotify numbers, among 2019 Gallagher tracks, it's second in plays at ~2.5 mill. None of the tracks, in terms of stats, are anything to write home about. All of this is to say, I'd ignore the Spotify numbers for Noel right now when he's just dropping tracks with no video and late night performances. |
